Ezine articles getting stricter?

Well I noticed now that all my articles are being turned down this last week. They are no different from what I have put up in the past but now for some reason they keep hammering me on keywords. They state that I am using the keyword to often in the post.

The problem is that my phrase deals with debt and credit. So I have a long tail keyword I am targeting in the title which I have maybe three times through out the article of 500 words. They are stating that I cant use credit, loan, personal loan, etc more than once in 100 words of the article. This is getting stupid if you cant write an article without using what its about more than once in 100 words.

I also bought the 3 months of being at the top of the list. Though they do review it in about an hour and have it posted its 10 times harder to get your articles posted cause they reject them all. Oh and my latest of articles now is reject due to the anchor text being to long. They state that it can only be 3 words long!? Why is it now all of the sudden my sig cant have 4 word anchor text? Havent had a problem until this week. I just am getting so frustrated with these guys its not funny.

Its unfortunate Google decieded to deem them Kings of the article sites I am about done with them myself. I had three articles rejected for no reason and by the time they looked at them realized they were good and released them it took 24 days!

I believe they allow up to 3 words anchor text now.

Once in a while I may have a problem getting an article listed there. If so I try to fix it if I know what it is and it's simple without taking value from my article.

If that's not the case, then I just submit it elsewheres with no problem.

Yes Ezine has definitely become stricter with what they are accepting (on an adhoc basis) but the real problem is that its not applied universily or consistantly. It seems some editors/reviewers are declining articles without even reading them whilst others are being extremely pedantic. I just wish that they would be consistant across the board.

      Hi Iplusgold:

Hope the week was good. There have been a couple of issues that people mention often about Ezine and I have to agree. There have to be ground rules that give everyone the same playing field. If I write an article on the same topic you do and we both have the same words and quality it is completely ridiculous that you may get published and I receive rejection based on which eyes looked at the content.

The other thing which I have found wrong that many article sites have as a rule is not to allow clickable links in the text of the article. I don't mean the resource box. The reason this is wrong in cases of a true article without spam is if they do a review say of your internet product or my books and are offering solid information, what would be so terrible if the reader has the convenience of a clickable link? The author may not feel like they want to have the link to your product or my book in the resource box, it is only fair they can promote their own.

From the day the article sites were created they should have let the clickable link in the text as long as it is not used 345 times in 300 words and not offensive. I am not asking them to have links for regrowing hair or how to lose 45 pounds in 3 minutes but for actual sites that are respected.

      Thanks for your time!

Just have to say, I love that word (pedantic).. lol.. don't see that one too often.

But to stay on topic, it's been over a year since the last time I had trouble getting an article approved on EzineArticles, and that article was clearly an ad for an affiliate product so I didn't really expect it to slip through their approval process. Just this past week I submitted a very quick rewrite of a PLR article I had lying around on my hard drive, I'm sure it's been submitted to them before and I didn't rewrite it much (it was about 15% unique, not my best rewriting work but I was in a hurry), it was approved within a week.

They just sent back 4 of my articles, some for similar reasons. I don't get the anchor text rule, I don't see how it matters. I also don't feel like bending over backwards to please them when I could be using PPC much more efficiently.

I'd like to thank EZA for curing me of this disease called "article marketing."

This is true since now if you looked for the anchor links they dont show up for ezinearticles. Go articles or the other top ones are much better. I just wish I never bought that membership!

Are you sure you're talking about Ezinearticles.com? All of my anchor text links are allowed in the articles I submit. Perhaps you were using more then 3 words for yoru anchor text. if so that is unallowed per a change to their TOS several months ago.

Yeah, I really don't get why so many marketers rely on them. GoArticles has the SAME page rank and although their articles may not place as high in Google on their own as those of EZA, with a backlink campaign they do much, much better. I put up an article on GoArticles a couple of Fridays ago (in the evening) then did a backlink campaign to it and by Saturday morning, it was on Page One of Google. It wasn't even in the index Friday night. If I relied on EZA, I'd be pulling my hair out. Seriously.

    Jason,
This rule has been in effect for quite awhile. EZA went to the 3 words for anchor text in order to curb the abuse being done by folks using sentences as their anchor text.

You can get away with a 4 word anchor text provided it makes sense and is not meant to game the system.

I feel your pain with the rejections but just know that some days we are the pigeon and some days we are the statue.

Work your way through this minor obstacle and you will be ahead of your competitors.

I had a few articles rejected recently because EZA thought that they didn't provide enough original ideas. Not "original content", but original ideas.

Blew my mind. I have seen what gets published in EZA and I know the quality of my own writing. No biggie if they don't want my article. I just made it into a Hubpages hub and am getting traffic from it.

But I have had a number of my articles getting rejected for minor, sometimes non-existent" issues.

I re-wrote and submitted one article three times, and they still rejected it. Each time.

I'm still submitting articles to them because they are the Big Dog on the block (at least for now). But I don't do so as enthusiastically as I used to.

Yeah, they can definitely be a pain every once in a while. However, I think this has to do with individual editors as opposed to EZA as a whole.

I don't know, their guidelines can be extremely random at times. I remember back when I was starting out I was spewing out short and choppy articles like clockwork and they were still getting accepted with ease. And then when I try to put together a content rich article with a lot to offer they'll tell me that "my keyword density is too high".

But like I said, I think it really has to do with who happens to be your editor at the time.

        Here's a laugh for you.

About a week ago, I submitted an article to EA that gave instructions on a particular subject. Nowhere in the article did I mention the affiliate product I was promoting. Never do I put an affiliate link in my article bios - in all my years submitting to EA. I provide a link directly to a page on my own site where I do the pre-sell and give additional advice on the subject.

Generally, my articles are approved in about 2 days without problems. In 2-3 years, I've only had perhaps 3 articles rejected because I missed some rule. So you can imagine my surprise when this one got rejected.

        The reasons:

It promoted a product, and that wasn't allowed! And it was an affiliate product.

        HUH?!

I queried The Boss, Mr. Knight, indicating that this is how I've always submitted articles - offering help not promotion - no affiliate links - and he responded that "We try to catch them but sometimes a few slip by." In other words, my other 300+ articles were not rejected because they "slipped by"?

I blasted another note to The Boss defending my article and bio box, pointing out that the rejection was invalid as it was just not true. He didn't reply. I haven't been back since, so I don't know what happened with the article - and like many of you, I'm beginning not to care.

Oh, BTW, one of those 3 previously rejected articles had anchor text that was too long - it was the title of my own book (8 words) that I was promoting .

On another top article directory, I'm getting grief about my articles which all contain valid, helpful content.

It's aggravating that the so-called editors can't spot a good, valid and informative article when they see one.

I know what you mean, they have rejected several of my articles to, they state i have to many keywords through out the article and that it's considered keyword stuffing, so i go and check several other articles related to my niche written by other authors and guess what, those articles are stuffed with the same keywords over and over through out the article. This is getting ridiculous.

Personally I think internally EZA is starting to feel the pressure from Google about the quality of their articles either directly from big "G" or indirectly. So hence the shot down articles and increased quality control.

Yeah I kind of have a love/hate relationship with EZA. Once you've done it for a while you can pretty much tell what will go through and what won't. But yeah, some of their rules are ridiculous.

However if you DO get them approved they can drive some serious traffic. I don't think they're that bad that it would be worth it to ignore it.

The ironic thing is that even being a Poe wouldn't be a cure-all, because, as a number of people have voiced it above, it depends on other factors which are even less tangible than the article's quality. I am starting to get the impression that EA is turning into the dmoz of the article world.

I've been in the same boat recently. I hadn't posted to EZA for a while and got back on there doing the same as I had been doing before (about 2% density) and everything I submitted was rejected. Funny thing was one of the articles was rejected for a random word that I hadn't even been trying to target (while the main keyword wasn't picked up as having any problems)

I submit about 30 per week and rarely get them rejected. Just make sure you only use your keyword once per 100 words, make sure you content delivers what the title promises and make sure everything is 100% unique.

i use DupeFree Pro - Avoid Duplicate Content and Online Content Plagiarism to check my keyword density, its a free tool and it works great

In the long run it will be better for everyone that they tighten up their guidelines
