Hello everyone, can I be successful?

Hi, I just joined the forum and don't really know much about IM. Just want to say hello and get some feedback.

I want to learn how to make money on internet but English is not my first language and not very confident in my writing skills either. I'm still not sure if I should build a content based site or just sell items online to make money. Are there any other ways to make money?

Thanks. Any feedbacks would be great. Funny enough, I'm also learning internet Poker at moment but this could be more for me. Does it take years before I start to make money?

It really depends on when you start mate. Figure out what you are passionate about and market it.

that is one OK way of making money.

The way I have been successful is ....

      1) find a hungry crowd

      2) Put em on yer list

      3) Ask them what they want

      4) Give it to them.

You might have a passion, and you might be able to make money from it, well you might be 50 / 50 there!!!! however find an intrest you have that has a hungry crowd out there and follow the 4 critical steps above and you will see tremendous results.

P.S. Just cause you have a passion does no mean there is money in it. The most important part to making money is your NICHE so choose carefully.

Success is not impossible. It is possible in fact. It may take 6 years or more, but it is possible, if you don't give up along the way.

    Welcome!

Yes, you can be successful online.
No, it doesn't have to take years, it didn't for me (although it can if you keep turning in circles. As long as you pick ONE thing and don't give up right before you're about to make money or get distracted by anything else, no matter how great it looks, you will make money)
No, you don't have to be a native English speaker. I'm not either and neither are PLENTY of other people on this forum. So you're fine

    How to get started?

    - get an overview of what all this is about (no more than a week or two)
    - pick something you want to do. you can also skip step one and just pick the first thing you hear about
    - learn how to do it! find out what the best course is and FOLLOW it
    - keep working on it until you get paid
    - done

Yes, it really isn't any harder than this. People will try to make it harder but just stick to the ONE thing you chose to do. And do it. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise even when the day gets long.

    You can do this!!

    I believe in you.

Again, a very warm welcome to internet marketing!

Confidence is contagious but it's not something anyone can give you.

Confidence in yourself will play a big role in success whether online or offline.

The fact you are questioning whether you can be successful tells me you don't believe in yourself and the truth is you will never be successful like that.

Stop asking if you can. You think you are the only person who has English as a second language or isn't a great writer? Some of the most successful people in the world are poorly educated but they have business smarts and they believe in themselves.

Go and make it happen and don't waste time asking for other people's permission as to whether or not you can be successful. ANYONE can be successful but it's up to you.

      Hey Amazin,

      Welcome!

Yes, you can be successful online!

I agree with Vicky. Focus on one thing you really love to do, something you would do even if you don't make any money at it.

If you are passionate about something then most likely other people are also.

      How to get started?

Develop a plan of attack, just be aware it has to flexible, because as you learn the plan will change. You have to stick to the basic principles of your plan though, and no matter what never quit. Like I said if you are passionate about something do it even if you don't make any money at first.

Even if you don't make any money from what you are passionate about at least you enjoyed the experience, while you were learning. Now all that you learned can be carried over to another market. At least you had a blast learning.

      Welcome to internet marketing!

There are endless ways to make money online. One mistake that newcomers to the online business world tend to make is the assumption that they should be selling some sort of 'make money online' product. I can say from experience that this isn't the best route to take unless you're already making money online and want to teach others.

Your best bet is to examine your personal interests and determine how you can make money by helping others who are also interested in those interests. For example, I'm a physician and I have a medical exam preparation course that I created on my own, and sell it now through my business (purely online). This is highly lucrative and yet unrelated to actual 'money making' strategy.

So figure out what you like to do, then figure out how you can monetize that interest/skill, and start creating content (articles, videos, tutorials) and create product(s) that you can sell through your own website. Find other people to sell your product for a commission, and keep growing this way.

    Best of luck.

    Paul

The answer is YES you can be successful that is if you want your own success too. You shouldn't focus on your weaknesses but instead look at what is within your reach!
If you worry, you might as well walk with an umbrella, waiting for the rain to pour!!!!!! you have to know what you want to do and go for it.
If you cant write well, you can always find freelancers or you can learn to do it yourself.... Failure is an excuse that history never accepts!!!!!!

    Good Luck/ Blessings!

If you want to make money, you'll still be selling something if you have a content based site. Even if it's adsense, you're still creating the conditions in which you're making something available in exchange for money.

I understand you're new and full of doubts. And as others have pointed out, your question reveals something about where your thoughts are.

Don't think in terms of having a handicap because of the language situation. You don't have to do anything in English to make money online. How about your primary language? You can do business in that, I would think. Yes?

Maybe write a list of your strengths and genuine interests, or even what you're passionate about. You mentioned you're learning poker. That seems to be an interest. If you're in the US, you have to be careful about the laws governing online betting, etc.

If you're not in the US, then it's probably different.

    So go with your strengths.

Avoid focusing on doubts and "what ifs." If you get an idea that interests you, then check it out, see if there's profit potential and if so, run with it.

Avoid thinking you have to know everything and everything has to be perfect.

Learn enough to get started and throw yourself into it and never look back.

Don't let mistakes stop you. Learn and keep moving forward. Look ahead, not behind you.

I don't think the op was necessarily asking permission to go forward. I took it more as a request for encouragement, which is actually a positive sign to me. I don't agree that asking the question indicates the answer is no due to lack of belief.

On the contrary, the fact that you're here, and willing to ask for help is very good. People who are too proud to ask for help and risk getting criticized have an obstacle you don't have.

I have seen products from well known, successful marketers whose grammar in the product was no better than yours in your post, so the level of English skill is not a real barrier. My answer is a resounding yes, and if you really go for it, success can come much sooner than you think.

At the rate the internet changes, the 6 years someone mentioned is an absurdly long period. Even those who do well pretty much have to reinvent themselves at least 2-3 times in that period. Trends online often have a shelf life of 2-3 years, and during the first 6 months of the latest hot site, many people become millionaires from it. No reason you can't succeed and do so fast.

ANYONE can be successful! It depends on what you plan, execute and determined to succeed. Many young people are already successful like the 15 year old who is the founder of summly (now 17 years old), 16 years old that owns ads company ( I can't remember his name but his 30+ years old now).

spot on! I have to admitt, another reason I created this topic is to test the quality of this forum. After all I paid $10 for this and Im also a member of various other forums. Majority of them are full of trolls, idiots and negative people. All the encouragement I'm getting right now, I am very greatful.

I'm planning to have a good think/research what topic to get into. I do have various hobbies and interests but I'm not sure if they are big enough to make me money. There are plenty of websites on Poker, streetfighter, self improvement but most of them don't make any money so its not good.

I tried "the challenge" from Ed Dale but it was too marketing from them and I didn't like that. I think I just learn as I go along but need to pick a topic first. know any successful blogs for me to look up to?

Yes you can be successful online. First decide what business model you would like to follow? How much money do you want to make passively(monthly revenue)? Do you want to build a business or something that will supplement your income? Answer these questions and go and find somebody that models your vision. Get on their list or find a way to contact them and ask them if they provide coaching as that is the best way to short cut to success! Anyway I wish you the best of luck in your future IM ventures

Remember if you are not too confident that your translation comes across well, you can always get someone to check it and make alterations if necessary. I say go for it and good luck.

I say you can be fine at English as long as you practice or educate yourself really well to know how to properly write your content, but it will pay off in the end with your internet business and with your self education.

First of all welcome to this Forum, its a great learning Enviroment for sure and in my Opinion One of only 2 That are full of Quality on The Internet.

There are some good replies in This Thread, I am Shocked at the length of Time being quoted as to Be Successfull ~ 6 years ( Now that is Extreme!). I firmly Believe That as long as you are Consistently Doing the Right things, Then Success Can Take No Longer than If you are Running a Conventional Business ( 2years or Less)

What is Important is to Make sure that you are passionate about what you do, Othewise, It will be a Lot harder, Thats a Given and is based on Experience. As for what works Well on The internet, well, Information Products are Good, People always want information.

Back in 2008, I Was introduced to a Book Called Magnetic Sponsoring, which changed the way I totally Marketed ( I was successful Prior to this, but It Accelerated that Process, quite markedly), so To Answer Your Question You can Be Successful, with the Right Foundations.

Secondly You need to Learn as Much as you can and choose a Good mentor who will help you Through what will be a Difficult Learning Curve, but none the less an Enjoyable one.

    Applied Education is the Difference

Really? That's great news for this 56 year old man who was ready to give up his dream of being the next Michael Jordan, and a super-model on the side.

I was also going to give up the idea of owning a controlling interest in the top 5 banks in the world, taking over Pakistan to turn it into a giant casino, and bringing dead actors back to life so I could recreate Casablanca, better the second time.

I'm so glad to know that's all still possible!

It doesn't matter whether you can speak English or not. All you need to do is offer some value to other and people will be more than happy to pay you.

I totally agree with the general sentiment here. In addition to the above, don't get distracted with the latest marketing toys. Just focus on one topic and get good at it. As english is not your first topic, you can always pay someone to write for you. Alternatively, have you considered marketing to people who share the same language as you ? You could find a niche market there.

don't be fooled, it's very hard to succeed on the internet. Yes, it might take loads of time and no pay. Just to learn the basics. Be very careful of anyone claiming to make good money off internet marketing, and definitely stay away from products with a pimp on a beach in a Lamborghini on the cover, or the 'mum' who stays home making thousands while washing dishes. It's all BS.

Plus, their technique look so stupid, they show figures like 3000016.193 etc, down to the last cent. You are supposed to think what, 'whoa, that's accurate!! This guy must be serious!'

And you know what....it's an insult to everybody's intelligence.

I trust better people who just teach how to market, with no hype. NOT how to 'make loads money'.

Ah, and what about the products who claim to have ONE thing that makes all the money, that no one else is using. The classic 'magic pill'. The magic wand. This has gone on for centuries. In the Middle Ages it was called 'alchemy', claiming that an item, the 'philosopher's stone' could transmute all cheap metal into gold.

Here's the thing, that many gullible or inexperienced people don't think about: do you think that someone who has figured out a system to make money, would let the whole world know about it? For 30 bucks? Or 100? Or 2000 ?

    Why would they do that?

    Good question, don't you think?

Find out what your passionate about first. Marketing something online that you really don't like to do will seem like a job. Start building a list in what ever niche you decide to go in. Build a relationship with them. And over time, they will buy products and services you recommend. You can also find someone who does what you would like to do, contact them, and see if they're willing to coach you.

Poker is game on which you cannot rely solely. There are chances of loosing money within seconds. If you are cautious in IM, you may find it hard to earn money at the beginning, but there are less chances of loosing money if you take steps carefully.

Welcome to this wondering forum I will personally advice you to decide on ONE system that you are going to follow and make sure that you stick to it. Once you understand the system, you will want to take massive action. It does take work and effort so you want to be prepared for it

    As others have mentioned...

Stick to ONE METHOD and see it through. The fastest way to success is to follow a proven system that works - then replicate that system.

Work hard, stay focused, never ever give up and you will eventually succeed.
