Generating A List Help

I want to focus on creating a contact list that will soon be used to promote my product. I would like to know what platform or script that most of you guys use? Since my site will only be a sign up page for now do I use wordpress and use a plugin or just install a script?

If you could let me know what route you take I would appreciate it. If you use a script maybe you can let me know which one you use.

Thanks

If you want to be able to market to them in the future, then you need to set up an auto-responder. I use aweber.

    1. Set-up WP
    2. Put a squeeze page or set up first page - go into WP and set that page as front page.
    3. Insert Aweber (or whoever you decide on, mail chimp, etc.) pre-made form into squeeze page or side bar widget if regular WP page.
    4. Send relevant and interesting content to subscribers to keep them on list until product is ready to launch.

How is NC? I'm from Chapel Hill (in NY now for grad school).

Thanks for the tips! NC is getting cold.. been raining the past few days. Im a die hard tarheel fan (basketball season is back) I go to Chapel Hill all the time to watch the games and hit good 'ol Franklin St.

Nice to meet you man and good luck with grad school. Maybe you can provide some more help in the future? Ive been sitting here racking my brain on a niche the last few days but I see a lot of people suggesting if I had my own product then that would be the ticket. Well, my wife has a monogramming/personalize gift business. She has been asking me to help her market it for the past year but I havent for some reason (guess I have been looking for my own path). You will be surprised how these women go nuts about this stuff. So for experience and also help the wife out I am going to make this my "experience track" so to speak.

      Anyways thanks for the tips!

Another great autoresponder service is getresponse - I have both accounts and find I like getresponse better than aweber.

The price is not that much different either.

If your going to grow any type of list I would make sure that you use one of the two services because at the end of the day the most important thing is to be able to mail to your leads.

You shouldn't rely on your webhost to control such valuable data...

Use Aweber, insert emails, get a domain name, join Clickbank, create a hover ad from aweber, then create a product review site out of your wordpress blog.

Yeah, get response is great, too. I've just been with Aweber longer.
