High-quality color book printing companies?

Warriors, I'm about to have a new book created. It will be over 250+ pages, full color. For now, instead of using a printing/fulfillment company like Disk.com, I'm thinking I may want to cut my costs and have it printed and ship it myself.

Do any of you know any high-quality full color book printers in the USA, that does bulk printing (like 250 copies +) for really great prices?

Recommendations?

I do NOT want to use any POD companies as the expense is way too high.

    I would imagine it would be best to work with a Printer in your local area. (depends on where you live). Will save you shipping costs.

      Have you checked create space? they have color printing on demand, and the prices if you buy the books are pretty good.

        I second on createspace... they are pretty good. And you get your book on amazon.

    If you are getting minimal copies printed, Create Space or Books Just Books are good options. You could also check out one of the larger companies that also works with small or self-publishers. The quantities you want may be a bit small for a larger company but it couldn’t hurt to check them out.

    I second the local printer option. Since you said you are in a small town, I would see get quotes from printers in your nearest big city. Make sure the city is close enough that you can do a press check before they deliver the goods to you.
