Comparison Sites - Do they make money?

Hi all,

I know that there are plenty of price comparison sites for insurance, financial, loans etc. Does the "comparison site" model work for other areas? If so how are they monetized? Affiliate links or paid advertising?

Thanks,

P

  • They're monetized via Affiliate Links, and they're mostly based on SEO: if you can rank them up for the correct keywords (which is more difficult than ever after Panda, Pinguin, etc), then yes they can make money.

    Hi,

I think only the biggest comparison site make money who spent a lot on advertising.
I can be wrong but I think you need a lot of start capital to earn money on comparoison sites.

    All the best Erwin.

Comparison review model is working fine for affiliate programs.

Not only traffic from search engines, they have other traffic that comes from other sites which have high traffic.

Sites such as Hotwire, seem to be making good money and I don't see them going away....

Making sites like these are not all that hard, getting them noticed is the hard part.

Yeah they work. A great example - comparing affiliate networks. For example CPA networks that have a multi-tiered payment system. Imagine the amount of referrals you can generate and the tiered commission earnings you'd generate comparing one network to another. Definitely profitable.
