Could another blog about making money online be sucessful?

I want to make a blog about making money online (well its one of the two topics I'm debating), however I am not exactly an "expert", and when I go look at the big names out their, like johnchow, problogger, income diary ect., I feel like I can never write articles as well as they can, and if I can't do that then why would someone come to my site over theirs?

However, knowing this, do you think it is still a good idea to create a site about that, write articles, and market it and stuff like that? Do you guys think it could still work out, or do you think that it'll probably crash-and-burn?

Looking forward to your advice.

*By the way guys, the other option I was talking about, was the option of building a site about aquarium care, however since I don't have access to adsense, I wasn't sure what would be an effective way to monetize it because unlike IM their are hardly any solo ads in the fish industry unless your site is very big.

Of course there is room for another IM blog. However you should try approaching it with a more positive attitude and I bet you will do a lot better. Do not set any self limiting beliefs.

They won't know how good your content's going to turn out to be, when they first visit. If your traffic-generating plan is good enough, you might get them to visit. The problem is that you won't get them to revisit, that way. And without that, you don't have a business, of course.

If you look at it statistically, it's pretty likely to crash and burn. I think this is more or less factual, rather than just "opinion", isn't it? Trying to build a business in the "MMO niche", without the expertise, seems to be the commonest single mistake that beginning internet marketers make, and the most common reason underlying their failure in the industry? And even if it isn't quite "factual", it's certainly my view, anyway.

So assuming I were to go out and create the website, how would you recommend that I get people to keep on visiting my website?

Well I'm not exactly a beginner, I mean I've run sites before, but I see what you mean, so do you think it's likely to crash and burn.

Yes exactly you can't succeed with limiting beliefs in any niche :p
If you enter this niche I recommend your blog be about your journey in this niche. Creates a good story and every small success could be a chance to recommend something and make some money as well. Good Luck!

Call me crazy but I kind of view the IM market like the food industry...

Sure, there are plenty of big name restaurants out there like Olive Garden, Outback, or even McD's and BK. But just because there is a Burger King on the block doesn't mean a mom-n-pop burger joint can't do well... I see this all the time- a Pizza Hut on the corner and 100 yards down the road a pizza joint doing a booming business.

My take on it is this- serving quality food (information/training for an IM blog) is the key along with a unique selling position.

bottom line, yes there is room and in a big way.

I wasn't trying to set self limiting beliefs, just trying to look at it realistically. If you have website a and website b, and website a has better content, why would people want to go to website b unless website b does something "revolutionary" (which i haven't come up with what that is yet).

The only advantage I see is the larger sites these days are becoming less and less the authors work and more and more just the work of guest bloggers... therefore a newer site, could of a fresher pespective without just doing it for the sake of getting traffic as in a guest blog article.

If you can plan it well and do things a little different then there is no reason it cant succeed and you don't need to be the expert just know where to find the experts and how to get them to help you create content.

The other thing to do is simply see what people are asking about in forums like this to do with making money online, find out what the majority of answers are and write along them lines, it will at least get you content to start with then may make it easier to get others to help out.

If you're not an expert that doesn't mean you can't be a "Publisher". You publish other peoples content (of course with their permission) and recruit guest bloggers to add content. In return they get links back to their sites.

What i like to do with blogging is try to stand out from the crowd. Do crazy video and pictures . I also like to make sure to have a catchy name, that is easy to remember and put yourself as the authority.

    Is it possible? Yes!

Personally, I hate people that write about how to make money, and don't even know how to make money!

Find a niche and develope a successful method AND THEN create an IM website after you are rich.

I'm glad you have chosen this path..try to get successful with a niche you know something about, not necessarily an expert, but the fact that you are confident enough to share your knowledge about this (provided that you are also innately interested in this niche) before jumping into MMO when you haven't really tried making money online yourself... Congratulations and I wish you all the best

I think you have chosen a smart choice , and hope you succeed . I would check out clickbank there is lots of good products to promote and you can make a lot per sale.

I would create some blogs in other niches like your aquarium one. Learn how to rank them, make money with them etc. This will give you a better understanding about making money online. Then when you feel like you have something to teach others, start up an IM one and spread the knowledge. I saw a post on another forum by someone who had a domain called something like - make-money-online.com. He was asking an IM forum how to make money with it, which is kind of ironic given its URL. Needless to say, he was shot down in flames..

I think if I knew anything about aquarium care I would be creating a niche site around it .. there are lots of products on clickbank to promote plus great possibilities of creating your own product ..... and then when it is successful create a blog on how you did it ...

If you are not an expert, I don't suggest pretending to be one. Instead, blog about your own personal experiences. Post your income stats, what products you have bought and the results you are having with them. Turn it into a journey that you are allowing others to be a fly on the wall for. And don't forget affiliate links every time you mention a product.

Internet marketing is a tough niche to monetize FAST - especially if you're not familiar with the niche. There's money to be made... there will continue to be money to be made... but i would personally go into the aquarium care niche. I'm familiar with this niche. Besides... my sister has a fish tank and i killed all the fish accidentally one time. So... i know a thing or two lol.

Sure it could be. Write some cool content, add an opt-in form, collect leads, build a relationship with your audience and promote products. The only thing missing is traffic.. but I'll leave it at that for now. I'm sure if you use the search function you'll find more answers than you need to get started.

It is certainly not it is a lot easier than MMO niche actually. The niche harder to montize FAST is the MMO niche. There's a difference between the two Randall.

There is always room for another Make Money blog. As long as you have a solid "marketing" plan in place you will be just fine. I hope you don't really think those guys write all of that stuff. They are just really good sites with great marketing. People search them by name.
Why wouldn't they search for you by name? Just wondering.....

If you want to start a successful blog in any niche you need to be able to tell yourself why people would want to come to you. If you don't know. How will they ever know?

Of course it is possible to make money by creating a competitive blog about "making money online!" However, get ready for the touch challenge!

    1. You should have a professional design that would give you visitors a lasting impression of professionalism.
    2. You must plan it first. Make an editorial calendar before starting your blog. Plan about your topics ahead of time.
    3. Produce fresh, informative and helpful contents, and make it often. Good if you can make it daily.
    4. You should look for connections; try to communicate with other bloggers.
    5. Make "money" as your last target.
    6. A lot more to explore - get ready for the battle.

Or - if you have other interest, better to consider them as well.

    Regards,
    Prime

Making money online is a really profitable niche. You shouldn't try to write like them or whatever. Write like yourself. Be yourself. It's what makes one blog different from another. With that said, making money online shouldn't be the first blog you create. You should create and have success with one in a niche outside of IM, so you know a legitimate product from a scammy one and all that jazz.

  • As a matter of fact, starting a new IM site is hard. You mentioned that there are quite a lot of famous and IM sites and it will be difficult to build a good IM site if you are not sure if you can provide your viewers good articles.
It is not an issue of being an expert or not, every expert became beginners first before they become what they are now. The success of your site still depends on you. You need to invest effort and perseverance when you plan to push with that idea.

It´s better to stick with niches that you actually know a lot about. This way you will write quality posts that people actually can learn from. You get quality feedback and trust. This is a great way to get traffic which you then can start monetize.

Forget about what other people in IM are doing. What unique perspective can you bring to the table? You're right to wonder if you'll stand out in the crowd, but you're the only one who can answer that.

Are you currently making money online?

If not, then you don't have enough real life experience to share with anyone.

If so, then focus in on your own situation. Looks like you're a family guy so you could share with other dads how to juggle family responsibilities while building an income online.

You've gotta have a unique angle that separates you from the gazillion other people doing the same thing.

    Hey OP!

the "Make Money Online" niche is so all-encompassing, you're not likely to differentiate yourselves from the other, major names out there. I would compare this to wanting to setup a WalMart-ish type store right next to WalMart. Good luck with that! Ugh...

You're FAR more likely to have success targeting a much more specific niche. What have you done successfully online to make money? Here are a few examples of highly-targeted niches that may or may not work, but that I'd be interested in:

    - Freelance Copywriting - How to find clients, get your foot in the door, retain contracts, create more value for your clients, etc.
    - Productizing service offers - How to create a process with offshore VA's and sell their delivered items as a product instead of a rent-a-body service
    - Singapore Startup scene - Where to get gov't money, how to setup your corporation, etc.

Target a very specific audience and serve them extremely well. If in a few months/years you find you've outgrown that very specific niche and your audience has gone beyond that...it's what we'd call one of those "good problems to have".
