Publishers, what do you look for in an affiliate toolkit?

Going to manage a new affiliate program for our company (partnered with ShareaSale) and wanted to promote the program.

I realized that a lot of affiliates look to see if there is a good "affiliate toolkit" before they even consider joining.

My question is, what does this consist of?

If you want a lot of affiliates here's what you want:

    1. high commission payouts.
    2. Pre-made banners and ads for the lazy
    3. Pre-made email auto-responder pitches for the lazy
    4. Multiple landing pages if possible for them to test on.
    5. An ability to track sales with a tracking pixel.
    6. Stats of how well your product sells. If you can convince an affiliate that your landing page converts and you write them a mini guide on how they can promote your product they will jump all over it.

I'm sure theres a bunch of other smaller stuff, but as an affiliate the stuff above can give me a bigger picture of the possible potential your product offers.

Apart from a decent pay-rate and converting product, and tracking...

The most important thing is to have creatives & content, as I don't have time to create your marketing content for you from scratch.

But it needs to be usable material.

Content: Articles, product summaries, product images, screenshots, embeddable videos, etc - It needs to be material that I can use, and if I want customize, as I feel appropriate

Banners: Tired of banners that suck from merchants. I am getting paid to drive traffic to your site and earn commission from online. So do NOT give me banners that:

      - Are designed to Get type ins of your URL (so banners should not mention your domain)

      or

      - Are designed to get calls on your 1-800 number (so banners should not contain it)

      or

      - Are designed to spread your branding but are not designed to get clicks. The worst ones don't even look clickable.

Thanks for the informative responses, I think I have a better idea now.

My next question is, when looking at the affiliate sign-up page, what entices you to click "JOIN"

The percent of commission, and proper stats on cpc, conversion rate, etc...

Some good things for JV page include (but not limited too):

          - JV contests
          - High commissions
          - Plenty of affiliate resources
          - Proof of high converting sales page (or that you've hired a professional sales page)

Perhaps even offer free review copy of the product so affiliates can see what they are sending traffic too.

When you guys see, for example "$100 bonus for first sale" does it entice you to join the program enough, noticing everything else is good?

I'm thinking of starting with that bonus to offer new potential affiliates
