Blog Entries: 1 | Amid a devastating Covid-19 surge, Los Angeles County ambulance crews told not to transport patients with little chance of survival By Alexandra Meeks and Christina Maxouris, CNN Updated 8:54 AM ET, Tue January 5, 2021 Excerpt.. With no hospital beds available, ambulance crews in the county were given guidance not to transport patients with little chance of survival. And the patients who are transported often have to wait hours before a bed is available. |

When I read "This politician said" I want to see the whole interview. I want to see them say it on video. I just assume it isn't true, even if I want it to be true. My wife yells at the TV set (something completely alien to her character) when she hears a story about someone she reviles. I may say "I want to see the whole statement, the whole interview. It could have been taken out of context". She gets really angry at that because she thinks I'm disagreeing with her. But if I'm going to hate someone, it better be because of something real.

Why is no one (on the news) stating the obvious: Demanding vaccines in the tens or hundreds of millions of doses RIGHT NOW is just plain ridiculous. States knew the vaccines were coming - but several states did not have a workable plan for distribution. A teacher friend told me today she had a letter from her teachers' union calling out the Ohio Government so their vaccine distribution decisions. The decision was announced two days ago - that teachers and school personnel working in schools that have PHYSICAL IN PERSON CLASSES are high priority to get the vaccine. Teachers working in 'virtual online' classes are not priority. Sounds like common sense to me. The letter complaining was sent the same day of the announcement - sounds like 'knee jerk' doesn't it? I think the 'half dose' is as dumb as allowing top level hospital administrators to be listed as 'front line workers'. What's next - give just one shot when the RESEARCH shows two shots are necessary to protect you? I think many people were naive enough to believe the vaccine would be an instant, magic cure....they were told otherwise by the scientists but the media prefers the more negative view. I tried to find recent numbers of vaccine deliveries but almost all the data was written mid-december...one exception published a few hours ago by USAToday....
When CVS received permission to do testing - and other large pharmacies as well - all of sudden there were no lines...at least not here. I had an appointment for drive through testing - no waiting - 5 min and I was on my way back home. Delivery is the key - deliver XX doses per day to these pharmacies and let them organize and give the doses. If states and governments will get the vaccine to the pharmacies - and stop trying to micromanage the shots....the job will get done. It's going to take months but according to Fauci we will soon have 1 million doses of vaccines being sent out daily. That sounds like a lot of shots but even so, at 1 million a day it will take almost a year to vaccinate (2 doses) half the people in the US.

before the pharmacies can be approved to give the vaccines.. then need to have the capacity to store the vaccines properly .. and have the available staff certified to give the shot ..but once they are certified for this one.. the other vaccines coming will probably be covered .. and the companies making the glass viles and the equipment to fill the glass vials can ramp up .. and if you can store the current vaccine .. you can probably store the coming vaccines ..once they are approved ad in production .

Is this right? Anyone here tonight who lives in UK? I just heard on ABC nightly news that due to the most contagious new 'variation' of covid-19....1 in 50 people in the UK now have the virus. Can that be right? It sounds like a crazy number. If that is true - how many have to contract the virus before we begin too see some type of naturally occurred 'herd' immunity? Does everyone have to go through it? The number blew my mind. |

I'm curious, am I the only one in this thread that thinks the problems are really just getting started. For instance, the food supply. I'm not hoarding or anything but, I have been continuing to overbuy food and food supplies and stockpiling anything that I think will be a problem. In Florida where I live, there are months where you cant get specific food, or it gets stupid expensive... like 25.00 for a single small chicken. Yes there are months where you cant get corn or butter or some staple that you need. It's gotten a lot better over the last few months, but I don't think it's going to stay running smooth. I'm guessing a lot of what we bought over this last year is from stockpiles. I also bet a lot of growing and harvesting is going to be majorly affected by this. that's a tiny blip of what I'm thinking, what about you? Edit: Some really, really good news. My FL friend, the 911 operator was just offered the Moderna vaccine. She has to have an answer by 2 pm today. |

well, Boys and Girls... Remember in July when the new cases per day (7 day running average) peaked at 66,373...per day? We were panicking, thinking this was about as bad as it could be? The 7 day running daily average of new cases is now 214,147.....a day...in the US.... Oh, and the major cause of death in the US used to be heart disease with a daily average of 1,794 deaths per day in the US. Since December 3, 2020...Covid has been the #1 cause of death in the US (7 day running average). And now it's at 2,624...as a daily average (7 day average). Just a thought. |

Last year my purchaser bought two containers of PPE from an auction house and we received a gift container (48 x40x45) full of mixed seed packets. Kay suggested the seeds may turn out be the important, so I did a little research and sided with her opinion. Bought six of the containers and divided it for my family and friends. I used to say something like this a lot.. When you live in a house and the world around you goes bad.. sell the house and buy a sailboat. Today, when you find yourself landlocked.. buy seeds and hope for the best. S-U-R-E. And the fact it is flu season hasn't contributed? What about the bogus PCR tests that have been proven to be worthless Good for fear mongers, worthless for everything else. Oh, and isn't it odd that a virus that doesn't affect younger people suddenly spouts a a new strain that now affects kids? Particularly effective when you are finding out half the population are smart enough to avoid an untested, clearly not safe vaccine. It's a flu. Still Optimistic about 2021. Misinformation, misleading, mixed messages, missing the boat entirely.... currently it is pretty Chaotic. When you allow a mind that is prone to crazy theories to roam over science, this is what we end up with. What is the saying run a tight ship? A well-managed organization, as in The camp director runs a tight ship. This metaphoric term alludes to a ship in which the ropes are taut and by extension the ship is strictly managed. |

Blog Entries: 1 | Every 8 minutes, someone in Los Angeles County dies from Covid-19 By Cheri Mossburg and Theresa Waldrop, CNN Updated 7:44 PM ET, Thu January 7, 2021 Excerpt.. (CNN)A person dies from Covid-19 in Los Angeles County every eight minutes, the county said Thursday, underscoring how grim the situation has become in the nation's most populous county. More than 11,000 Los Angeles County residents have died of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the LA County Department of Public Health. Almost half -- more than 5,000 -- of those deaths have occurred in the past two months. "People who were otherwise leading healthy, productive lives are now passing away because of a chance encounter with the COVID-19 virus," LA County Health Director Barbara Ferrer said Wednesday, adding that the county is seeing more than 200 deaths each day. Just two weeks ago, Ferrer said there was one death every 10 minutes. |

In the US, the 7 day running average of daily deaths from Covid is now at 2,768. That's about 1,000 deaths more per day than the previous #1 cause of death in the US.

Just spoke to a acquaintance of mine. He had COVID rip through his department at work. He was down for over three weeks and lost 37 pounds. He's not a heavy guy, so this weight loss is going to be an issue for him. Even though he's finally shaken the virus, he's still fatigued. He said he tried carrying a basket of laundry up the stairs. He made it about a third of the way and had to lay down on the stairs. His wife had to basically carry him up the rest of the way once she found him laying there. The worst part of it for him, though, is that his department of 7 is now a department of 4 as three of his immediate coworkers died from it. Not from heart attacks. Not from prior chronic illnesses. From COVID. That's a straight reality. It's not a macro view looking at lost "quality years," or misused statistics taken out of context, or spin for political purposes. |

Like I said before, the Spanish Flu which I can say is similar in that it attacks the lungs, killed up to 6 percent of the population (statistics vary). No vaccine for it so it ran unabated and did it's thing. The "only" thing that caused it to die out was herd immunity due to it ripping through the world population. Those that were susceptible to it died and the rest had it and became immune, so it died out. This is just history repeating itself, except we have some vaccines.

Well..... We are now at 3,177 daily deaths (7 day running average) in the US. 28,000 deaths in the last ten days alone. A few more days, and we will have surpassed the average annual numbers of deaths from the flu. This is the #1 cause of death in the US, and it's at almost twice the death rate of the #2 cause (heart disease). |

And yet - deaths yesterday and today seem to be below 2000 each day - unless the counts are running behind. The numbers are fluctuating again. All of our friends who recently tested positive - are doing OK. No one has had to be hospitalized or even have any medical care. They have symptoms but just going through it and a couple already feel better. For all the fussing about number of vaccines delivered - only about 1/3 have been given out as shots....seems with all the waiting, many states didn't get around to doing much planning. Honestly, I've almost stopped watching local and network news about covid just because I'm sick of watching people get shots...DAILY.... |

That's why I report the seven day running average. It gives a better view of what's happening than quoting the weekend numbers, which are always lower....or reporting a couple of days where it's over 4,000.

The world looks likes its a hot mess, however in my little corner of the world... I can finally breathe a bit again and, by that, I mean that I don't have any more friends, family, or acquaintances currently sick or in the ICU. My kid's school has been shut down for covid, so I guess my choice to homeschool him was correct. Also, I was informed by the school that the CDC spoke to the Florida Board of education and the individual schools and said to expect a super surge among kids this week. I had no idea that they did that type of thing. So at this point, for me, unless someone in this household or my moms gets it, then my nightmare is over. As far as masks go, if you care or are still unsure if they actually do anything...I've easily had a hundred or so meetings in the last few months with-in a super spreading hotspot from hell and, so far, so good. AND yes, I have been contacted several times now where others in those same groups tested positive. For me, anecdotally speaking...masks and hygiene work. |

Johnson and Johnson is now in final test stage for their vaccine - and I continue to be totally amazed at how quickly these companies moved on this - this is far above what we have seen in the past. The J&J MAY be a one shot deal - because they are finding a high level of protection from that one shot. We'll know more after the final tests. The more vaccines, the better. It's like my family has been targeted now...for months we and our friends were so careful and protected ourselves every way we could. But we contracted the virus and got through it - right after that so many of our friends and extended family tested positive...but from all sorts of different sources. The good news is not ONE of them has been hospitalized and all are recovering...last we counted we know over 30 people affected just in the past month. I don't understand the 'school surge' prediction but maybe it's just Florida - schools in my specific area have been open all year and are doing fine...teachers and students both. Oldest grandson (finally) graduated from Colorado State with a degree in Construction Management (and a really good job waiting for him). I say "finally" because there were internships required and he always takes time to climb a mountain or two. I adore this 6'4" kid. It occurred to me that for a generation or two to come, so much of what happens in our lives will be listed on 'covid time'. Babies 'born during covid' - graduating 'during covid' - starting a business 'before or after' covid - being married 'during covid'.... |

Yesterday, we had a state worker stop in our store to make sure we had signs up saying customers had to wear masks, that we were wearing masks, and that we made sure the customer wore a mask. Still, about 30% of the people coming in our store either don't wear a mask, or wear one under their nose. I refuse to mention it, because i don't want to discuss it with them. I have heard from several friends that they aren't going to get vaccinated. Their rationale is that they won't die from it, so why bother. And again, I no longer discuss it. As soon as we can, Cheryl and I get vaccinated. |

The stress from seeing all of your friends and family getting sick and some going into the hospital with no way of knowing if they were coming back out was beyond anything I have ever dealt with in the past. I, a person who was known for never stressing, was woefully unprepared.
Because you can't, discussions generally dictate that facts are real. I know that one thousand people got vaccinated here in the ballpark the other day. And then they left and, as far as I know, there are no more vaccinations for here, for now.

I shudder when I see lines of people in and out of their cars - lined up for HOURS hoping to get a vaccine....It's worse than the latest iphone release... ...and then complaining that 'they ran out' or 'out of time', etc. How many are being infected with the virus as they gather waiting for 'a shot'? An older friend told me she's excited to get the vaccine - but will only do it when she csn get a specific appt to be vaccinated and be reasonably sure she won't be 'warehoused' in a waiting area for hours. I thought she was being smart.
I agree - as we've gotten calls in the past 2-3 days from friends and family who are feeling better, going back to work, it's like a weight is lifted.

The worldometers is the 'count' I've been looking at all along...you can click on US and get state by state, etc....It is often behind at the beginning of the week as some states don't seem to report their stats over the weekend.

Gotta hope the deal now is ... what next? As the vaccines roll out an' the numbahs come togethah, we gotta hope we emerge on the control side of this baby sumtime soon. Despite my bippety-boopsy hoppertimism, I can't see no catch-all cure soon — even for nowan stoopid enough naht to wannit. Feels like shots gotta be regular, an' emergency strategies always to hand for what will eventually become (she dreams) random & sporadic outbreaks. Likely we gonna end up with sumthin' nasty from which you may be struck down ... but against which we got a practicl slooshin. Longer term, prolly what mattahs is your POV on this inescapably singular moment in our history. Whethah you old or young, male or female, bellydancah stacking their navel joolz to the left or bellydancah stackin' their navel joolz to the right, you ain't untouched by what jus' happened here less'n you a decerebrate moron. But what you takin' outta this? I nevah wore a mask, my bloodline still pumpin' till 2050+, so wtf idc? Or is a will for nowan to be caught in accidentally cruel crossfire sufficient inspiration to do stuff kinda diffrent from now on? I would wish always to be immortal. In my heart, I am a phoenix kissin' beacons out on mountaintops so evrywan got a roarin' hearth to gather round if'n they got fire in their belly for adventure. But I can't do that if'n we got an unstoppable plague whose rampage depends, in part, on frickin' assholes. Hey, y'all know which side of the argument I on. So, where we pickin' up on stuff when this is (Trojan Vac Protected!) ovah? I would wanna take ishoo with blind eye prophets dazzled by denial. Jus' my opinion, poppets! |
Lightin' fuses is for blowin' stuff togethah.

Well, we are now at 3,351 daily deaths (7 day running average). Right at 400,000 deaths so far. That's in the US. |

My friend in the UK wrote me about a friend I had in my youth and his wife (who I knew). He had Covid and got through it. His wife had to be hospitalized. She eventually got through it. Not before having to put up being placed between two other beds where the occupants kept her up all night with there constant screaming, wailing and crying about their condition and fear of dying. Unknown if either died.

My kid jumps up, runs all of two feet into the corner by the exit, and crosses his fingers towards the doctor as if he is warding off a vampire. The doctor gets annoyed and asks my kid if he really thought that he was going to attack him with the pen. My kid points at the mask hanging around his neck and says I'm trying to social distance. The doctor says, well, I have to show you this, and the maks needs to be down for me to show you. And then he shows him. The doctor looked at me like I should say something to my kid. I did not say anything inside and when we did talk he said the doctor made him uncomfortable. That was Friday. Today, Monday, we get contact traced. The stupid doctor has covid. Btw after the doctor was finished, a nurse came in and gave Kenji the same directions without pulling down her mask. I am livid.

OK..... Over the last ten days, hospitalizations are trending downward, as are deaths and new cases. Still by far the #1 cause of death in the US...and ten days isn't a long time...but it may show that the terrifying upward trend has reversed. Maybe temporarily, maybe permanently I hope. |

The SCARRY part in all of this is the idea of herd immunity being 70 to 90% and all of the sudden they are saying we will be there by summer? OH MY... Vaccinated does not equal immunity, Immunity equals having had the disease. Say that last sentence yo yourself a few times.. and then understand we are currently at about 10% in the States.. a L O N G way to go... and if we are to think the last few months are bad.. and the suggestion is to be at Herd Immunity levels by summer... 70 to 90% all I can think to say here is WOW.

25,000,000 have had the virus in the US...talking with my family this week we all agreed we feel much less stressed now that we have all had covid - and survived it, thank goodness. We are not ignoring protocols or assuming we are totally safe but doctor says we do have a level of immunity and that makes going to the grocery or anywhere else far less stressful. In my area there are govt sites advising to call for a vaccination appt with the 'priority groups' clearly outlined....but not a single appt available. I think that is what people are running into and nothing will solve it except good mgmt and time. |

I will openly say it, I just wish I would get it, and get it over with - but I have people around me that the same may not be such a good idea. Here is a doosy for you... the immunity blood test with 15 minute results... why dont they do this test prior to giving the vaccine? There are going to be tons of people that had super mild if not A symptomatic with no symptoms that will have "Immunity". Keep in mind the 25 million number you quote is those that have been diagnosed with a test.. but we HEAR about those that have / had it and didnt know ( and didnt goto the doctor ). we are without question above and beyond 10% of the population... we just have no systems in pace to figure that out... and its as simple as... the 15 minute blood immunity test. I personally know a better than hands and feet full of people that lost taste and smell for many weeks and never went and got tested... they closed themselves up for 10 days and called everyone they were in contact with... Have you had a call from a "official" trace? its like a month after the fact. I had a friend just yesterday get told he was in with a doctor that tested positive 30 days ago.. as in he was in the doctors office 30 days ago. The bottom line is the "Shot" does not equate immunity.. its a straight up lie. it lessons symptoms, yes, but it does not replace the fact that you can still get it. Herd immunity is JUST THAT.. IMMUNITY and not some shot that masks the symptoms.

https://www.muhealth.org/our-stories...-herd-immunity https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...cines/faq.html ( under "About Vaccines" look at "What percentage of the population..." THIS is the overall path that is being taken... they really have no clue how long the protection lasts... have not seen study one on the subject actually. Haven't even seen a study of how many with the vaccine get Covid. That aspect ( actually testing positive ) is not within the testing parameters of any of the major vaccine companies... they are only tracking those "with symptoms" - and not actually confirming one way or another if they are positive - they are 90%+ effective at masking the symptoms, and my guess is little to none in the way of actually blocking the disease. BUT, and this is a huge BUT, It has been shown that there is no difference in transmission from those showing symptoms, and those that are A-symptomatic. The part I can not get my little head around is there are 2 to 4 drugs at this point ( 3 oral and 1 nose spray ) that if taken daily BLOCKS the virus. We could pretty much BLOCK the virus under control, and be done with it in 2 to 3 months time. "Follow the science" they say... At this point I say follow the money trail to find the truth... because science has nothing to do with any of this.
