Spam signups in Aweber?

Hi guys

After changing my Aweber account settings to Single Opt-In Ive had a massive influx of subscribers..

I shouldn't really complain, but I just want to ensure that these signups are not spam accounts taking up subscriber slots. The increased volume triggered the alarm bells, they seem to be mainly gmail accounts.

Any thoughts on this Warriors?

I also make a campaign with single optin and got nearly 250 subscribers.
    20% emails are now undeliverable!

Seriously what's the point in having this kind of space in your sig file?

Sorry to divert from the toptic descussed here bu you might as well pay for an image to go up instead. Just looks like your forcing the ad way too much here.

Have you added an Captcha or something like that on the Sign up page? Well, I don't think so.

Go and add a Captcha box to the form and remove spam from your subscribers list.

Thanks for the headsup, if it's doable in Aweber - I may just give it a shot.

In the meantime, Im gonna revert back to double opt-in, these signups are going crazy. I don't trust it lol

      Thanks everyone

I think you are right to be wary of a sudden surge in opt-ins.

  • I have one list of 1200+ that were all subscribed under single opt-in. It's the worst list imaginable! The bounce rate is higher than the click rate!

    Definitely double opt-ins for me.

no doubt double opt in list is more credible compared to single opt in.. but then again.. it depends what is your goal and motivation... I use single opt in, definitely have some spams but how much then is considered a danger?? My bounce is less that 1%, Is it ok?
