Starting out a membership site, need some help from experts + DAP (Digital Access Pass)

I am building a membership site and looking for a good membership plugin for wordpress.

First of all, Thank you for opening this thread! I appreciate your time.

Okay, I have a blog about internet marketing, blogging and freelancing. I created a new site where I will create videos.

I will push my visitors to this new membership site.

Technical details:
Wordpress 3.4
Shared hostgator server

Content types I want to offer:
Videos that members can watch
Can download the videos
Can download the MP3 of the video file
Can download PDF worksheet
Have access to the members only support forum
Access to me via skype/email

What I want to offer:
Wordpress basis
Blogging basics
Freelancing
Internet marketing
Making money online
Graphics design
Wordpress thesis customization

First my choice was Wishlist members, but I saw at a website that you need a drip plugin ($47) clickbank account for affiliates ($49), a video player that protects from downloading ($97 or so) and some more paid plugins to configure it.

I came across DAP and it had all the features I needed. The affiliate management, the drip option, auto responder and others.

So many people recommending DAP and then I read 1 negative review and I was confused. It shared about some flaws of the DAP system.

My requirements are:
  1. I need to offer content on a drip basis like everyday a new video comes and they get notified.
  2. I want to offer an affiliate program so people can promote my stuff and make money.
  3. I don't need to protect my videos, they can download and watch; Videos will have my site name in it. With drip option, they just cannot download all at one time.
  4. I need a forum built in, where people can log in with the same id.
So my questions are:
  1. Which should be a good plugin? DAP or any other? (I want to stick to just one because there is a learning curve for all, and once I start rolling it will be just messy to move with all my subscribers)
  2. Should I offer a free membership? But I don't want to build a list of free members.
  3. Recommend me a good video player for wordpress.
  4. Where should I host the videos (Amazon S3?)
  5. Should I use the auto responder of DAP or Aweber?
  6. Should I charge high ($47/mo) or low($7/mo) for my content?
  7. I have 2checkout, will it help with recurring billing or I need something else?
Thank you for reading all the way down here. Please give me honest opinions and suggestions. If you are having the same question, then this thread should help you too!

    Hi,

Most of your requirements would be good with DAP. not sure about the forum though.

Best thing is to ask them these questions, I m sure they ll answer you in all honesty.

      Hello Tamalanwar,

I use DAP combined with S3 Media Vault (Amazon S3), ClickBank, PayPal, and Aweber and I'll try and help you out.

DAP allows you to drip content. Then set up an auto responder that syncs with the video days to notify people of the new content.

I hose my videos on Amazon S3 with JW Player. It works well and JW Player has quite a few customization options which is nice.

I have not used DAP's autoresponder - but you can sync up DAP with Aweber - which is what I do and it works well.

I have not used 2checkout, but I do use DAP with ClickBank and PayPal and it integrates seamlessly, so I'd imagine the same holds true with 2checkout.

I have not integrated DAP with a Forum, but they do have that option, and it appears vBulletin is the way to go: Forum Integration — DAP Documentation

I've been really impressed with DAP and they have good customer support. I've always heard back within 24 hours, normally within 12.

Hopefully I've helped you a little...

Hey thanks a lot for your helpful answers, it did solved a lot of problems. So you are using clickbank to manage the affiliates. And the aweber just auto sends email when there is a new content, that's just awesome!

Sorry, let me clarify about the auto responder....you'd have to create an auto responder that corresponds with the content drip...it doesn't automatically sync.

If that makes sense...I'm sorry for the confusion. But, yes, I am using ClickBank to manage affiliates.

You can also manage affiliates directly from DAP.

For drip feed email notification, to me it s easier do use DAP itself. But also make sure to add subs on an autoresponder for future broadcasts, which I think couldn t be done with DAP.
