A couple of posts about autoblogging have caught my interest. Can´t find a single mention about tools used though.

I am assuming there are scripts / software out there, presumably for sale.

Advice and suggestions welcome, specially on software / scripts, used and tried.

I've read a few threads here using WP for autoblogging. The plugin to use is WP-O-Matic which posts RSS feeds that you need to configure. Others used paid plugins that mostly are available in the WSO section.

Here are some good threads related to autoblogging:

Some of the plugins mentioned above basically scrape content without the permission of the Feed Owner/Content Creator.

Instant Affiliate Feeds gives you permission to use the content from the feeds it provides. The posts are professionally written and already include your ClickBank and Paydotcom affiliate links in them.

There is a plugin called PLRtoWordpress, I believe their is a wso running currently where you can get it 50% off. This plugin allows you to upload a folder of articles and it will automatically post them and you can set up how often you want them scheduled.

Autoblogging is my primary business. This is not a promotion: the links in my sig go to threads I've started here on the WarriorForum where myself and other warriors go into a vast amount of detailed tool discussion. Way way more than a "single mention" - if you're serious about autoblogging, that would be a great start.

In the TOS, or ask the site owner if you want to be sure. I would say that if you are smart about how you use the content you get from feeds, you can make sure that you actually fall well inside the protections of "fair use" when it comes to copyright. This becomes a grey area when you use that content for a commercial intent, which IM technically IS. However, since print publications can implement fair use while publishing ads and selling subscriptions, I think I can too.

Note: I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice.

The problem I have with sharing my own autoblogs is that since I've shared my methods, any actual money-making blog I show anyone is susceptible to reverse engineering. Since the whole point of autoblogging is to go after the easy pickings, I don't find it wise to invite competition. In addition, I've also shared that I sell links to people for SEO benefit. I don't really care to have people be able to report my sites to Google for such, thanks.

More power to anyone who CAN share what they're doing with this - for me, I can only share methods and tools, not actual output.

I can't speak for the OP, but the big misconception I see here over and over is that "autoblogging = spammy adsense blogs" which is actually just one possible outcome. There's nothing inherent in the idea of automation that is bad at all.

Any way that anyone currently profits from blogging can be replicated with autoblogging. I build lists, promote and review products, post articles, and link to other related and useful sites that I know my visitors will like.

Consider that if you write a year's worth of blog posts and schedule their publication in advance, that's autoblogging too. No one ever thinks of that as "black hat" or bad, but it's the same principle.

Just take the methods of automation and instead of just scraping and reposting any old thing you can, use a discerning eye, tweak your content "recipe" and spend a LITTLE extra time at the beginning and keep an eye on it, and you can easily create a blog that's 95-98% automated (requiring a visit once a month or so mostly just to see it's still running) - and I would say that no typical web visitor would EVER be able to tell that it's running on autopilot.

Anyway, this post has gotten long enough, and I really only wanted to help the OP and answer his question, but hey, it's a topic I know a lot about, so I figured I'd contribute as much as I can.

      Hope that helps!

Edit Again: Dang - didn't realize this thread was so old when I responded, but oh well.

Thanks Keith for contributing all that you have on the WF about autoblogging. It is quite an education for the rest of us!

My only concern in having set up some autoblogs is how much and how often to drip feed content into the blogs. And my method is somewhat different than your tested approach.

One of them updates a couple of times per day and even with a bunch of backlinks, Google has indexed it but it doesn't even show up in the top 1000 positions after 12 months. Yahoo and Bing rates it near the top of page one for its keywords.

That site has about 1400 uniques a month (no, not a lot) but generates revenue in the low $xxx range.

It pulls content from Yahoo Answers, article sites, and has updated listings from eBay and Amazon. Most of the income is from eBay.

Maybe I am 'dripping' automated content too quickly into the blog? Or are other issues at play here?

I do 2 to 3 posts a week, generally speaking. I do have one blog that posts twice a day, but that's the most frequent one I have.

Without knowing all the details, I can't say why you're having that problem, but it's possible that you're doing something that's against Google's webmaster guidelines somehow. Look around for advice on getting out of the "Google Sandbox" and I bet if you do some of those things you'll start to climb the Google ranks very quickly.

That's awesome! Congrats. Now build another one while waiting for this one to climb out of the sandbox. You're going to do very well when you get it ranking similarly in Google in the same positions you're seeing in Yahoo and Bing. We're talking up to 8x the traffic (but at least 4x).

There are so many possibilities, but it's not going to be the number of times you post, or how fast you post it. Like I said earlier, I think you can do something about this by taking any known un-sandboxing measures. That will tend to make Google start to forgive whatever wrong they think you're doing now.

          Hope that helps!

    Hi Keith Kogane,

Why don't you run a WSO or e-course teaching this kind of stuff?? I love to read your post but a more clear step by step guide is better for learning...

You are the expert of this field, I would like to ask you few questions:

    1. How do you automate your link building effort? I use ASP but my accounts get banned very fast, any resources of bookmarking sites that let you promote your own site extensively?

    2. Do you need to ping or resubmit RSS frequently or 1 time?

    3. Do you have any other automated backlinks strategy?

    4. Did you ever reach PR 5 with auto blog? Any idea how to do it?

Hope this is not too much questions to ask, million thanks for your time and answer!

Because I'm lazy, and that would be work. Eventually, I'll get around to it. My goal for now is to just actually use my methods and build a total of 250 by the end of the year. But thanks for the compliment. If you have any trouble with anything I've posted, I'm happy to help you out.

Aw shucks. The only expertise I have comes from just experimenting and building these things and seeing what happens. There's no difference between me or anyone else. But sure, I'm happy to answer questions.

The first link in my sig goes into a good bit of detail on how I automate my backlinking. In addition, I use an original system I developed myself to automatically post content to a variety of social sites using a few free web tools designed to make managing various social sites easier.

It's very time consuming to create all the accounts and attach them to the system. However, once you do, it's a truly monstrous backlinking machine.

That system uses Ping.fm and PixelPipe which are fed via the Subscribe2 plugin. The same system I use to generate and push out my content will simultaneously trigger my social system as the blog post is published. It's well worth the time to do this setup if you're trying to create content and get it ranked. I know this seems kind of vague, but if you lookup the sites and plugin I mentioned, it'll make a lot more sense. I promise.

Originally Posted by kkchoon View Post

You are pinged when your blog publishes. That happens automatically. As for submitting the RSS feeds, I read somewhere that you're supposed to resubmit them every few months, but I'm pretty bad about that. I usually end up just adding the site's feed to new aggregators instead of doubling back. That's not done on purpose, I just haven't ever gotten around to it.

Originally Posted by kkchoon View Post

Not other than what I described above.

Originally Posted by kkchoon View Post

Yeah, I have a couple of PR 5s and one PR 6 right now, and that's out of almost 100 total sites. It's tough to get if you only follow my automated system because of the way it works. It relies on lower-quality republications sites to pick up the feeds and republish them. Not many of those sites have high PR. However, all the sites that have good PR in my network have had some manual link building done. Basically take all the keywords you want to rank for, and go to the top 100 results for each keyword. If you can get a backlink from there, do it. Then, take those sites and do a link: search on google and yahoo. Go to all of those sites and get a backlink if you can.

You can stop getting backlinks once you achieve the ranking you want.

The reality is, I don't do this. It's what I set out to do, but I never finish - I usually am ranking really well after only getting a dozen or so links from the first page of results on the first step.

The sites you find in this way are likely to have high PR and authority in your target niche. You'll be surprised at how fast you climb the rankings when you try this. Yes it's work, no it can't be automated. But is it hard? No. Just time consuming, but worthwhile.

I think I have the correct way down of creating an autoblog, not posting lots of posts at once e.g only posting 3 to 5 posts a week, using platinum seo plugin and the max ping plugin

Now I need help in getting backlinks

or should I keep my blog(s) running for a few months more using the ping and platinum seo plugins and then go for backlinks?

it all gets confusing at this stage

    any advice much appreciated

Submit your RSS feed around the feed aggregation sites and you'll start getting backlinks automatically. Do a Google blog search for your keywords - post comments and get backlinks from all results. Do the same thing for news sites. That's the fastest and easiest way to get backlinks AND make sure they are crawled fast.

Anyway, that's what I do, and it works pretty good.

      Spiders,

Consider taking a look at Traffic Bug. I am not currently an affiliate, but am likely to become one at some point. Am very impressed with their service. Have been beta testing it for a month so far and results have been good.

If you join the free ThirtyDayChallenge they have 40-day free offer use of Traffic Bug as part of their training. This should give you a good idea to determine if it's the right thing for you.

      Hope this helps!

I'm using a plugin that pulls unique articles with permission from the authors. It actually gives you unique content article based on the categories you setup in your wordpress blog. Here is the direct download ArticleMarketingGuru.com

It also pulls video and audio content if you so desire. You can read more about it on my homepage. No email required as affiliate links are rebranded into the instructions. The plugin is free, the instructions promote Unique Article Wizard which is a article submission service that rewrites your articles and then drip feeds them to article directories.

I've been using free plugins from lunaticestudios.com as well for yahoo answers and for pulling articles from articlesbase.com. It allows you to put in keywords to laser target the content it pulls and will include the authors info so it's all legit.

I modified all the plugins slightly to wrap the articles content around an html table that I can stuff adsense, clickbank, or whatever I want into them.

I like to combine lunaticstudios and the unique article plugin. I found that people are finding my sites from the variety of posts these plugins create.

I wouldn't say that my traffic has exploded, but it has increased substantially over the last few months.
