Document Sharing Sites For Traffic ?

Here is my question:

How To Properly Use Document Sharing Sites For Traffic ?
Is there a specific recipe or is it more of a hit and miss kinda thing ?
I've uploaded a couple pdfs to 30 plus sites a couple of days ago and i have no signs of traffic at all. I've hear many success stories about people getting bombarded with traffic from one site alone ( scribd for instance ) and yet, i'm still waiting for it lol...
Any thoughts ?

Instead of sending one document to 30 sites, send 30 documents to one site first. When you have learned how to get traffic from that site apply that knowledge into the rest of doc sharing sites.

Docstoc and slideshare are indexed fast, you can use them often.

Scibd.com has sent me the most direct traffic out of all the ones I've tested so far.

Depends on the quality of your content, and its ability to convince people to click your link to learn more.

When you have the right formula in place, it can deliver big for you.

If you fail to get the right mix of content and curiosity, then it will surely fail for you.

What software are you guys using, there has to be a way to automate the submissions? This is something that I have always wanted to do, but somehow never found the time. SENuke submits only to a handful of sites

Thanks for the feedback guys/girls !

It's a 2 page document (pdf ) with some images on the front page along with title and my site ( url embedded to ).
The second page is the article itself with my website link/address on the bottom.

Even when i searched for the exact title it doesn't show up.
my dilema is: should i invest in high quantity with an ok quality ( a 2-3 pages pdf ) or high quality ( multiple pages ) and fewer documents ?

Did you promote and ping your article?

BTW, it doesn´t sound right, your method is faulty. Where is the incentive for the people to go to your site?

One should manage their Slideshare profile like how they manage their Facebook page, in order to get tangible outcome from these type of websites. Automatic submissions are not sufficient.

There are lots of variables to getting traffic from doc sites and others alike.

    1. The quality of your content counts...
    2. The topic you are discussing about matters.
    3. You need lots of articles to get the traffic consistent.

I won't rely or depend on any of this for anything thou.. If i were you i will be looking at using other mediums like SEO, PPC, forums, classifieds, press release and various others..

Guys, here is some food for thought...
I have no idea about whats going on, maybe some of you do...

While looking for all uploads "by the user" ( the guy who actually submitted it for me ) i just couldn't find it among his stuff.. Isn't it weird ?? As i mentioned above, the link is live though

No promotion at all Sandra, that's what im trying to figure... what should i do to make it popular...
As far as website visits go the incentive is there but im trying to work on the first part of the equation which is getting people to read it.

Promote it with a default run. Ping and submit to bookmarking sites. If you have authority sites, put a link on the bottom over the copyright. Do whatever you usually do to make google know it is there.

I did tests with both ebooks and articles. The ebooks bring people regularly. With articles, well.. I can´t talk about it. It is a case study I run for a client. The only thing I can tell you is that it has a lil dirty trick to work.

Not really. It is a quite clean in google´s eyes dirty trick. It is dirty in the sense of "why didn´t I think of that?" And I didn´t think of that, so I can´t share it. Sorry.

Gotta be patience. You need alot of content on document sharing sites, and 30 files is nowhere near enough to get alot of traffic from these sites. What sites you are using by the way?

I think doc sharing sites are an under utilized source of organic traffic and backlinks. I don't personally read docs on doc sharing sites, but I'm surprised by how many people do (when I check my doc stats). I use a tool called RankWhizz (it's available on the forum as a WSO) to automatically post my documents to multiple sites.
