I think so. Unless Google will restrict and become moderate on the use of their business pages to prevent the effect of undying use of social media platforms on business promotions and marketing.

Facebook isn't dead, you just don't utilize it correctly. The problem isn't that things are "dead" just people have no clue how to use them, a lot like press releases.

      So true!

Anytime someone comes along with a "X is Dead" post which this is a variation of, it has more to do with either they themselves aren't able to or don't know how to use that marketing avenue, or they are seeing others who don't know how to use that marketing avenue and are making assumptions based upon that.

That being said, to the OP, yes it is smart to use more than just one social media avenue.

You don't want your business to rely just on Facebook alone, just like you don't want your business to rely just on Google traffic alone.

I believe that Google+ has an important role because it is the social network of Google (as far as ranking is concerned).
As far as networking is concernend, I am not sure Google+ could replace Facebook!

Facebook is constantly growing in popularity, it has a ridiculous reach, ridiculous time on site, and is still growing... It actually beat Google for the #1 spot yesterday, so I wouldn't worry, it's just getting larger and larger.

Slowed growth or dismal growth does not change that fact...

With this kind of reasoning, maybe I ought to boot my girlfriend when she turns 30, because she is closer to dead than she was when I met her...

Thank you guys for sharing our opinions regarding the real status of "facebook" in the internet or I mean status of Facebook Marketing. You all deserve my sincere thanks.

It seems that we need to properly use facebook like its purpose to connect people. Sometimes its not important who made success on facebook, its much better to do business and building strong reputation and relationships with your fans and friends. Maybe "facebook is not dead" or it is. What important is that we don't rely all our business strategies in just a single network. We have to explore NEW sites, TRENDS, and Ideas.

A lot of people think that Facebook or any other 1 single marketing technique is the only one out there. That is not true at all.

    There is:

    Yahoo PPC
    Google PPC
    Sold Ads
    Forum Marketing
    Article Marketing
    YouTube Video Marketing
    Blogging
    Twitter PPC
    Banner ads.

If you are not combining a few of them at the same time, what's going to happen when one day 1 of your strategies DIES off and does not work anymore for you? It could be a disaster.

You always want different places getting you traffic.

Google+ is hard to monetize unless your offering a service. You can't add leads like you can in Twitter or Facebook because people have to add you into their circles first. I've played with it for a year or so and honestly, I think its pants. Facebook is still where its at, you just have to know what your doing.

I would be lucky if others thought FB marketing is dead, because then I would be the only one using it with no competition and all the buyers possible. Assuming it remains one of the top-2 Internet destinations, that's not exactly something tiny or pithy.

I wish FB such a death immeidately  ...

But unfortunately, no matter what I wish, the death is far away... So yes, in that situation, it will make sense to make it only a part of the overall marketing storyboard.

Facebook's not dead, I will be the moment it will lose all of its users. What other social networks can one use to promote a website? It all depends on the niche you're interested in. Most geeks like to use Google+, cooks and cuisine freaks spend most of their time on Pinterest, photographers and artists usually promote their work through StumbleUpon...
There are so many social networks you can chose from, the secret is to find the one that's right for your niche.

One thing to keep in mind. Anyone promoting something related to social media may use a subject line: "Is facebook Dead?"

      DON'T TAKE THAT SERIOUSLY!!!

You might see it popping up all over the place, but consider the motivation...hmmmmmm, someone trying to promoting a non-facebook technique.

The other thing is that some *strategies* that used-to-work on facebook no longer work. What works on facebook also changes over time.

Yeah right. Facebook really upgrades every now and then. They continuously changing the web right now. We can say that almost all the population in the world is using facebook and marketers took that opportunity to do business. Facebook Ads really do work, I can say that. Imagine from the time I started the ads, it reached thousands of users a day and help me reach targeted traffic.

There you guys have it, just like SEO techniques, what working right now may not work years after. We too should keep updated on this changes.

Facebook is not our primary option when it comes to marketing, nor have we maximized the use of it. We just focus on SEO to drive traffic. We've also started with PPC. And then we are still on the process of building a huge list of targeted clients' email's and phone numbers for email marketing and telemarketing processes.

I think that the best days of Facebook are gone, like the best days of Twitter are gone, but besides that both are working very well for many people, and Google+ is just another social networking site. Pinterest too; it is another variation. Many people like StumbleUpon. Everything depends on where your prospects like to be.

I'm not sure I would say FB is dead, more likely the proliferation of the new kids on the block social media sites like Pinterest for example has been nicking a lot of people. So people naturally spread their time over a myriad of different sites.

I was researching this very topic for a client of mine, and I saw a nice infographic on social media trends over the past year. Facebook in terms of visitor volume was down 4% year on year, while Pinterest gained 1,000%+.

Here's the Infographic in case anyone is interested (not mine):

What Were Consumers Doing for 121 Billion Minutes This Past July?

FB has reached saturation - it would have to, given that just about everyone has an account. But It isn't dead!

  • I don't think Facebook is dead. The way to use it has changed.

Many people ignore facebook ads. As long as you track your campaign, do split tests and understand your metrics, there are plenty of profitable campaigns you can set up. Of course this depends on your market, but until you've tried you could be missing out on a gold mine.

Think about all the pages that your competitors have built with 10,000-100,000+ people who like them. You can actually target the audience of your competitors directly. This is a HUGE opportunity.

If you're not willing to advertise you can still use facebook. I recommend using a page. What makes the page grow is engaging your audience. It'll grow proportionally to the amount of time you spend. The more you post & respond to people who post on your page, the more it grows. It's a long term strategy.

Your goal shouldn't be to build your page and then try to get opt-ins. You'll only get opt-ins if you promote them in the midst of all the traffic that your page gets as it grows. You need to constantly work it. Posting to a facebook page gives you a free message in everyone's feed...

Don't wait until you have 25,000 people who like you and then expect to get a decent percentage to opt-in to a list that makes you money. Grow the list while you grow the page.

If you're looking for the next best thing after facebook, I recommend spending some time on pinterest, it's still in it's growth mode. We'll have to wait and see what comes next...

Hi there! If you're confident and satisfied with what you are earning and gaining on your campaign, you may ignore those social media site. Well, that's your opinion and I'll respect that. For me, I'm gaining more from social media sites that's why this became part of my campaign.

Facebook is still a huge part of people's lives. G+ is dead because Google have built it for Google, not for people.

LinkedIn is very important if you're in a certain niche (like being a software developer/programme manager etc. etc.).

Twitter is popular but I've never really got much from it.

We have seen this question many times: "Is Facebook Dead?"

But I realized, though asking questions for the sake of argument is not a crime, is this question or theory statistically backed-up with processed data (information) that will make it worthy to be discussed?

I read somebody else's post in the past that Facebook will die in the next five years.

Did any authorized group make a survey on all these forecasts on Facebook?

Yeah I've seen this also on some social media platform, but all answers are still the same. Not Yet. Facebook aint dead even on the coming years. As long as Facebook satisfies the users with their new projects and features. It also uses by governments in some parts of the world just the same scenario with Twitter. What is important for now is that we can adapt the changes in Online Marketing and we are able to share it with others.

You can be sure that FB is definitely not dead. It's nearly impossible to predict what will happen in 4 or 5 years, because the internet is very dynamic and is always changing, but now FB is a powerful traffic source.

We are doing a lot of social media for our local clients as well as PPC on Fb and the results have been great. When used properly, it's possible to get lot's of laser targeted traffc from FB. In fact, often times we get better traffic from FB than from Google (and no, I'm not exaggerating), because with G we have just a keyword, while with FB we have all the demographics of our visitors (talking about paid advertising) and know exactly who is on the other side.
