Where would you post an exceptional article in order to get a lot of potential clients to see the quality of your writing?

For the sake of this post, let's assume that the site gets little to no traffic and no one will see it there.

Excellent point. I'll admit I've been thinking the same thing.

However, I'm also thinking about the short term and getting more work in the door.

What are you intentions? Are you trying to prove your writing skills so companies can outsource their articles to you?

Yes, that is my long term goal. I'm trying to find good places to get my articles "out there".

I have a website but it is still young and is not receiving much traffic at this time.

You can post it to popular websites that and to your own website too. Make your own website with your portfolio and write exceptional contents in your blog. In that way many will noticed your awesome articles and be able to gain contacts and customers.

So, are you thinking about places like EZA, Hubpages, etc.?

No, I am thinking of sites like Seomoz, Searchengineland and other popular SEO sites.

I assumed you are writing SEO articles.

They could be articles about anything. It all depends on what the client needs.

That was one of two suggestions. I know there is one warrior who sells custom amazon product reviews. He makes about $15 per article, and sells them in bundles. He specializes in this niche and can write his articles very quickly. His reviews are stellar. He also released a PLR WSO, and netted $73 per article iirc.

The main benefit to guest blogging is to receive traffic back to your own property and convert the leads now or later (list). I guess I'm not completely understanding your goal.

You want to write and get paid a premium in an arena where you are competing with competent english-as-a-second-language writers who can comfortably live on $250USD per month.

You can copywrite for business, write press releases, and find technical writing jobs that pay very well. Is that something that fits what you are looking for?

Writing random articles, and hoping people buy them, you could try constant-content.com, where you can post your articles, and set your own prices. There are a few sites like these. With any luck, you can net $30-50 per article, and in some cases, retain rights to the content.

hope you find a good fit for your needs

you can post on Ezine Hubpages or Blogger. Post it up on your webpage so your web traffic can read your content. I've also heard of article spinning software that will change up your article with the same valuable content and then you use article submitting software to get it out to 100s of different article site. You may also google free article sites, maybe even paid sites. Do some research. It pays off in the long run.

It has been mentioned, but it's probably best to put it on your site. Do that first, and then when it is indexed, you can spread it around.

If it really is exceptional content, it might help your site get more traffic.

Try specialized blogs that focus on your niche. You have to talk to the owner/editor to get topics and you write specific posts for them. Your reward? A do follow backlink from a site with PR

I like this idea for niche sites. However, my site is about writing for multiple niches so I'm not sure if it would apply.

I'm going to give a scenario to better explain what I'm looking for.

Let's say I have 4 articles on the following unrelated topics (I'm just making this stuff up.):

How to Protect Your Family at Home
How to Drive Your Car Over 100 MPH
Why You Need More Than 6 Hours of Sleep
5 Ways to Save Money This Winter

If I put these on my site I'm likely to totally goof up the SEO since the search engines won't know what my site is about (I'm not trying to turn this into an SEO discussion.) However each article may be important to a potential client.

What I'm looking for are good places where people might see these articles and say "Hey, that was really a great article, I could use something like this for my site."

    Chardee,

Launch your own WSO or offer your services in the Classified section. This really is a great option if you're looking for people to hire you. Path of lesser resistance, and potentially much greater results. Look for others doing the same services and model after them.

How many articles do you have and what is the topic(s) about. I to have a new site (6 months old), it only has a PR2. If the content is good I can let the link to the page reside on my home page under editors choice. PR leaks to all of my home page links. Just saying.

Try your local newspaper.. it's not as hard as you think to get your article in print. Just write on something local. Now you can say that you write for a newspaper (though unpaid).
    Add that to your portfolio.
Win a few awards at sites like Helium - Where Knowledge Rules
If you can't win some there then quit writing.
Add those "awards" to your portfolio.
Do some guest blogging with your new credentials.
    Then of course add those..
Soon you will be a celebrity

    You get the picture

Then you can offer it as a guest post on a website that receives great amount of traffic and social media following. That way their good standing and luck would somehow rub-off to your site.
