Governments want to take over the Internet

Many people are not aware what going on so please read up on this because it may well have big implications on Internet Marketers.

Everyone should check these links below.

Here I have pasted a couple of important quotes from the article.

"Changes could lead to greater efforts to censor Web content and stifle innovation in cyberspace"

"places such as Iran and China to justify their crackdowns on bloggers and other Web restrictions."

"change the pay structure of the Web to force content providers - such as Google Inc., Facebook Inc. and others - to kick in an extra fee to reach users across borders."

"The outcome could affect billions of Internet users."

"We can expect an Internet totally different to today's open and global system,"

"Repressive governments will have a UN treaty which allows them to control freedom of expression"

How might this effect Internet bloggers and Marketers?

Imagine Taxation laws on your Website...
Imagine having to pay to be able to promote your site to anyone outside of the Country you live in...
Imagin the drop in Traffic due to Restrictions on who can see your content..
Imagine not being able to Write what ever you want in your Articles or promote certain products due to Copywrite laws.

Even without these changes. Google, Tiwtter, Youtube, Amazon and alot more will have t Radicaly change and this will most certainly effect us and any profits being made today. Nothing is certain on what is said in this Post but we can say one thing. This is definitely BAD.

I bet most of you had no idea about this right? and why because this is so important to the whole World. Well because The Government control everything else and want this to be discreet. You don't find this on MSN news or on the TV News. Odd right?...

It may not happen ljust like when SOPA failed. But it might happen. Maybe not in the next few years but who knows..

I can say one thing. Any Guru's n here making a killing, better be concerned.

i realy cant see it happening myself ,but if it did you realy think these retail companies/etc are going to agree to this i know they wont realy have the final descion but they will put up a dam big fight, considering the amount of revenue us marketers bring there online business, especialy the struggling high street ones. think how many business have turned to the internet and using marketers to start or save there business doing this would cut there life line

well thats just my 2 cents on it but i may be wrong

I don't think this will pass through. This is completely unethical and could violate our rights to use the internet and what we use it for.

What I think is going is that these torrent websites are so far-spread and it's true that the legal side of it can't do a thing about it. They tried to get people off of downloading by suing people and getting a lot of money paid back but that only can scare so many people. It's easy to use a proxy server and download series in a day then distribute them.

This battle if it ever comes to be will a very long and drawn out war that may eventually solve nothing and waste the tax-paying dollars.

You have pointed out the main problem

The Governments have wanted to control the Internet like.. forever. But they havn't done so because the amount of opposition there will be. Billions of internet users and the possibility of Riots are very likely when changing Free speach laws and what can and cannot be done on the internet.

If you piss off enough people in a big enough way, then Rebellions can occur. Who knows but the government are meeting in Dubai on December 3rd. The fact they are meeting to discuss shows they are serious and at least willing to discuss. uh oh

And the most important thing here is the fact Google are showing real concerns. They are scared. If the Big G are concerned so should we be...

I think the previous poster is right, but there will be a push, and may succeed in certain areas, such as tor and bitcoins, but we shall see.

I can for see the real killer of Micro niche sites... It wont be Google

It will be having to pay Tax on all your Micro Niche sites as well as extra fees to enable other countries to view your site...rendering it a waste of time

I guess for now... this is another reason that can be added to "Authority vs Micro niche" lol

Go for Authority sites for sure

Epidot I would think this should be the least of your concerns right now. According to the other thread you started only a couple of days ago, you haven't got the faintest idea what you're doing anyway, so how on earth you think you're in a position to warn other marketers about this 'stuff' is quite beyond me.

      Re: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...want-quit.html

You're not in a position to advise any Internet marketing 'guru' anything about their business when for a fact, by your own admission, you're a complete wet behind the ears newbie yourself at all of this.

My advice to you... you need to start concentrating on what really matters not posting up 'stuff' which patently you haven't got the faintest idea what you're talking about.

The government is like a 5-year old constantly poking you...

Just wondering how far they can push you, sometimes they get what they want... but one day, you're just bound to blow up.

The government needs to keep their greedy fingers out of the internet.

I just wonder how hard it would be to enforce.

    Especially on a global scale....

That's true, I mean they can hardly keep a handle on piracy, hence SOPA.

I'm still pretty young, so I'm not sure if something similar to this has ever come close to occurring.

But, the internet must be by far one of the largest oppositions the government would ever attempt on undertaking, in terms of trying to steal something from the people, and such financial power houses like Google, Amazon etc. that are powered by the internet, things would definitely get ugly.
