How do I create a screen capture video with my webcam feed in the in the bottom right corner?

Hey everyone,

I'm working on a sales page for a new product.

I want to record of video walk through of my product (showing my screen as I explain it) and I want people to be able to see me (via webcam) in the bottom right part of the screen.

What software can I use to create this?

Thanks in advance,
Anton

  • Hi Anton,

Does your webcam software show your face on the screen? If so, you can place the webcam screen at the corner of your screen. Your face is now showing up on the screen.

You can use a free tool , jing to capture your screen.

    I hope this helps,

Camtasia is just awesome IMO, totally worth the investment if you are going to be doing alot of videos, there is a bit of a learning curve but most of it is pretty intuitive, you'll soon have some slick looking videos!

Yea, camtasia rules, but since I'm trying to use Linux exclusively these days (I hate windows)... I'm testing out screencast-o-matic. So far I'm pretty impressed, especially since it's only $15/year. It even has editing tools. Amazing what the browser can do these days.

As for the webcam shot, I've seen other screencast-o-matic users do this, so I'm pretty sure it's possible. I have yet to do it however.

If you are on a Mac, check out the free 30 trial of ScreenFlow. It's an amazing screen-casting product that can handle web-cams, video cameras, iPhone movies, screencasts etc. Very fun to use as well.

Camtasia is definitely the best if you want a small files size and to be able to edit the videos in detail later on. A good thing with it as well is you can also ask questions within the videos to get feedback from your users. But this uses SCORM. Make sure you have a good webcam if you want to film yourself too

To do this, you will need to use video editing software that allows "picture in picture".

You will need to record them as two seperate videos, then use the screen cast as your "big" video and the web cam video as the "picture in picture". The key will be to edit them so they are in sync. Because of this, IMO it may be best to not have your web cam video in 100% of the main video. Instead, maybe add the picture in picture in select places.

Here is how you can do that: use Security Monitor Pro to view your webcam. Once it is setup, right click on the preview window and select 'Detach Preview'. Put the preview up on your screen and then use My Screen Recorder - Screen Recording Software: My Screen Recorder - to record the screen with your webcam preview on the screen.
