Best Call To Action For Affiliate Sites

Hello,

For an affiliate site, what would be the best very call to action. Off course i am going to test it, but i need some guidelines first. If you know a good WSO regarding this matter let me know.

So far i am using "see more details", and I am getting a quite good CTR. It is a physical product from a big shopping site similar to amazon.

I have found that big shopping affiliate sites do not use "buy now" but "visit store" "go to store" or something like this.

For example yahoo uses such a call to action: Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Pro Grade Tire - Prices @ Yahoo! Shopping

Usually, sites (as a whole) don't use a call to action. It's something used with sales pages or lightly (not aggressively) with other content such as presell copy.

So that implies that you use a call to action with specific content and not "for a site."

Also, you can use a call to action with regular content, but best to do sparingly. After a blog post, you can encourage readers to read something else (follow a link), or make comments. One way to encourage reader involvement is to ask very specific questions that are related to the post.

Go with what's working. But always test to improve your CTR, or conversions.

    Ex:

    Get more info
    Get more details
    Want to learn more?
    Discover features...

Things like the above can be tested against, "see more details."

This is also something to test.

I think many people have become less responsive to: BUY NOW .. lol. Copy like, visit store, just seems flat and uninspiring.

Make a list of alternatives and test them.

Ken basically said it all. You won't find "the best" call to action other than through testing. And just because a call to action works for one site, it might not do so well for others. Depends on the type of visitors of your site, the niche you are in etc.

Testing calls to action should really be a lot easier and straight forward than testing the copy of a whole salesletter...so why don't just get down to it and do it? Brainstorm a few things, put yourself in the shoes of your customer, read your own presell and then ask yourself "what would that link/button have to say in order for me to be really curious to click through?"

This, after all, is what your presell is supposed to do: Sell the click-through to the product, not the product itself (at least this is true if your target product sits on some form of salesletter - for physical products where your presell just points to an ecommerce store, you obviously have to sell the product as well and not just the click!)

Thanks. I know that isn't a call to a standard call to action, that is why ask.

I will create buttons and test it. I will probably test "buy from Amazon" or "Click here to buy it at Amazon", "Find this product at Amazon.com" as well.

What would be good headlines similar to "visit store" or "go to store". This seems to be the most appopriate.

Those two examples are not meant to be headlines.

        They are calls to action.

        Can you please clarify?

Yes, calls to action, my mistake.

I agree with the above views. Your job as an affiliate is to pre-sell or warm sell. You just need to warm them up to the idea of buying, which doesn't require a strong call to action.

Click here for more details about xyz... or something of that nature is fine.

Of course, that's after you've given a thorough review about the product.

You need to combine a number of synergies off-site. For example, get customer reviews on YouTube, expose them on social networks. Then place them in your squeeze page! Works like a charm.

[Call to Action] to... [Get Whatever Benefit] works well for me

ie: Click here to start losing weight now

Well some products do not have a narrow benefit. Lets say we are talking about tires. "Click here to get awesome tires" seems ok, but that isn't a benefit.

Good point. But that's where creativity must come in.

Great tires offer other benefits. Better mileage, better traction, etc.

ie: "Start Getting Better Gas Mileage Now!"

Of course, you can also select a specific part of the offer.

ie: "Click Here to *Save 50%* on Goodyear's X50 Tires Now"

Naturally, you'll want to test to see what works best; but you already know that

Yes, but there the sort of products I am selling has loads of small benefits, dozens of them. I preffer something like examples from your previous post, the (main and) general benefit of a product.

          Example:
          Teeth Whitener
General: Click Here To Whiten Your Teeth
Specific(better): Click here to whiten your teeth in 15 days or less with no negative consequences to for your health.

    The results of a test:
"See More Details" - CTR: 80%
"Go To Store" - CTR: 35%
"Click To Buy Product At Amazon" - CTR: 20%

I have found it pretty interesting - Buy and Go to store probably cause a lot of friction. Also the first one seems to convert better. Because an affiliate site isn't setup as a store, so it could overcome visitors friction. But store, if it has a good conversion rate easily could, as it is obviosly setup better than my site. For example Amazon has loads of reviews, it is well known and trusted site, which helps conversion a lot.
