Amazon Associates Question

Hello warriors!
I'm an amazon associate for amazon.co.uk. When I promote my amazon links they are amazon.co.uk for example an affiliate link could be -

amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A0Q0FWW/ref=as_li_tf_il?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&cr eativeASIN=B00A0Q0FWW&linkCode=as2&tag=nufreaeg-21

So when people in america visit the affiliate link, will they be taken to the amazon.com site, Will I still get a commission, do I need an amazon.com associates account?

    Hi Arran,

You should consider getting a link localizing plugin to handle this for you. The link points to Amazon UK so anybody who clicks your link will hit the UK site.

If, on the other hand you have one of the localizing plugins they could be redirected to their local Amazon. You do need to go to each of the different Amazons and create an account first as they are all separate entities.

Thanks for the response, where can I find a link localising product?

You should download WordPress › Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer « WordPress Plugins and then sign up for an Amazon.com Associates Account (and/or as many other countries as you want), then you should be covered.

Ah right, no idea then. I only use Wordpress, but I'm sure someone on here would know.

      Hi Arran

I think the best way to solve this would be to mask your affiliate links with a redirect script on one of your domains which would take the visitors location and send them to the appropriate amazon site. The amazon sites are separate entities so you'll need a new account for each website

(just looked at your website.. you're about a 20 min drive from me, small world!)

You will need to have an account for each of the Amazon programs.

Then when someone in another country clicks on you link, it will direct them to that site under your Amazon ID. Thus you will make the commsion.

Also read the discussion form at Amazon and your answer will be answered. Or contact them and they will assist you.

Example your in the UK with an account and I am in Canada, I click your account and as long as your have an acount for CA which is Canada, and I purchased there you will get a commission.

I don't know how you would make country specific links on Squidoo UNLESS you pop in an URL in the text field and say something like UK visitors click here. US visitors click here OR send them to a website and have the appropriate links there.

You would also have to join the affiliate program for each country in order to earn commissions.

Arran, is there any specific reason why you're targeting UK Amazon from Squidoo?

I would guess with a high percentage of niches that the bulk of the traffic is US based. Unless you were going after a UK specific niche/product I would (personally) go after the US market.
