Avoiding a Launch Mishap as an Affiliate of Tangibles

Here's a tip - a lesson from me screwing something up today...
I created a page that's ranking nicely for a Wii U phrase I wanted to jump on. Did it about 1-2 weeks ahead of today's launch date. It's ranking, getting good traffic.
Had it all set w/my affiliate URL to point to search results for the Wii U on Amazon. (there were already a couple jacked up in price on there for a couple hundred more than what they're retailing for).
Find out today that Amazon's not carrying Wii U. Some ridiculous squabble between Amazon and Nintendo.
So now today I had to go put in my affiliate request to Target, Toys R Us, etc. - but today's wasted. Not that it's like a new Xbox 360 console launching or anything, but it's still going to make some sales.
Have to wait about 48 hours for approval to swap links. Traffic wasted.
So my tip of the day for making money is - have a back up plan in place BEFORE launch.
