How to get the message out in a MASSIVE way?

Hi.

To make this succinct: I'm an author, Ph.D. student, and fitness trainer.

I have recently made some incredible discoveries about human movement and physiology, and I have been testing out my work with myself and clients of mine, and I believe I have stumbled upon a new type of exercise that is the holy grail of sorts.

I am currently finishing my book outlining my whole system, and I plan to make an ongoing video membership site with detailed training programs all demonstrated and explained in video.

I believe that these ideas WILL create a genuine revolution in the exercise community. Everyone who I have spoken to about this idea--notable fitness competitors, trainers, fitness models, and uber-rich businessmen--have all said that this is a truly brilliant and revolutionary idea.

My concern is that if I try to slowly let this information out, my ideas will be stolen and marketed bigger than I can do. I WANT TO BE THE PERSON WHO BRINGS THESE IDEAS TO THE WORLD, and so I need to do it on a BIG SCALE, and get these ideas out FAST and HARD in a massive way.

Any ideas you have for how I can do this would be much appreciated.

I have considered approaching big name marketers like Eben Pagan, Dan Kennedy, and Tim Ferriss to potentially launch it to their list.

Other than that, I would really appreciate advice about how to get these ideas out to millions of people in a very fast way. I'm looking for ways to create some sort of massive launch.

If you are worried just write a book, and get the copyright, might be better off as an author on Amazon. Most of these guys only promote IM products...

This may just be a slip of words but stating that you "believe" you have a new exercise that is the holy grail kind of pre-supposes that you don't have any concrete evidence to backup your claims.

I've worked with many clients who think they have the best this, that or whatever. Until you can prove it with concrete evidence... it may be hard to get people to take notice.

If it is as good as you say it is, find some way of firstly proving it with someone high-up in the exercise world to back you up and THEN think about how to get it out.

Again, if you can prove it... you shouldn't have any problem getting noticed.

Hi Thanks... yes, TYPE of exercise. As in new system of doing exercise. Yes, I have a great deal of hard evidence. From my own clients, as well as the fact that there are two world-class coaches (one an olympic lifting coach and the other an olympic sprint coach) who are already using my system with incredible results.

My question is... I can let all my proof out by drip feeding on a blog that gets 10 views per day, or I can try to release this information to millions of people--through infomercials, press releases, through massive online product launch etc.

I'm looking for help as to how to go about launching my system (with proof) in a way that I can "get noticed" by millions rather than hundreds.

If you have any advice in that department, I'm all ears.

What I'm trying to say is if your new "type" of exercise is as good as you say and you have tangible, realistic, scientific evidence that's been tested on a decent amount of people... not just because you "see" a difference... there shouldn't be a problem about getting noticed.

Just provide the evidence to the top bloggers, celebrities in the marketplace and there would be no reason why they wouldn't back it.

Do you have any scientific evidence that you can use?

I've not worked with anyone in the health/fitness industry but I'm guessing the industry as a whole is very cynical of new workouts and such.

The IM world is very similar. Everyone thinks they have this amazing system that will make you money in 5 minutes if you follow the proven system. Fact is, most of the time they can only prove it worked for them and 5 other friends or "strangers" and then they wonder why no-one will take notice of them or their product.

Traffic/Sales/Attention comes from creating something of high-value that can be trusted.

TELEVISION Yes, I have thought of that. The problem being that doing an infomercial is difficult when you don't have $500,000 or a million dollars to fund it.

Any suggestions on getting 1 million or so from investors would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks!

If you are a PhD student then your tutor should have advise for you. When I was studying for my PhD my tutor made sure my publications were done correctly so that people couldn't steel my research. Aren't there any typical journals you can publish your results in? If you publish your findings first you will be the person other researchers base their work on. Contact other universities and suggest doing a seminar. Get yourself known.

It isn't research related to my PhD. I'm doing my PhD in Clinical Psychology.

This is unrelated to that... and my concern is really more with launching it for millions to see rather than trying to copyright things, or claim an idea as my intellectual property (because it's always easy for someone to twist the ideas and market them as their own).

So I'm looking for advice--how to form alliances with big names to do a huge online product launch, find investors for infomercials, etc.

Any advice on how to go about those things would be very helpful.

    >>I have recently made some incredible discoveries about human movement and physiology,
That's a pretty strong statement. If it's something that ground-breaking and you have the scientific proof, something in a peer-reviewed journal would help solidify you as the the person who discovered it.

I understand what you are saying, and I get how that makes sense.

The reality is more that tons of research already exist on tangential subjects related to this idea. I have simply pieced all of this research together in a way that has created a new system of exercise. Observations I've made about the nature of human movement compared to most resistance exercises done in the gym, combined with my and my client's results after shifting to this exercise system, and the results of two particularly innovative olympic coaches using this system with their athletes... all of this has been combined with research to form my system, and there is more than ample proof of the superiority of these methods...from many of the best coaches and athletes in the world.

I may at some point decide to do a research study comparing my methods to typical exercise routines, but still I wouldn't just release that study to the public--so that someone ELSE can write a book and make a product about this superior form of exercise.

I'm ALREADY at the stage where I'm almost done writing the book, and can create the video product quite easily.

My concern is that when I have created all this, I want millions of people to see it launched, not hundreds.

That's what I'm looking for advice on.

Just a thought. What about seeing if you can get a sponsorship or JV deal with a large sports company or sports equipment manufacturer. Off the top of my head, say Nike or Adidas?

If you could get your product into stores,on and offline, who knows how many you could sell.

Well as a fellow personal trainer here is what I would suggest.

Since you say that you have been testing this out with yourself and your clients, have you been keeping before and after pics/videos of them?

I would get testimonials from them.

Then what I would also start doing at the same time is to put the word out in your city that you are looking for a business partner who has some high level connections.

This means you will have to start getting out there and networking whether that is on here or offline.

Your first step will be to sell this business partner on the potential of your new type of exercise. You can do this by taking them through the exercise routine and/or showing them your other clients results.

You are also going to want to get some Non-disclosure and Non-compete forms written up by a lawyer. This will protect you when you are out and about showing your "system" to others.

I would also create a list of potential people/companies that you are going to approach.

For example someone said TV. Well maybe step 5 out of your plan is to figure out what is the company that promotes all those products on the "As seen on TV' infomercials?"

Then as soon as you get the company name, you will want to find out who do you need to contact in that company.

I would think it is just a matter of sitting down and brainstorming ideas,

who is the company that does all the infomercial products?
call them and find out who do I need to talk to?
    Maybe google their site?
Who are fitness and health celebrities?
    Jillian Michaels? Dr. Oz?
How can I contact them? Do they have agents? Check their websites to find out this information.

    etc, etc, etc

I believe that these ideas WILL create a genuine revolution in the exercise community.
Again as a fellow personal trainer this is a huge claim.

The more your "system" is based upon the physiology of the body, the better your claim.

There are tons of systems out there that claimed what you are, but alot of them were just ideas on paper that sounded good, and the bad thing about them also is that they didn't work because they went against human physiology.

You are going to have to show how yours is not like those.

I have considered approaching big name marketers like Eben Pagan, Dan Kennedy, and Tim Ferriss to potentially launch it to their list.
I personally wouldn't contact them as they are more IM related Guru's and for Tim Ferris I don't know how that would work out, because you would have a competing product.

Also, if the principles behind your systems go against what the principles of his system are (think Arnold and Mike Mentzer) then the chances of him helping to promote yours would be even more slim.

Actually one thing you can do is to look at Tim Ferriss book and see who published it.

Contact that company and ask how to get your book published with them. Bypass Tim Ferris and target that company.

Does it make me fitter, more flexible, more beautiful, clear my vision, improve my hearing and get rid of all my pain, leaving me with no stiffness or other side effects? And if it led to a spiritual awakening that would be handy too. Oh and of course it would need to make my d*ck bigger

If it doesn't cover all those, it's not the holy grail, at least not for me... so I think your first step is to clarify why your exercise is so good, and then to create your brand so that you position yourself in the best way possible.

The best way to do this is to create a whole new product category. Check out the books "The Origin of Brands" and "Blue Ocean Strategy" for more on this.

By creating a new category, you'll always be the first to be associated with that, no matter who tries to copy you... and even if everyone does copy you it works to your advantage.

It sounds like you should be modelling what Tony Horton has done with P90X... he's managed to sell 3 million+ copies of a $100+ product so he's done what you're trying to do.

I guess if you could answer why it's the holy grail people here could give you ideas for positioning.

Or do you already have a name for it?

    Good luck!

As others have said, if it is really unique try to get a copyright/patent. Then do a press release via PRweb.com. This is something one person can do without needing a lot of money.

Have you thought about approaching a live TV talk show about being a guest and launching it that way? Obviously you would need other methods to go live at the same time but that could reach millions if it is done right.

The television infomercial companies are always looking for the next, massively salable products, and they foot the bill to create the infomercials and time-buys.

For example: Silly man Richard Simmons was marketed by American Telecast Productions. One of the company owners, Steven Scott, was the one who chose to market Simmons.

Their website idea submission page is here: Product Submission | American Telecast

Sulivan Productions are on the lookout for potential products. The company is owned by Dan Sullivan. His business partner was Billy Mays.

The website and contact info is here: HOME

Guthy Renker are well known for their infomercial products. They even sold Jeff Paul's "How To Make $4,000 a Day Sitting At Your Kitchen Table In Your Underwear" course until Paul got into an argument with them over design of the packaging.

Their website is here: Product Development and Marketing Success - The Guthy|Renker Story

Here's another: Canella Responsive Television. Their website is here: DRTV - Direct Response TV Media Buying - Cannella Response Television

Subscribe to Direct Marketing News. It's free, and you will find other infomercial advertisers in it. There is an opt-in box that appears a few moments after you first go to their website: Direct Marketing News

You need a proper marketing campaign!

I would get lots of affiliates lined up for the launch. I would work with other gyms and professionals in the field and allow them to mention their services in your members area / download page / Sales pitch / etc.

You should build a Google+ page, FB biz page, associated niche FB / Twitter / LinkedIn pages as well as a website. You should also build a mobile site and a mobile App.

If you have time, you should even use your existing content to write a book for Kindle and Create Space, etc.

You can time everything to go live at once or do a staged release. You will need Press Releases, FB ads, ppc and mobile ads run.

If you do all this, you will have a HUGE impact and you will not have to have a massive investment to get it all done either!!

Go into Uni's, schools, etc and talk about health will get you a big buzz and if you have the social media / online platforms setup ahead of time, you will be able to make the most of this buzz.

I would time the whole thing around an event or competition to really ignite your marketing.

This would allow you to get local businesses to sponsor you and donate prizes etc, in exchange for some nice promo.

Ideas are endless as this is something I do for local businesses, so if you need any more suggestions / help, let me know!

    Good luck,

    Azu.
