Guys can you critique my first site?

I can't post links yet but I hope I will be forgiven it is "pushthescale dot com"
This is just a template, Going to use for affiliate marketing.

I am thinking of adding a region somewhere which will take the user to the best articles on the site.

Each subsection will have a picture and a description of the latest articles and a list of all the articles. The home page will have the latest article and the links to the latest articles. I am still unsure with this structure.

Any critisism and advice will be welcome.

I am also not sure how to optimise the page for search engines. All I have right now is the page title the header, and the second header which will be used for the articles.

Meta tags, headers and footers, keywords. what should I write for them, what willl they do. Anything else I should insert? finally which bit of the page will be displayed under the page title in the search engine results?

Looking forward to your replies guys

You should hide/cloak your affiliate links so that people don't get suspicious and/or remove you affiliate id.

The color is a little too bright for me. Agreed with James, you should use clickbank cloaking to hide the affiliate links. Other than that, I believe there is potential in this site.

        Here's a suggestion

        1) start again. use a web 2.0 kinda theme... which type of themes? take a look at Brad Callens landing pages for his latest projects, and go in that direction.

        2) remove that ugly orange background.
        3) remove the header and try something more simple
        4) remove that horrible fire text, looks too amateurish.

if you can present your site in a better way, you'll come across more as a expert in the reviews you're doing.

        5) as someone else said, cloak your affiliate links. Here's one of my affiliate cloakers you can use free.

        6) put the css in it's own file to speed up loading speeds.

        7) put the proper robots meta tag, keyword tags, decription tags, abstact tags and unique title tags as well with each page.

        8) use the title attribute in your links and add keyword phrases in them

go ahead and make those changes then pop back after you've added more valuable content for more advice

I'll politely disagree with edhan on the color being too bright. You always want to design for your audience and I'd think bold color would speak to the bodybuilding market well. I've heard that orange tends to make people hungry, too, which can't hurt. Of course, It's best to research and test such things. Do a search of your primary keywords and see what the top ranker's sites look like.

As for a HTML questions, I'd suggest starting at Wikipedia, then read up on them at W3Schools. As a beginner, you'll constantly run into holes in your knowledge, but this stuff is all over the web.

Did you do ANY keyword research BEFORE registering the domain name? You need a keyword rich domain name to jump start your results, believe me. Oh, and everything Loz said too.

    My opinions:

    1. you need to cloak the affiliate link.
    2. You need to build a new website, with a better color, like white or black.
    3. You need a web designer to have a great design

    Hope this help..

Could you or someone else please elaborate on this.

SO I hsould make my website more proffesional lookin. my main concern IS the colour scheme, I don't want it to be to bland, maybe just black and grey... If someone has advice on the colour I'll gladly take it

I will start cloaking my id, but what do people think of the whole box, on the right with the ebooks, should I make it briefer?

      looking forward to more comments

Hi I like the new layout from the first one, BUT, I think you have some sort of thing with fire, lol, I would suggest you get rid of any fiery effects,

Who is your target women or men? It looks like men to me.

Try to spell the words correctly.

      What are you selling?

I only looked at your new layout so that's my opinion.

Okay, I looked at your old layout:

        Spelling still sucks

Are you only offering other people's stuff?

Why should they buy from you?

        Are you offering anything?

I quite like the second layout if you were to go with a nice professionally designed header. The font being used currently doesn't sit well with the the current design IMO.

When compared with (what I believe to be) one of the big players in that Niche you seem to have followed a similar colour scheme so unlike some others I would have to say if it works, go with it.

HAHA that's not a competitor, that's like a GOD to me.

ANyway I found a keyword which I will be ranking up for. And the webiste is primarily directed at men, although I may write a few raticles for women.... Maybe make the section in pink for them, I don't know
