"Buy Now" Clicks Do Not Materialize. How Come?

Hi all,

I've got the following question:
I'm selling an eBook on my site Culture Matters.
On the Left hand side, in the side bar there is a BIG "Buy Now" button. Everything is explained before people click: what they get, the price etc.
I get a number of clicks a day (not the world, but still), however none of these clicks materialize in a sale.
The Buy Now button leads to e-junkie.com.
I've used the WP plugin PrettyLink to make it a nice looking link.

After clikcing the Buy Now button, people are lead to PayPal where they can use PayPal or a credit card (I explain this process on this page).

Why do these "Buy Now" clicks not materialize?
I've changed the button already from "Add To Cart" to "Buy Now".

What am I missing?

thx
Chris

Really this seems pretty normal. You also have to understand that a lot of people won't read an entire sales page and they'll just look for the shiny "BUY NOW" because they're lazy. I know the price is listed there but they'll see that button, click it and then leave the page once they find out it's more than they want to spend.

I'm not particularly a fan of e-junkie's checkout page, that might be hurting conversion rates as well.

They click buy now and then see the price, change mind.
They click buy now to try and find more information, change mind.
They click buy now and it takes them to a 3rd party site, change mind.

Many reasons out there, the trick is figuring out which is most prevalent on your site, and then fixing it.

There is ... but what there isn't is any explanation or sales page for the book before people see that (i.e. it's in completely the wrong place). I wouldn't think anyone clicking that button, on your landing-page, will actually be intending to buy it, at that point?

I must have completely missed that.

Maybe everyone else is missing it, too?

    A sales process, I think?

    Thanks all for the comments.

    I've changed a few things:
Left the button, but redirected it to the sales page now.

Is there any avarage on how many "Buy Now" clicks (meaning when they're on e-junkie) will convert?

And if I want to keep total control of the whole process is WooCommerce the defacto standard for WP?
