Quest to the First Page of Google

I'm a newby sort of but I know all of the principles of SEO which say optimize for a low comp keyword, build links and have plenty of original content. I've been starting to build links from relevant forums but they dont seemed to get indexed and I don't see improvements in my ranking for the keywords. Any Suggestions?

My only advice is though SEO is great for traffic - Look into different ways to drive traffic to your website. This way not all your eggs are in 1 basket

    Hope you found this helpful

Here I'll tell you something funny, even though this belongs in the SEO forum.

When I first started learning SEO, I made A LOT of threads on WF asking questions about my site... as well as linking to my site.

At the time, I had no idea those links would count for anything. Nor did I really care. I stopped doing SEO on the site, then came back about 8 months later to check my backlinks.

Amazingly, I see a ton of WF links that had gotten indexed. Then I go and check my site, and its on the bottom of page 1! I think "wtf... did WF get my site on page 1?" I still have no idea. I created many backlinks in many different places, but for some reason, all my WF links got indexed, and like 75% of my nonWF links still haven't gotten indexed.

For instance I have about 22 backlinks for youtube videos, and only a few show up till this day. And I think they are all the videos I promoted with fiver many months ago. All I know is I keep building backlinks, and one day I'm just going to outsource SEO. Because if I'm this ignorant and can rank a site on my own, I can't imagine what a seasoned vet can do for my sites.

My suggestion would be to stop publishing at forums for the hopes of an indexed backlinks... Then, stop checking to see if your backlinks are getting indexed. You'll get more value focusing your energy on publishing high quality content to your WordPress site than you will trying to 'build backlinks'.

The trick to SEO is having a system and then continuing to move forward within the system trusting your results will appear over time.

For example... If you have a WordPress site/blog in nicheX and that is what you are promoting, maybe you create a new keyword related post and publish it... Then you read the post out-loud, record it and turn it into a podcast (WP+Feedburner make that easy). Then you take the .mp3 file and turn it into a slideshow video with some pictures and upload it to YouTube... Be sure to link back to the original post here.

Then, maybe you utilize PingFM to get some social links to your new content, or you post about it in the forum for nicheX... If you must.

    But here's the 'trick':

Once you get through your process... Go back to the keyword research tool, find another keyword and get to work pushing your next piece of content into your 'system'. If your content is better-than-good, it will get link'd to. If your content is not better-than-good, that is what you should be working on, now.

You said you know all the principles of SEO, but I wonder if you really understand how long of a process it really is... You should be in a niche your ready to be in for LIFE... And you should know that you are on a life-long journey here.

Checking on your backlinks after you publish them to make sure they were indexed is like digging up your seeds right after planting them to see if they have started growing yet... You'll kill your crop!

Just keep on planting your seeds and moving on.... Everything else will work itself out, as long as you are using WordPress properly and leverage Google's keyword tool.

You can either way and see if your links will get indexed(could take time). Or you can use a indexer tool/site to help you out.
Just Google index kings for a free indexing site.

Forums along can't make your site rank if it is a medium or high competition. You need to apply other SEO techniques like guest posting.
