I think the best way to promote a hubpage or squidoo page is to use social networking sites. You and I know that Facebook and Twitter have been commonly used nowadays whether you are a celebrity or not, young or old. It will be even more helpful if you have a great number of friends and followers. It is also helpful if you post comments on hubs by others and enter HubPage contests.

For Squidoo, you need to write good quality content with keyword optimization for your lens. Then acquire high quality backlinks to the lens for grabbing top ranking at Google.

Plenty of lenses with targeted keywords get top ranking at Google.

Drive traffic to it. I personally would do Hubpages over Squidoo. If you want to include links on your Hubpages articles... your articles must be 100% original, and it cant be posted anywhere else on the internet - except for only Hubpages.

I also like hubapges the most because hubpages pages gets more popularity and readers over squidoo lenses. It appears in google top search results too. You never know, when your article will be at the top of google search.

If you are using Squidoo lenses to earn money or drive traffic to your money site, one way to help to build traffic is through being active on the Squidoo community.

I had not done this when I first started using Squidoo to help to get traffic to my sites. This was a mistake. With a few minutes of being active in the community, the difference in traffic to my sites and money that I am making is quite dramatic.

Squidoo is already powerful-pr7. I have used squidoo to link to my website and ranked pretty well. With that being said, send some links to your squidoo page, write some unique/quality content and watch it rise in the rankings.

That's like Ezine Articles "being PR-6". :p

Websites don't "have page ranks", Connor. Only pages have page ranks.

Squidoo's own home page having a PR-7 would (perhaps) be helpful for your backlinks there, if your backlinks there were on Squidoo's own home page. But they're not. Just like mine weren't, when I used it. And just like my articles (and everyone else's articles) in Ezine Articles are on their own PR-0 pages.

          Pages have page ranks!!

I know you can build up your lens so that it does have some page rank, but you can also do that with your own pages elsewhere, which you own and control. I have loads of PR-5 pages on my own sites (not that it means much, these days), and I don't have Squidoo in charge there: I get to make up the rules and policies and procedures because I own and control the site.

Yes, I know this. However it is still better to put a blog on Squidoo then it is on some random PR0 site with spam backlinks to its homepage.

              Nobody's suggesting that.

That's just as valid an observation as commenting that having a page on Squidoo's site is better than being buried at sea. Nobody suggested it and those are not realistic alternatives!

We're discussing whether it's better to have pages on your own site or on someone else's site. "Spam backlinks" have nothing to do with it at all. And the fact that the someone else's site's own home page might happen to have a high page rank - which you yourself were pointing out - isn't relevant to that, Connor.

Squidoo's own home page is PR-7. Let us know when they give you their own home page to use for your backlinks.

Yup you want backlinks and others in here have given some awesome advice and alexa especailly.

But remember first things first! You need to have killer kick ass content, and make sure its SEO'ed properly.

That is the content part, sort that out first and then get leverage by spreading this around and work out how you can do this, and outsource this to help.
