Hello Warriors
I am very elated and a very proud owner of my very first blog and website. Thanks to all who have contributed. I actually came to this Warrior forum many times before to get some tips and advice from the many postings. I know the next stage is to get traffic to your website. I have waited for one week already and no visitors yet.

Please advice how I can direct visitors to my website and also to built an email list in an efficient and economical way.

Thanks to all.

Join forums and any other sites which are related to the same niche as your website. You can join their community and also promote your website there. You dont want to spam though,
    Good luck

Your site will not receive much organic search engine traffic because the home page and the blog are not relevant. Also, the blog is new and thin in content, so you will not rank high in the SERPs.

There is a section here that discusses SEO:

Well I'm glad you're not sticking with the waiting for visitors. Post it and they will come is not an option.

You need to start making others in your niche community aware of and interested in you. Start visiting other related blogs and forums. You can find these simply by Googling (your niche) forum and (your niche) blog

Start leaving helpful comments. Ideally you should include a link to your blog that people can use if they find your contributions interesting, just like people here use their signatures.

If you are on Facebook look for others interested your niche and also look for related Groups you could join and contribute to.

Also don't forget to look for what others in your niche are doing to get traffic. Your most successful competitors are probably using the methods that work best in your niche.

I took a look at your site. It has not very much content.

That is the problem with too many people these days. They create something like this and then wonder why no one is visiting it.

    But that can be fixed.......

I would create an opt in form on your site where people can subscribe to your newsletter. This is very important.

Then you need traffic. For that I would use pay per click, banner ads, solo ads, start writing articles in your niche, talk about your niche in a video and then upload it to YouTube.

These are just a few but it is a great way to start.

Hi Kimanna, congratulations on taking action. You and I are in a very similar situation. I'm being taught to build my list by giving away something free that people have to enter their name and email to get.

Create a free e-book that your visitors would be interested in. Don't think about it, just do it. Of course, choose your autoresponder wisely.

I'm going to leave a comment on your blog, and it will backlink to my blog. You can do that with other blogs in your niche also, and you can get traffic that way. Leave about 5-10 comments on other blogs per day.

I would also say change the graphic in your heading, because my first thoughts when I saw your site was that it was a site about wind / green energy. Still, loving that you took the first step.

Getting starting is always the best step to take, and wordpress is a great platform. There are many plugins that can help you accomplish the technical aspects of SEO.

Like Dax said, design is one element that will help you accomplish your goal. The question is, what do you want your visitor to do? Is there some action you want them to take? Even if it is just to build your brand, a newsletter or email followup will help bring them back to your website.

Best of luck, and keep working toward your goals.

Here is a quick and simple traffic strategy that you can use to start generating some interest in your site:

        1) Post regular content to you blog.
        2) Take the link to that content and submit it to reddit.com
        3) Take the link to that content and submit it to digg.com
        4) Take the link to that content and submit it to stumbleupon.com
        5) Open a zimbio.com account and submit your content there.
        6) Create a facebook page and post a link to your content on the page.
        7) Create a twitter account and post a link to your content on twitter.

Start approaching people with similar sites to yours and start building relationships. Offer to write them a guest post with links back to your site.

Sign up to forums which are relevant to your niche and contribute positively in them. Place a link in your signature and provide massive value.

Hope this gives you a few ideas,

        Kind regards,

It may be that you need to have a minimum number of posts before you can thank someone, but don't quote me on that.

It is meant to be on the right hand side below the persons post....

    Hello Kimanna

One of the fastest and easiest ways to get visitors to your site is to share with the social networks like Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Linkedin.

You may also wish to share your content on Pinterest as well as the main social bookmarking sites like Reddit, Stumbleupon and Digg.

Another huge benefit can be to create articles at Street Articles - Where Writers Become Authors and/or http://www.ezinearticles.com which link back to your blog.

Try to come up with a highly exceptional and controversial content for your blog that will serve as a link bait. Once it becomes 'viral,' you will surely benefit from the traffic.

    ***HEADS UP: LONG POST***

Go grab current and recent back issues of wildly popular local magazines (for your target local markets) in your niche. You can also go to www.magazine.com. Then:

Study the headlines of relevant cover stories in those magazines, and of course the cover stories themselves. Next:

Develop your own set of topic and headline ideas from those headlines and cover stories. Select the best one (topic and headline), and develop a comprehensive content material about that topic and headline. Next:

Post that content material as an offer that your viewers can get by signing up to your mailing list. Then:

Select topics and headlines (from the ones that remain in your list of topic and headline ideas), particularly ones that will serve as excellent "trailer" or "preview" content to what your main download offer provides. Write posts about those topics and headlines, then publish it as posts in your site. Next:

Select remaining topic and headline ideas that'll serve as excellent follow-up content to your main download offer. Write about those topic and headline ideas, then integrate it into your autoresponder series. This means those content materials will be drip-emailed to your mailing list subscribers in an interval you want after they become your subscribers (after they get your main download offer). Now, at this point, you need traffic. So:

Go to www.technorati.com/blogs/directory and select a category or a sub category that's closely related to your niche. Technorati will then display a list of popular blogs in your niche. Next:

Select 5 or so blogs, particularly ones that aren't operated by corporations or big businesses, then go to www.compete.com to get US traffic estimates (I assume you're targeting US markets?) of those blogs. Then:

If those blogs have excellent US traffic stats, go to those blogs and study the most relevant, most recent and most popular (in this order) posts in those blogs. Next:

If those most relevant, most recent and most popular posts match your main download offer, then take note of the contact details of the owners or webmasters of those blogs. Otherwise, go back to Technorati and do the things above until you get what you want. At this point:

Take note of those most relevant, most recent and most popular posts. Use this data to develop guest posts that will serve as excellent follow-up posts to those most relevant, most recent and most popular posts. Include in these guest posts a paragraph, usually as the last paragraph of these guest posts, a brief description about your relevant expertise and some of the most recent posts in your own site that can provide supplemental content not found in those guest posts. Link relevant keywords to those posts in your site (most blog owners/webmasters accept one link per guest post, but there are others who accept two links per post). Then:

Contact those blog owners and webmasters. Offer them your guest posts. Next:

Post new content on your site, do the things above regularly and mix in other natural traffic generation campaigns, such as forum posting and video marketing. Now, to close this long post:

Take a look at the US traffic stats of this site and this one in www.compete.com -- We've been doing the guest posting and other traffic generation strategies above, since 2010, for these two sites. Well, we've been handling a lot of sites for our clients, but these two sites are in ridiculously competitive niches. Hope this helps...
