This is the product creation market and the internet game for many. Hell, do you think many of the Gurus have ever even attempted the majority of the methods they sell? They make their money by telling you they make money and keeping you a satisfied list subscriber.

We have two choices:

A: We can hate them for it and damn them all to hell.

B: We can take notes, study their business model and follow their business model by doing it ourselves.

I've always believed that not only in internet marketing but in life there are two types of personalities and people. There are wolves and sheep.

One of the main reasons all this crap happens is that people follow "guidebooks" advising them to follow your option B above, and newbies are starting off in the "IM" and "MMO" markets with absolutely no idea what they're doing at all. Pretty often their visitors/subscribers know more than they do. Just like quite a few other things in internet marketing, everyone's doing it because everyone assumes that it "must work, otherwise everyone wouldn't be doing it, would they?" It's just a self-fulfilling prophecy, and it's nonsense. :rolleyes: :p

This thread gave me a great product idea . . .

Someone needs to invent a simple BS Meter.

You copy and paste a claim, or an ad, or a sales letter into the software, it quickly determines the validity of the claim, and starts flashing and beeping frantically if the claim is not truthful.

The IM crowd would be the niche audience that would buy the BS Meter.

. . . oh, wait a minute, God gave each one of us such a device already . . . it's located between our ears . . . we just have to use it once in a while.

I'm trying, but getting lost in the chum! I think it is refreshing, but I'm not sure any more that people really do want that. Kind of like how every survey says that people are turned off by and dislike negative campaign advertising, but those ads work nearly all the time... It seems that more people would rather buy the dream and hope than do the work needed to actually reach their goals...

Oh what a wonderful world this would be, IF affiliates would be required to purchase your product BEFORE they promoted it.... It would be the best for all people involved.

I know of SEVERAL reputable products that require you to have purchased the product BEFORE you can promote it, AND you have to be approved before hand. They look at your website, or the way in which you plan to promote before they approve you....

In my opinion the only lists that work well are the ones where the list owner introduce their own products. I have respect for that kind of lists. At least they produce something new - not PLR stuff that you can find for free online.

When I started buidling a list a few years ago I wanted to create a golden
relationship between me and my subscribers. I knew that this was the most
important thing otherwise they wouldn't buy s*** from me.

So one of the things I did to build that trust (I did a lot) was reviewing a
product, implementing it myself, recording everything and then send everything
to my subscribers, plus the results of course. Even if I didn't make a dime I
would tell them. I am still doing this but I outsource it now of course

And let me tell you, my subscribers now WOULD buy a pile of s*** from me
if I recommended it. Even if they knew from the start that all they would
get is a pile of s***

and nothing more.

Of course I wouldn't do that but you get the point

comon guys we have all been there before. ANd I can just see newbies, who are not reading this thread and subscribed to these lists, buying up everything under the sun. Like I said we have all been there before.

My advice to them is join the warrior forum pronto, even if it does cost you an initial investment nowadays.

I meant by "following their business model" as in selling the products like they do.

Of course selling bogus products is a prime business model that most of the rich Gurus live off of and it always will be. When I said we can either hate them or join them, I was merely referring to implementing their business model as our own, as in selling products like they do.

Hell, we've all at one point been sucked into a hyped up sales letter. My very first one was honestly the Rich Jerk sales page. It was so different than any sales page I had ever seen and it was something I just had to be apart of. That was my first true experience getting to see inside the mind of a guru, how they setup their business and how they make all of their money.

You can say that money is the root of all evil... or you can say that capitalism is the root of all corruption.

I do find it interesting though, how marketers, on a small scale, seem to represent the same proportion of corruption that you'd find in the US government. I'm not sure what the exact proportion is, all I know is its a lot on both sides. =]

You know what's interesting.... I think the IM community understands people's greed so well. And on top of that we are lazy as heck! Seriously who wants to make $500 bucks and not work rest of their lives? Some lazy people I tell ya.
