How many computer screens do you use to run your IM business?

Do you use more than one to do the different tasks (maybe PPC campaigns on one, general website marketing on another, research on another), or do you just have several browsers open on the same computer to carry out different tasks?

It would be especially interesting to hear from well established marketers who earn a very good living because I think they are more likely to do this.

Great setup. I use my laptop for the most part but there are many tasks I do on my desktop and do use two monitors. Two come in VERY handy.

I've been looking to set myself up with something like this!

I have a macbook pro now and everything from that but I need to upgrade...

Trying to decide whether to get a imac, macbook, or a desktop dual-screen like that one.

Have two Monitors attached to a Quad,
3 Desktops again attached to one each.
3 Laptops when I am away.
    Rest on VPS

But love my dual monitor to run multiple work on one.

    One.

I can only look at one at a time. I don't do anything that requires splitting a huge image over two adjacent screens, or anything like that.

Yes, I typically have 4 or 5 or 6 windows open at a time, and my word-processor, too.

I use a laptop with 3 additional screens. It does allow me to multitask. So typically I have one screen for emails, another for research, another for skype, and the last one for running programs such as for link building. Just makes for easier monitoring.

Yeah i'm all about 2 screens. A 24" Imac for the main stuff, and a 19" monitor for email, skype etc.

I've got a staff member who uses four, but we give him a lot of crap, he's like something out of the minority report.

As a random bit of trivia, apparently most staff at Google have 2 screens, on their sides so that whole documents can be read at one time. Seems kinda cool.

2 monitors are the most ideal on internet marketing. But having more than 2 seems awkward for me. It will makes you feel like working on NASA. Surveying the flight of an space shuttle or working on USGS where a hurricane warning is raised on the country. You should have at least (2) for multitasking. Hmm how about doing non-related stuff?

2 monitors. I use one for main work, the other helps in its own way -

I can play vids/movies on it, I can keep my twitter client (destroy twitter, is awesome and simple) on there, xchat goes on there, sometimes I need two monitors to work in two sites without feeling cluttered, etc.

I myself use one at any one time (desktop upstairs) and laptop in the living room with multiple windows of a browser open and the TV on the wall so its not all work. However, if you do a bit of day trading (I do it on the same computer which is not ideal) on top or extensive research, I think may be wise to have more than one screen as switching between windows can make you a little less productive than you would otherwise be. If you do go with multiple screen setup, I think the monitors have to be side by side and of equal size to get the full value.

I guess I am doing it backwards. 4 desktops run into one monitor with one keyboard running them all. I can right click between towers or do it through a button on the keyboard. I have several laptops also but do not care for them at all. They look brand new and my desktop keyboard has very few letters left on it lol.

I would take a picture of my desk but .. you can't see it at the moment. It looks like someone is living at it.

I need a lot of real estate for what I do. I could never get by on a laptop, or dual monitor system. By this time next year I will be running four 50' flat screens. I build my own box and it's always a screamer. Right now I'm using 3 asus 24" monitors and a 42" for when I need a national view of things. But then I operate in a lot of areas too.

I use two 23" displays with my desktop because it's convenient for me with the way I work. The extra 'real estate' is extremely helpful at times. While I can do just about everything on my 15" notebook, if needed, I appreciate the extra workspace an extra display gives me when I'm at home.

Multi tasking has been proven to be detrimental to productivity. I love having two screens to work on one task and project at a time. For instance, one for FTP while I'm building out sites, but I also just use my macbook and shortcut keys to do what i need. I do like having it hooked to larger monitor though. It works for me. When I started in IM, I didn't have money (pawned my comp after 2008 crash and being laid off) and I worked from the library computer. So, really it's what works, works.

    Be well,

Between 2 and 4 on any given day.

However that will be increasing when I start doing my forex/stock stuff in the coming year.

This may sound like a lot of screens, but I don't actually multi-task, when I'm working each screen as an aspect of the current task I'm working on. It allows me to jump between everything quickly.

Hi Anton543! Personally I only use my one macbook pro, but I have heard of

cases where people use multiple computers simple because everything that

distracts them( Facebook, Twitter, and even world of warcraft) is linked to one computer so they don't use it when they're supposed to be working.

I even heard of a case where one fellow couldn't shake world of warcraft and

ended up going out to purchase a brand new pc(personally world of warcraft would be uninstalled now) just for work. In closing I would

just say to each his own but I think personally it can be done with a little

discipline of course with just one laptop/desktop.

    Kind regards

I use two screens most of the time. Sometimes I have my laptop open which is also connected to a second screen, so I have 4 screens going at once. Add in my 65-inch TV for background noise and smartphone and it's not uncommon for me to have 6 screens all on at once.
