I've searched for a niche and found two (non IM) I really like the look of but ....

would you please help me to work out how to monetize them?

I will tell you they are both in the beauty industry as that is what I am in primarily. One of these I know a lot about but nothing on clickbank to promote so I suppose my question here is should I try to make my own product/ebook/'how-to' guide then either promote that through articles and ppc (not much money in my pot left) or on my own website (local) that isn't very well ranked?

The other I really know zilch about but there are two products on clickbank, one with a gravity of 219.22 (-4.12) and the other with a gravity of 178.096 (+0.68). Both have a 75% commission and both say there is a rebill of just a little over $20. I don't think I would promote this through my site as I am primarily a nail technician and waxing (intimate specialist) and spray tanning tech, so would I be better off with promoting this through articles and ppc?

Thanks so much to anyone who has the time to answer, I know you are very busy people

    Hi Sarah,

Congrats for taking action and finding some niches!

As for the first one, I think you should definitely make your own product (as long as you've researched it and are sure there are buyers). You could put the product on clickbank and let the affiliates do the selling.

That being said, if you don't have a lot of money now for making the product then you might start with promoting the 2 existing clickbank products and build up traffic to your site through articles, social bookmarking and the usual methods. Don't forget to have a signup for your autoresponder because then you can sell them your product that you create later on!

This way you can be building up traffic/customers as well as some money to put towards the creation of your product and once you are done you will have a ready market to sell it to!

    Hi...

With the beauty products niche, I would definitely look at CPA offers. I have seen a number of them that will pay you if someone gives them an email or does afree trial offer.

    Hi Sarah, how are you?

Without a more detailed description of the resources (time/money etc) you have at your disposal.. I would be stuck as to how best to give you an answer.

Based on your OP, I will assume (bad idea?..lol) that you are looking at some low costs methods of promotion for your dchosen route. Whether that be your own product or one from clickbank.

Your main aim will be to get interested eyeballs to look at your offer.

The most low cost method to do this is content, well produced and optimised content in big numbers.

Personally, if I was you.. I would completely forget promoting this through your current site. My reason being this:

If your site is not highly targeted to this niche, you will find that it may become a distraction from the main aim of your site.

Secondly, if your site IS highly targeted to this niche, you won't be streamlined enough with your promotions. Anything you already have on your site WILL be a distraction for any eyeballs that you generate to your chosen offer.

Of course, if the site is targeted to this niche too, then it won't hurt to gently weave your product (or the CB product) into the mix, but I wouldn't insert it heavily. I would be much more likely to have a whole new site for this offer/product.

    Eyeballs -> Offer -> Sales

With as FEW distractions and traffic leak points as possible.

Generate targeted traffic with articles, content and social buzz... funnel this traffic into a buy now or go away situation.

I hope this help a little.

What you really need (in my opinion) is a chosen business model that will cater for your choice of niche(s), I can't detail that right here for fear of boring you, but there are many to choose from which will enable you to generate that traffic for you.

    Peace

I have 3 full days (during school hours) to devote, plus about 2 hrs most evenings, not a lot of moolah tho! could maybe scrape about 50 quid.

Thanks Jay. I have 3 Squidoo lenses at the moment (nothing to do with what I am proposing in my O/P which I could really do with promoting more too. I have my business site (I think the link is in my profile) but that was originally to just have as a 'window' and as a means for people to be able to contact me. I put that site up last year though and back then I didn't know much at all about IM.

I also have tried ppc but have just ended up out of pocket by about 60 quid with no conversions to show for it. I was promoting Maverick Money Makers I have set up a landing page with a Freewebs site and a 1and 1 domain that I bought, and that then leads to the MMM sales page, I did join MMM but I didn't have enough focus so I unjoined.

I also have a site that I'm getting really frustrated with called sarah-works-from-home.com but I can't even get that up and running. I bought my domain from Godaddy, forwarded it to 1and1 where I set up this site and have been trying to forward that from there to the horrible site name that 1and1 gave me but it's not happening!

And I have a site (well, two pages) promoting bowtrol (another MMM idea), I bought my domain from Godaddy and set up a Freewebs page or two but I'm having problems with this domain too.

I also had an SBI site to inform people on how to make jewellery, about jewellery history, etc, which is another passion of mine. Unfortunately I didn't have the money to renew it after the 1st year (my fault, I didn't monetize it quickly enough) so that is another thing on my agenda, but I don't have much time (or space nowin my house) to do that at the moment, so that's in the loft waiting......

So, a lot on but nothing happening! I think it's a case of 'newbie frenzy'!!!

Do you think I need to sit down and pick something I want to do and leave the rest on hold for the moment, then when that is starting to make some money, be it through article marketing, forum marketing or ppc, I can then move on to the next?

It certainly isn't as easy to make money on the internet as the sales pages would have you believe! I would consider myself to be internet savvy, but even with the some knowledge I have it's a steep learning curve.

Oh, I also joined (just for good measure ) Lee McIntyres Gold Club, but I think I may cancel that as well. Not because it's no good, his content and videos I think are fantastic, and I have bought an Ewen Chia pack (tons of video info to trawl through), but I think for me it's a case of information overload and I need to get back to basics.

I also want to get into selling on eBay to get a bit of money coming in quickly (not IM stuff though, although I do have a ton of reseller and PLR packages stored nicely away on my hard drive!), would you say this is a good thing to start with? I have (also) and interest in photography so thought I could utilise this too as something to get some money in a bit quicker.

      PHEW!!!

      "Hi Sarah

Since you are primarily doing nail and waxing as well as spray tanning tech then you can write about tips or what to look out for. Maybe you have a special skill for nailing or waxing that differs from others. Or you can write about what we can ask or take note when doing nails or waxing. You can elaborate them in articles and submit them to article directories, blogs, social bookmarking, etc. Beauty industry is getting popular in Singapore and has good potential. "

Edhan, thanks for this , this is actually my idea number one in my OP! I would include 'video how-to's' as well as pictorial diagrams, but there are quite a few of these videos on you tube, so I would need to make myself different if I want people to pay for my info.

Also I think to get testimonials from 'guru's' in my industry would be like trying to get blood from a stone. They are very open when it comes to helping people and sharing their knowledge on the forums I frequent, but they do like people who are interested in coming in the industry, to have recognised training which they can then get insurance for, they really frown upon the likes of you tube videos which show people how to do salon treatments themselves, so I think this may be a sticking point.

Sorry for the essay! I didn't mean for this post to be so long

ps. Would anyone know how I go about getting an opt-in page for my sites?

      Thanks a million

I wouldn't "put the rest on hold".. instead I would find my focus and action plan whilst incorporating my new strategy into what I am currently doing.

It certainly isn't as easy to make money on the internet as the sales pages would have you believe! I would consider myself to be internet savvy, but even with the some knowledge I have it's a steep learning curve.
It can be a very steep learning curve, but for those who are willing to look past all the hype and promises of lazy riches, there is a golden opportunity at your fingertips.. grab it

That interest in photography that you have could be a real gem if you need a starting niche... I will PM you links to a few resources in that niche.. some bloggers really have some smart stuff going on

I will also give you a hand with an opt-in form for your site if you like.. just let me know when you want to get stuck into it

If you've searched for days on clickbank and don't like the look of anything that would suit your particular audience, then yes, create your own product/e-book/how-to guide and promote it through whatever way possible. Even if your website isn't well ranked to begin with, after a while it will start getting traffic and you'll be well on your way

What you COULD do is create another website just for this affiliate offer (or even a seperate website section) and write the page based on the affiliate product. Then, create keyword-rich articles and PPC campaigns (but only if you're good at it), and link to that new website/section in the resource box and PPC url respectively.

Also, if you need ideas for a product... Based on your above post you say that you are "primarily a nail technician and waxing (intimate specialist) and spray tanning tech"? How about instructional how-to videos with real clients (obviously with their permission) and call it Sarah's Salon? Also, when they buy your package they get the tools needed to get started delivered right to their door? Just an idea :p

    Hope i've helped

You could also look into physical products to promote for the first niche. Don't confine yourself only to clickbank. One possibility is becoming an affiliate for some physical products and writing your own ebook on how to get the most from those products. You could offer your report or ebook free for signups to a list and build from there.
