How do I make money writing articles?

Hey there everybody,

I was surfing around warrriorforum and I realised there isn't much information on how to make money writing articles. Could anyone give some thoughts or direct to any sites that offer money for writing articles?

    Here's a few ideas for you ...

    1. You can write a bunch of them and sell them with PLR rights
    2. You can submit your article to sites that pay for submissions
    3. You can market your services as a writer

    Good luck,

    Will

That's why I like you Will. Short and to the point.

I agree. Those are pretty much the best ways to monetize articles.

Another way is to get a guest blogging gig in exchange for being able to
have a link in your article signature to a page of your choice, usually either
to sell something or build a list.

Of course that requires you to have something to sell or a list to build. If
you're not interested in either of those things then this option is not for you.

You can write these articles for other people. There is a website that you can go to and people will maybe hire you to write for them. It is called Elance.com.

I would rather do this for myself because you need to think long term.

Well, while you're writing isn't perfect, you do seem like a decent Native English writer. While this forum isn't a bad place to write for, if you're looking to make a full time living while writing, you have two options:

A: Have enough money to sit back and write for yourself building up a blog network.

B: Avoid Freelancing sites/forums and only contact actual companies and corporations to obtain clients.

A lot of people will recommend going to some cheap peanut sites, but let me give you a little overview of what you get there.

ODesk - You'll be competing with foreigners willing to "has you contentz" for .50c per 100 words and some of them for even less. I would say the majority of people browsing here looking for employees aren't looking for quality. They're looking for their content to be spun or mass produced so they don't really give two rats about quality.

Fiverr - I have no idea why people are so obsessed with this hole in a wall of a website. It's $5... what can you honestly expect to get in terms of quality? Every single order you get for $5, they take $1 of it and this doesn't include PayPal fees.

Honestly, the cheaper your pricing range is, the more you have to write and the worse clients you'll find. Cheap clients are some of the worst people to work for. I've done restaurant and low minimum wage jobs before but I would gladly work for them again before I went back to cheap .50c - $1 clients.

They'll never be happy with your work, they'll have some of the most ridiculous requirements to uphold, they'll always want changes and modifications and not only that but they're generally rude. They don't have the money to hire anyone else so they're strict and hard to work for. Higher paying clients will usually pay you for services rendered and move onto someone else if you suck.

Honestly, if you're looking to build up an actual living doing this, don't rely on forums, freelancing sites or low paying clients or you'll find yourself constantly frustrated.

Are you familiar with the submission guideline to article directories? Especially ezinearticles.com, they are very strict on good quality articles, spelling and grammar free. Not easy to find this writer.

i would contact site owners on topics you are knowledgable on and offer to write for them, this way you generally get paid more than you would on one of the sites like vworker or odesk etc

Look for offline clients that need help with their website content. They are out there and many are willing to pay you what you are worth.

Running an ad in the Warrior for Hire section can be a good way to start. But you need to make sure your ad stands out from the rest. Then link to your ad in your signature.

Set up your own website and list your services.

If you don't have "something to sell" maybe this business isn't for you.

The problem is that your earnings are going to be closely tied to your skills, so really ask yourself if writing is the thing you're best at before making it the focal point of your business. If so, I wish you the best, it's pretty grueling.

  • There are always individuals wanting to post up blog content on a daily basis, writers are heavily needed, so don't worry.
What you can do is set up an account using Fiverr and marketing your writing abilities on their. It would be a very good start, if you're just getting started.

The headache included with writing on Fiverr is absolutely free as well. I never actually accepted any gigs through there but I believe they make somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 per article if they're writing 500 word articles. Fiverr automatically takes 1 then there's something else, I believe it's Paypal fees.

The price you set for yourself is the price that you're honestly going to be stuck with. The price you set is the type of people you're going to deal. Don't do what I did and start out in that crap-tier pricing range. Honestly, do yourself a favor and your sanity and get clients from here who are willing to pay more than $1 per 100 words on the VERY low minimum.

Elance has worked well for me.

Also the key is to write about what you KNOW and ENJOY, otherwise it's like working for peanuts when you are allergic to said food.

There are 2 ways you can get paid to write articles.

1.) Become a freelance article writer. You can head over to Odesk, Elance, Guru, Freelancer or any freelancing sites and offer your services and writing skills for others to pay for.

2.) Write for yourself, have a blog and some products. If you write for yourself and consistently blog while having either your products or affiliate products, you will eventually get paid. Once you start mastering the art of call to actions at the end of your posts, you will start seeing results from these efforts. This route is definitely more beneficial and easier in the long run.

It's all up to you though. It's either you become the boss or you work for one.
