UK Cookie Law - Should I implement anything on simple WP sites ?

Hi,

We are new to the UK market (targeted US traffic with US sites by now).

We have developed a few new sites for the UK market - Some promoting PaidOnResults merchants and some Adsense sites.

I've read a lot about this cookie policy and still can't understand what should we do.

The sites are co.uk targeting UK visitors, and our company is based outside of the UK.

All sites are built with WordPress and the only cookies there are of: Google Analytics, Google Adsense, 3rd Party affiliate links/banners.

Currently we have an affiliate disclosure (like in the US law) and a standard Privacy Policy on these sites.

Please advise - Is there anything else we should implement on the site to comply with the law ?
What most webmasters do on simple affiliate / cpa review or Adsense UK sites?

Thanks

All these cookie popups really piss me off. So no, don't bother because I'm a UK resident and I'll hate your site if you bother me with cookie nonsense.

    to quote Tim Ferriss;

"it's better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission."

Do as you always did in the US and if some UK third party asks you to change then do so.

The interpretation of what the law means (it's an EU law) differs greatly among big sites.

I've seen sites with pop-ups that won't disappear unless you click them, sites with pop-ups that disappear automatically, sites with simple text footnotes, and sites with nothing.

I can live with the footnotes, all the others are too annoying for words.

I'll be happy to ignore it The question is what is the risk especially from networks..

For example can PaidOnResults, Monetise.co.uk , Adsense etc' ban / not pay using that as an excuse ?

These are obviously small sites, but we aim to rank high for competitive keywords, so the risk in case one of the site will rank high, make money and piss off competitors (that may try any kind of complaint) should also took into account.

Ye, make sense. Thanks for the answers. I think I'll just keep it as is, maybe bump the privacy policy to the top menu.
