I use Facebook the most for socializing. For business I use Linkedin as it has always outperformed Facebook for me. I post on Facebook where I have lots of friends and sell nothing. I use Linkedin and I'll make a few sales and get a lot of subs. For me, Linkedin kills it for marketing.

My results are probably niche specific though, so they aren't an ultimate answer.

LinkedIn is full of corporate douches bags and FaceBook is full of tossers.

I wish there was a space for regular people.

... oh by the way, FaceBook is going to win hands down in this poll.

      Just saying.

Since I promote my Facebook pages, I don't get much time for LinkedIn. But I do not forget to open it once a day. LinkedIn can be used as a very good marketing tool; I realized its power some weeks ago when one my blog posts on Entrepreneurship was picked up as a featured post and in less than 24 hours I had over 5000 visitors coming from LinkedIn :-)

Facebook and Twitter. I think I go back to LinkedIn about once every few months, stay for 5 minutes, get confused, and run as fast as I can.

Yeah, I understand LinkedIn is where the business is at but I always seem to spend more time on facebook. It maybe todo with the fact that I don't have as many connections on LinkedIn that i know personally.

Facebook.. #1 or #2 in the world....

LinkedIn I never really understood but not knocking it. I know there are people who make a living off LinkedIn...

I just never figured out how to grasp how to work it and i don't really like their infrastructure..

I also heard the CEO is kinda slacking on it's growth; like he's not focused on it.. Don't know how true it is but there has been a considerable drop in the popularity of linkedin in recent years..

Linkedin can be brilliant if you enter the forums and position yourself as an expert.

The main difference between the two is that the people using Linkedin have money to spend, whereas those using Facebook have time to kill.

I've sold products and services for thousands on Linkedin. Try that on Facebook, where your average user is bored/unemployed lol.

It totally depends on the purpose of what you're trying to sell.

    Business to consumer = Facebook
    Business to business = Linkedin

In either case, you need to lead with "entertaining" content that leads the bread crumb trail back to your sales funnel. People don't go to social media sites to be sold stuff, they go to see what their friends are up to.

    Practical Example:

If I was selling guitars, I might run Facebook ads to people with guitar, music, and specific band interests in their profile. I might send them to a piece of content on the "10 craziest guitars used by famous rock stars" as part of my optin bait.

If I was selling repair parts to other guitar stores, I might post in some related Linkedin groups about "The 10 craziest customer returns on guitar repairs" to get the conversation started with business owners.

In either case, the content is designed to be relatable and entertaining to the user but it also leads into my sales funnel. It's not pushy either so people don't resist your sales pitch in that form.

I hope that makes sense and properly addresses your reasoning behind the question.

    Facebook!

You can build relationships, and trust much easier with Facebook - which will convert to more sales down the road

I use none well apart from my blog posts get sent to Facebook but that's it I never log into it I hate both sites and dislike social networking so I decided to go against the grain as an Internet Marketer and not use social networking.
