Article Submission -- Manual or Automated?

Hi,

The question for tonight is pretty simple.

I want to get into article marketing and I was just wondering, should I submit the articles manually or should I actually buy a piece of software to submit for me?

Which one is better? Manual or Automated?

    I have the same question.

I've heard that auto submit can get you into trouble with some article directories.

    Any recommendations would be great!

Automated, if it actually works obviously, and as long as the software you use respects the Terms of Service of article directories.

Article directory owners are not against automatic submissions per se, but they have fight against junk, spam, and improperly formatted articles - and they get a lot of these by automatic submissions.

    My suggestion:
-Get a program which respects article directories, doesn't care only about the submission but cares also if your article gets accepted or not. For example, you should get a program which formats the article properly for each directory. For example, some directories want you to mark new paragraphs with <p> tags, some just line breaks etc. etc. Very very few programs do that.
-Get a program which is NOT web based. Because some users will abuse it, and article directories will start banning that IP address. Get a program which does submissions in undetectable 'stealth' mode, simulating what a web browser would do.

I haven't found an automated software that works very well.

I got around this by hiring a VA to do article submission for me. It is very cost effective to go this route. Also once your VA is done you can have them submit you a summary so you can check and see where all your articles are.

They usually all get accepted if they are a quality article and they are submitted correctly, i.e. by a human.

Milan, does your software do this? If so, how should the article be submitted to YOUR app? Plain text? Or, html?

I'm not a fan of automated. Yes it is quicker but some sites disapprove of them which could result you in being removed. WHich is why I don't take the risk and manually do them

Yeah - I'm using a VA for a lot of my article submission too. Though sometimes I still use Article Submitter (from Brad Callen). It seems to work reasonably well, with only a few small issues.

Also, doing it manually should be out of the question if you're serious: at least get a program to fill in forms in your browser for you (login data, article body). This saves a lot of time, and you can still be a heavy control freak if that's what you want.

I personally use a combination, manual to the major directories and a web based human controlled service for the rest. For the short time, I have been doing this ( 3 month) I am happy with the results so far in respect of back links and take up of articles by other uses.

As for me, I submit only to EZA. My VA submit to other article directories. I don't really like softwares... pretty boring stuff.

But there are no problem with semi automated softwares, all they do is speeding the process, so you can use them.

The best way to use is to submit it by yourself so that your articles will be approved. And make sure that it is very high quality article so that all directories can approved your articles. And lastly, it should not be copyrighted.

    Very cool, Milan.

So, if we're using plain text in your app, I assume formatting (such as bold) is out?

No, very basic formatting like bold, italics is okay. <b></b> <i></i> and <u> </u>

And then, your app strips those tags for the sites that are plain text only? That's VERY slick, Milan.

          Hi Sebastian-

As an article directory owner, I get a 50/50 mix of manual submissions versus
automatic and both methods are recommended.

There are quite a few submission software products you can buy as
well as joining a service like Article Marketer, Article Apps and UAW.

I don't favor one over the other, they all do about the same.
However, you should choose a method that will allow you to
submit 'Unique' versions or your article for the greatest results.

Feel free to stop by my site for some tips, and we would love
for you to join us in the process!

          Good luck!

In my opinion, if you're serious with your article marketing, I prefer manual, most of the time auto submit software fails, because every article directory owners made little adjustment on their submission form the software don't work any more. And there are many factors that cause the auto submit fails.

    Hi Sebastian

I use SubmitYourArticle.com also and have found it easy to use, plus they have a few little extras worth taking a look at.

The price is quite reasonable too as long as you make use of your allocation.

    Hope this helps

Never get too obsessed about this questions if you've never even trying to write and submit an article.

I think it makes more sense the other way around. Try auto and if THAT doesn't work, do manual. If it fails on manual, there's little chance it will work on auto.

as far as I understand its not the method of submitting that can cause problems, its what you submit.

You submit the same identical article to thousands of directories, it probably won't help much, whether you submit by hand, by robot, by post, by rocketship, by mindmeld.

Yea i've also not stepped into the field of automatic article submission as i am afraid my articles might get banned, imagine how it would feel to get banned by EA? (is this possible?)

I have also tried the 7-day demo from Article Post Robot and the amount of work needed to prepare different variations of text files for titles, resource bio, keywords etc and slotting them into tags puts me off. I would rather use the time to concentrate on writing a high quality unique article!

    Hi milan,

    Quick question!

How does your software handle categories within the directories?

Are they generic, or can the user navigate at some point (before or during submission) to the specific categroy that fits their article?

      Hi Dave,
No, they are not generic. They are the actual categories copied into the program. After you define the group of the directories you submit your article to, you get this dialog (http://www.automaticarticlesubmitter.com/cat1.png ) where you can select all the categories. You enter a keyword and program pre-selects the categories, than you just correct the ones that need to be corrected.

    Hi Milan,

Thanks for your answer, and I got your PM.

Just to be absolutely clear about categories; Some article directories might have a broad category like 'Travel', and then various sub-categories beneath that, like 'Destinations'', 'Accommodation', 'Cruises', 'Flights', and then many sub-categories beneath that; Am I correct in understanding that your software will allow me to dig as deep as I need to to select my category?

    Thanks

    Dave

that's one of the problems with autosubmitters. The best use complicated programming to select the closest match to what was actually wanted (assuming it doesn't exist).

I recently had a sneak preview of Adeel Chowdry's Mass Article Creator. (not an affiliate link). I believe it is due to be launched within the next few days.

In my opinion it is much better than a standard article spinner, as it works on the basis of making changes to your existing article - so you do the work to create one article in your area of expertise, but the software can chop and change it around to generate a heap of new articles from it.

It looks really cool to me. Not expensive either. I think this would work well for you, if you couple it with an article submitter.

As other's have suggested, to look credible you need to put the work in, but the smart thing is to put the work in to the important bits (like the writing) and let some software automate the tedious and repetitive tasks (like reformatting and submitting).

I manually submit articles and auto-feed the social bookmarking sites. Articles are to important and yield long term benefits. I just feel they need more individual attention. Besides I only submit to three article sites so it's not a big deal.

I am a total newbie and have Brad Callen's Article Submitter program. After signing up to just article sites with a PR of 3 or more (about 100 of them), I was able to auto submit to about 50% of them, and half of those failed.

The best part of that program is the auto filling of the forms, and I think that's all I will use it for and submit to perhaps 70 of those sites and then submit manually to the likes of ezinearticles.

I don't know. I'm still in the dark.

That doesn't sound right, to me. Once submitted and accepted by the directory, how would Google have any way of figuring out what was submitted by hand and what was automated?
