Squeeze Page Confusion

Hello guys, I just recently got back from a holiday at Australias Gold Coast (beautiful place) and whilst on the beach was thinking a lot about Internet Marketing.

The past couple days for me have involved

setting up hosting
a clean professional looking blog
a domain name
writing some good quality articles aimed towards genuinely helping people
setting up aWeber

I do have have an aWeber widget on my site clearly displayed on the top right. I know this isn't really list building.

My initial thoughts are to focus my efforts on getting targeting traffic to my blog, because I know most will find my information useful and some will subscribe. Then, I realize how many times I read on here "money is in the list" and think well perhaps I should be sending them to a squeeze page first in order to establish a real list.

How do you guys approach this?

Should I spend half the time promoting a squeeze page and the other half promoting my blog?

I have just started using header and footer plugin to add optin at the bottom of posts. So far this is working surprisingly well. Might be worth a shot and completely free to try.

Personally, I want them on my list more than I want them on my blog. By getting a free report of mine in front of them and getting them on my list, I can do more than if they just show up at my blog and happen to subscribe. I direct nearly 100% of my traffic to a squeeze page now and it works so much better.

Don't you find it much much harder to promote a squeeze page than a blog?

Any squeeze page looks like spam initially and I have found that blog links are far more accepted as a way of self-promotion.

I'm not saying it's more effective but there has been occasions on forums where I have been "banned for spamming" when in fact all I did was add a link to my squeeze page in relation to some of my posts. On the other hand if I had posted my blog link instead (like most other members were doing) I am positive no ban would have occured.

      That's just my experience anyhow

Do you know what a two stage squeeze is?

They look like a blog post if done correctly. They qualify your readers before you get them to sign up. If you had been linking to a two stage you would not have been banned.

Google PPC was the main reason most of us started using them a few years back. Most of my blog post in the new blog I am making is actually a two stage if you are not a free member of my blog. If you are a member then they appear as any other blog post.

I have been looking for information on a two-stage squeeze page and I can't find much on it.

Just... "where the first page has content and ends with a question that brings them to the actual squeeze page"

So it takes you to a blog post that's intended to engage the reader enough to click the link, the link then takes you to a squeeze page and effectively away from the blog?

An example would be brilliant if anyone is willing?

I have gotten to the point of not going into a lot of detail here because three of my post in the last 6 months have ended up becoming someone other than my own WSO or squeeze bait.

A simple two stage squeeze can go like this.

You drive traffic to a blog post that Gives information about a topic in a way that makes the reader see you know what you are talking about. After 4 or 5 paragraphs you insert a "read more" link. When they click to read more they are taken to a "Due to the extreme value of this information it has been placed on a protected page. The good news is membership is free" Get their email address and use the AR redirect to take them to the rest of the information. You must make sure you give them what you promise at this point.

In the Im niche .. if you show them the money they will show you theirs.

I see, thank you very much.

I imagine that a membership plugin is essential here so that the usual readers are not confronted with these links?

A plug in is useful but not actually a must have. You can set a password for the protected content and give the password to the reader through the AR. Once they type the password in once it works on the rest of the post without needing to type it in again.

On the limited access page just put a members click here link. You don't need to do this on every post anyway.

No I don't find it hard at all. Yes, you have to be a bit careful with some promotion methods, but most will allow you to link to a squeeze page. If not, that's when you promote your blog with a sidebar form for subscribing.

I find, with a simple squeeze page I get my message across very quickly and my conversions from visitor to subscriber are much better. Plus, you can use your thank you page to promote a cheaper product and slowly work them into trusting you before you promote higher end things.

Well done, indeed: these are huge steps forward, and income's typically "extremely limited" without them.

For myself, I don't use squeeze pages.

You'll build a bigger list with squeeze pages, but not necessarily make more money from it. I've split-tested this a lot, in my own business, and explained a little more about it in these posts ...

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7356460 (last few paragraphs)

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982 (third point on the list)

That said, I'm not suggesting that "just having an opt-in on your site" is going to product your optimal outcome - far from it.

The opt-in, in my opinion, needs to be prominently incentivized, offering something of real value in exchange for their email address ("notification of updates to the site" won't cut it at all), it needs to provide a security/privacy reassurance, it needs to be attractively designed and prominent in itself, and so on.

    People's opinions differ, about this.

In the long run, you should split-test for yourself whether you make more money, over some fixed time-period, from a list built with a squeeze page or one built from an opt-in on your blog. But this is difficult and time-consuming and probably not something you can realistically do right at the start.

I'm posting only really to offer the suggestion that you shouldn't assume that "the biggest list" will necessarily produce the most income, because in my experience across a range of niches, the potentially "best customers" include significant numbers of people who won't opt in to a pure squeeze page (I have proved that, for myself, reliably and repeatedly), and there are reasons for that, and it's all a lot more complicated than many people appreciate.

Three Page Website is all you need to make money online!

    1. Squeeze page: Here you do not sell but offer a free gift to your visitors, such as a free eBook or video course. Also it has been tested if you give a visitor to many options when they first arrive they will leave. This is why on your squeeze page only have 1 - which is sign in

    2. Thank you page: Where you thank your visitor for signing up.

    3. Download Page: Here is where the visitor downloads the FREE gift you offered them.

After this you then will send valuable weekly tips and tricks about your subject matter.

    Hi Guys,

I would recommend sending them to your blog first.

If they like what you are writing they are more likely to click on the link to your squeeze page.

Remember, building your list is not about having numbers, it is about having people interested in your niche so you can sell them something later once you have formed a relationship with them.
