Got this link from Flippa about ad block in browsers

Key bit is laid out in the first paragraph.

'Though global online-advertising revenues rose by 22% in 2011, websites that depend on selling their viewers’ eyeballs are worried. Around 9% of all online page views come from browsers armed with ad-blocking software, such as Adblock Plus, downloaded nearly 180m times since 2007, and 3.5m times in October alone.'

As someone whose main source of revenue is Adsense, should I be worried?

    It's an interesting topic.
Today I read a little about this nifty device, which presents a similar, if not greater problem:
AdTrap - The internet is yours again by Chad Russell — Kickstarter

While there are no guarantees about the long term effects of any anti-ad scheme, there is a definite shift in the market towards high-quality, personalized advertizing. In my opinion the 'old-school' banner ad and forced seo is decreasing in effectiveness while providing real, valuable content to potential consumers and creating a trusting relationship with customers is becoming all the more important.

But whatever happens, it's good not to have all of our eggs in one basket!

    Best of luck!

    9% is small, really.

A lot of people out there won't be 'techie' enough to even contemplate installing AdBlock, so you should be ok.

If numbers were significantly higher though, then you have grounds to worry.

Heck, lets say 80% of people install AdBlock, I'm sure most big advertising networks would pay the developers a sneak under-the-table fee for them to leave their ads in. Sounds unreal, but this is the type of stuff that happens in this industry.

Like I say, you have nothing to worry about...yet.

The 9% who install AdBlock are likely not people who would click on AdSense ads in the first place.
