My secret to stable monthly income...

It's been awhile since my last post, much less my last thread. To say I've missed the forum has been an understatement, but time is precious. Not trying to sound like a tool, just saying.

That said. The thread title promised some secrets. Well unfortunately its probably one that your not going to want to hear. How exactly did I finally reach the unicorn of our industry? That mythical creature of total awesomeness called "stable, monthly income?"

Hard Work.
Scratch that. Hard ******* work.

No, we aren't digging ditches here. But I'm talking about building relationships (outside of a list) and cultivating those by pushing services, adapting to changing techniques and in general providing grade A customer service.

Am I writer? Am I marketer? Am I a website builder? Can I do SEO? How about SEM? What about editing photos? I'm the total package. If I can't do it, I'll find a damn good hand who can. The best part? All of this is done online.

But my biggest secret? I stopped using the letter [I] in interactions with clients. Instead I used the word [we].

Almost within days the whole dynamic changed. I was no longer a single dude working on projects, but [we] were a team. And that team is often a group of outsourcer's, with me being the gravity point--you know that guy who pulls it all together and pleases the client.

I'm still just a one-man-band company, well an LLC to be exact. My last bit of advice? If you are affluent in any aspect of internet marketing and haven't talked to local businesses yet you are leaving a lot of money on the table. Hell, I'd argue you're leaving more than that.

Best wishes in your marketing and I hope I can give back to this amazing community that has pushed me well past that glass-ceiling I've talked about in my previous posts. Much love and care!

    Great post, BP.

That's the thing. People often get disappointed when they find out that there are no real secrets to success in IM. But they shouldn't be. Everyone has the capacity to work hard, and the harder you work, the more opportunities you bring your way.

      Great post.

Since joining this forum I have learned the value of building genuine relationships with people online to build trust, and as you said, this is not just through building a list. It is through everything that you do online.

Thats something i do as well, i find people are more likely to respond to a "we" than an "i"
