I cringe when I see New User Registration for your blog emails

Lately everytime I've gotten a New User to my blogs, it has been someone hoping to spam. They never get far, but I still worry that they are trying to mess with the site. I really hate to turn off comments totally however.

I make any comment with 1 URL require moderation. I figure legit comments won't include URL's.

I have Akismet and Spam Karma 2 installed on mine as well as requiring a Registration. So far so good, nothing has gotten through.

as well as requiring a Registration

If you are trying to build a blog that has inner action with the readers that will dramatically decrease the inner action you get.

If the site is more of a static site that does not require interaction then that may be a good option.

I use Wordpress for my blog and have it set up so that any new comment needs my approval before it appears. This, when paired with the Akismet and a Captcha have helped me keep the spammers away.
