Bitly - Tinyurl Question?

Does any one know how the likes of bitly and tinurl still manage to have their links posted to Facebook and Twitter despite the fact they are used massively with spam emails and spam posts?

How do they to retain this privilege?

Doesn't FB check the URL link before allowing it to be posted? It seems that's how I remember it.

Thanks for the feedback but why would you suggest or want to do the above?

Facebook, as one example, isn't punishing BitLy because spammers happen to use them. Hell, spammers use Facebook and Twitter all the time without URL Shortening Services too.

BitLy I know, is working hard to control spam, but let's face it - spammers are gonna spam, some way, some how, regardless of the platform used.
Thanks for your help, but you answered back in reply #3. Its understood, thanks.

I use my own URL shorteners because the others always get me in trouble almost everywhere I use them (FB, Twitter, Craigslist, etc..) + the redirect ads. Not worth losing traffic so I decided to get my own and it's much easier.

Thanks for the feedback, your answer was partly why we have created our own as well.

I think part of the problem is if you use them too much on your facebook and twitter accounts they will limit or block you. I now try to use them sparingly when I absolutely must. What I do to mix it up is I buy domains and do a simple domain name redirects to my affiliate offers which are never a problem with the social networks.

Do you use a specific redirection script for this?

Seems like the best strategy to me. Just get a cheap domain name, and forward it to your target site/affiliate offer.

Facebook check what links are behind the Bit.Ly link and if its a spam site then you wont be allowed to post it.

Sometimes you just have to put more layers in,i.e add a redirect to the redirect...

Great point. I often use a double redirect when posting social or Craigslist, etc.. A bit clumsy but it works.
