I just bought a pr 5 domain with 25,000 links at auction, I was having a site moved to that domain to give us a head start for seo. But I just see it lost all pr
should I forget about the domain and install the site on another domain?

I've had pr 4 lose their weight after the initial purchase, just to come back in after a little while. That's when I had already started on other projects since I thought this was a wash lol. So I recommend waiting a little (can you wait up to a week?) before you do anything. Of course it could take longer than that, and the longer it takes, the likelier it is that the pr won't come back. But from personal experience i say 7 - 10 days. Else move on.

Not to sound mean but it sounds to me like you didn't really know what you were doing when you bought this domain. Often times some dubious domain sellers will cheat with the PR just to get more money for the domain/website. There could be many reasons why this happened, and if you don't know, you who are the purchaser, then it's unlikely most of us will really know why this took place.

Hope you didn't spend too much money on this domain. Good luck.

I'd have to agree, sounds like you got scammed.

thanks for the thoughts, I have bought several domains like this and never ran into trouble. But with the google pr update that just took place maybe it was just bad timing. the domain did have a site on it till about 10 days ago and since then we have been trying merge the new site onto it.

Google assigns pagerank to pages, not domains. Domains without any content would most likely very quickly lose pagerank. In addition, as has been mentioned, a lot of sellers will redirect the domain to a high pagerank domain, which will give the domain a fake high pagerank. They then remove the redirect and sell it real quick while it still is showing the faked pagerank. These domains normally do lose their pagerank quickly.

I've had domains I bought at auction lose their PR and then it returns. Put some content on it, not the whole site you want to move, and wait a week or two. I bet it comes back if the links pointing to it were not removed, but hopefully you checked those links and saw that they were real and not added by some jackass just to inflate PR.
