What Are The Best Ways To Monetize Photography Niche?

Hi,

I'm thinking of going into photography niche.

By photography niche, I don't mean just selling photos, but targeting newbie or more experienced photographers.

But I'm not sure, what is the best* way to monetize photography niche?:
  • ClickBank (aka info products)
  • Amazon
  • AdSense
  • Other ways???

*By best, I mean the most profitable way.

Write short reports on "side" sub-niches; something like "How to get the most out of your filters", I guess that's a thing, I have no idea about this niche.

After you have your reports up, you will be able to derive some affordable traffic towards squeeze pages that offer those reports and collect leads. Your traffic bids will be lower, because you'll be targeting "side" sub-niche keywords, which cost less.

Complete about 3-5 lead-getting funnels, test and tweak, build a list and then monetize the list with everything you mentioned above.

From time to time promote one of your blog posts to your list, and lock your professional photos with a good-paying content locker program.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

If this is something you know stuff about...

Start a blog. From that blog get people to opt in to a list by offering them a free report, and from there offer other guides to help them progress their skills as a photographer (Maybe even offer some 1-on-1 coaching down the line?)

Well, that's what I'd do... Selling your own products can be a lot more profitable then becoming an affiliate to another (and a lot more secure if done right)

The best way to monetize any niche is by understanding your target market and selling the solutions they need. So take some time to understand who you are going to market to, and to understand what problems, wants, and needs that market has. Then pick the ones from that list that you want to sell to and build your model around that.

Photography is a niche I have considered, but I already have one hobby niche and don't have the time to develop a second. I do know it is a big niche. Narrow it down and focus on your target market.

My father-in-law has become quite the hobby photographer and because he knows I work online he and I have had a number of discussions about how he could monetize his hobby or how an internet marketer could tap into the photographer niche. (Not my niche but I'm always interested in the "what if" discussions.)

    Couple of ideas for you:
    • He has signed up for several weekend long photo classes at scenic locations. People travel from all over the country to attend these sessions and they're pretty spendy. I don't know if there's an affiliate program for some of those but writing about those kinds of classes and promoting them (if it's an option) could be beneficial.
    • There is a lot of physical equipment photographers need for their hobby. You could always promote those things - filters, camera bags, lenses, lighting and even backdrops depending on the type of photography someone does.
    • Online photo storage services might have an affiliate program and my father-in-law is always looking for the best places to store his photos, how to store his photos, how to edit his photos and how to print them. All of these lead to more products and services to promote.
    • You could do short reports or ebooks on things like how to take the best still life shots, how to take professional quality family and individual photos at home, how to track and organize your album for professional use, how to get yourself noticed as a photographer. Build a list!
I would think Adsense would not be the most profitable of all the options you have available to you. A list, some courses/ebooks, and physical products would seem a better way to go.

Somebody else said it. You MUST understand your target market. What do
they want? What are they looking for? Are they spenders or freebie seekers?

There is no best way to monetize any niche because each one responds
differently to different things. Nobody here, unless they are specifically in the
niche itself, can give you an answer to your question. All they can do is give
you educated guesses which may or may not be correct.

As somebody who enjoys photography as a hobby, these are the things I like.

      1. Cameras - The best out there so that my photos look as good as possible.

      2. How to books - So that I become a better photographer.

      3. Accessories - To help me take better photos, like special lighting, etc.

You can go into physical product sales, ebooks or both. But you may not be
targeting the same people with both. Some people who need the how to stuff
already have the equipment. Some people with the equipment don't have a
      clue how to use it.

And then of course there are those who have neither. For them, maybe a
one stop shop authority site might work where you affiliate market physical
goods as well as sell your own ebook OR one you like as an affiliate.

If you're looking for one "this is the best way to do it" answer, you're going to
      end up disappointed.

      There isn't one.

Yes, and I wish this was discussed more. It must be market first, that is the core of almost all solid businesses - both online and offline. Market first, product/service second.

I know one blogger that does reviews on different products used in photography. Puts links in the reviews to amazon.com and makes money that way.

Photography products are usually expensive so the payouts will be more.

Also consider a way to have photographers show off their skills and make it heavily dependent on Pinterest. Great way to get traffic.

    - make a portfolio website displaying your works, where you can sell your own photos
    - the "hire me" thing
    - there is a Clickbank product selling photography course. Just watch out it has an opt-in box.
    - making your own product....why not
    - photography coaching clinic (with membership website concept if necessary, and there's a freemium thing where anyone can sign up for free to access basic course...but they must upgrade their membership for more advanced coaching + free consultation with you as a bonus)

As others have said, you must know your market. "Photographers" is too broad.

Professional photographers who own a studio already understand that photo means light, and graph means to draw. They realize lighting is much more important in creating a look, than is the camera. They are always looking for better marketing techniques so their studio can make more money.

Amateur photographers who want to become pro (or who already are calling themselves pro) don't yet have a great command of lighting techniques, posing techniques, and general business techniques. These are what they are searching for. And they want to know how to market to make more money.

Amateur photographers for whom this is a serious hobby have no interest in going pro. They want equipment information and ways to become better at photography.

Moms (and dads) who want to take photos of their own children, want to know how to make better photos of their children.

Trust me, I understand this market, because I owned a studio for 38 years, and have been selling to this market for over 20 years.

You need to narrow down your target.
