Web Hosting for newbie

What web hosting company would you recommend for a newbie to take up for his first site and domain?
Is Hostgator and GoDaddy the best options as they seem the biggest/most popular?

Many Thanks

Hostgator are easy to deal with and set up if you are after reasonable priced shared hosting.
I prefer namecheap to godaddy for domain registration, and you can usually find namecheap discounts on the internet without too much trouble.

Hawkhost is recommended by me. For the domain I think name.come is great also.

There's a whole issue with GoDaddy practically stealing peoples domains, Google a bit about it.
I'm with NameCheap and HostGator and very pleased.

It's all a matter of preference. I use Bluehost, as I'm allowed as many domains as I like and the customer service is excellent. Also, I've never had any 'downtime' on their servers. My advice would be, use one of the bigger companies, like Bluehost or HostGator. I agree with IMPromocoder and use namecheap for my domains.

    Cheers,

    Godaddy sucks.

Hostgator is alright. I'm a big fan of BlueHost as well. Their support is fantastic and they have very solid tutorial videos that are suitable for newbs.

Another vote for Bluehost or Hostgator for hosting - excellent 24/7 support from both. I usually use namecheap for domain registrations and haven't experienced any problems.

Use Blue Host or Host Gator. Only these two are the best hosting provider.
Use the one which satisfies your needs most. I think Blue Host will do best for you.

So you are registering your domain with namecheap and hosting the domain with bluehost. In order to get your info(at)mydomain.com email address all you have to do is add that email address in your cPanel account with Bluehost.

Hostgator is ideal for a newbie. They have good uptimes and a very helpful support team. I second being wary of GoDaddy. Only yesterday an internet marketing Facebook Group I am in was discussing more problems with their hosting.

My plan is to open membership sites where content is mainly teachig videos. I'm going to use WordPress + OptimizePress + WishList + Clickbank. My plan is that there is landing page where visitors get free gift (they give their e-mail address). After that sales letter. CAN I USE GVO for this purpose?

My first plan was to use Amazon for video hosting and Aweber for e-mail marketing. Why GVO is better or is it?
