Advanced Warriors: What Are Your Favorite Internet Tools?

by netrover 47 replies
I have been using the same set of internet tools for so long(Hootsuite, PR Web, Vimeo, YT, Wordpress, etc.) because I've been too lazy to find new ones, and feel like I am missing out on some of the new stuff that has been coming out.

I would like to get a list of tools (and even websites) that the intermediate to advanced marketers use in all aspects of their business: admin, collaboration, and anything that you feel saves you time, makes you more money, and basically makes things more efficient.

Thanks!

Tools and Resources: Filezilla, Gimp, Optimize Press, Logitech, Aweber, Market Samurai, Format It, Jing, Camtasia, Hostgator, Merchant Account, Video Camera, Open Office, Mind Map, You Tube, Blog, Training Back Office, Google Analytics, My Brain...

The beauty of editing. I can reply to stuff that is ahead. I forgot to mention that the internet is my biggest tool. Thank you eglassman88 for reminding me of that. I guess I take it for granted because it seems like from a young boy its been around.

Just got some tips from friends:

Evernote- capture anything online, access anywhere, find fast using keywords.

    Dropbox- similar to evernote

FreeConferenceCall.com - FREE conference calls up to 96 people, optional free recording

Rssgraffiti.com - post RSS and Twitter feeds to Facebook

Google Drive- no need for MS Office!

And of course instant teleseminar and gotomeeting.

Can anyone add more to the list?

I have a huge list of Internet marketing tools that I've compiled. They're all high quality resources with free reports, tools, graphics, tutorials and whatever else you can think of - and with no affiliate links or useless junk links to resources everybody and their dog are using. Oh yeah, they're all free resources and free to download.

      Smart marketing. Very smart.

I also think that not using confirmed opt-in is smart for list building. But that's just me.

My best advice is to NOT go looking for new tools unless you need them.

It will only sidetrack you unnecessarily.

    My list goes as follows,

    Market Samurai
    Mass Video Blaster
    Custom Made Youtube Account Creator
    Tweet Adder
And a Dedicated Server To Run Them All On
Also a few others I can't recall at the moment.

I mainly use Market Samurai though, because my main source of Income comes from PPC and I love the software. I still do a lot of the work manually to get a more accurate view.

Never rely purely on software because that "Lifetime" means the lifetime of that software, which could stop being updated at anytime then be useless

WillR is right - only buy or download tools you actually need. Here are 3 I like:

    1) Snagit
    2) Camtasia Studio
    3) FrontPage

But my favourite thing in the world is a little 'ole MP3 player because I download interviews, podcasts, audiobooks etc onto it and listen to it whenever and wherever I want.

For internet marketing, I joined Webfire, they have the SEO tools that you would need in one membership website.

I agree with WillR , it's best not go looking for new tools unless you need them. I bought alot of tools thinking that I would use them and I never ended up using 80% of them

Notepad! because I write everything down while I'm working or reading. And then at the end of the day sort things out into to-do-list and call it at night.

When you get up in the morning you know exactly what you want to work on. When you get good at this shit you don't want to walk around with ideas in your head.

Performing tasks is more efficient when you can get your ideas on paper or in front of you so you can touch and feel this stuff in your gut. When you can feel it then you can transfer it to your leads. Results; a responsive list that everyone is dreaming about!

Evernote, Astrid Tasks, Google Drive, Open Office, and LastPass are used multiple times a day, every day. Really, though, I'm also stunned at how dependent on my smartphone I've become. It's my phone/notepad/mediaplayer/camera - and I use all of those function damn near daily (especially with Evernote - that is one HELL of an app!).

Curious if you've tried any of the other auto responders. I know Aweber has the best reputation but it seems a couple of the other cheaper ones may be as good. Anyone recommend any of the others?

Market Samurai is one of my favorite tools. I use it the most when I want to see what kind of backlinks my competitors have and if I can somehow replicate those links or create a similar backlink profile. I can see overall what I have to do to get the top ranking.

Hi - you say "internet", but also say "efficiency".

So when I think of efficiency and my work I immediately thnk:

Yes agreed - Dropbox, Evernote, Camtastia, Outlook, Mindjet (mind maps), Smartdraw (flow charts), Excel....... but in terms of "infrastructure" - ie I use it ALL THE TIME, I say:

    1. Everything desktop search. Free. Stunning. I use it ten times an hour. I have it assigned to Ctrl + 3. (BUT if you use Dropbox too there is a conflict with the recent Dropbox update. Easily fixed - see my post here)

    2. Chameleon folder - folder manager. Free. There are various alternatives around but this does the job highly adequately. With these two, finding the files you want is super-fast. Chameleon works in any dialogue box. I have it assigned to Ctrl+2.

    3. Ditto clipboard replacement. Free. I often want to paste what I copied 2, 3, 4 or 5 copies ago. Ditto allows me to to do that fast. I have it assigned to Ctrl +1. Wonderful.

    4. The Secret Weapon. Free. Time management par excellence. The easiest application of David Allen's Getting Things Done you will ever find. And it uses the excellent Evernote.

    5. Fastever for iPad and iPhone - gather To Do items for immediate transport to you Secret Weapon system in Evernote.

    6. Mindjet - used to be Mind Manager. Simply the best mind mapping software. Invaluable for planning and for recording relationships between data visually. Pricey!

    7. Smartdraw - when it definitely IS a process and not a mind map, Smartdraw cannot be beat. Pricey. And there is no decent free alternative flow charting software. So bite the bullet ;-)

    8. Logitech Performance MX mouse. Key benefit? The weighted scroll wheel. Fantastic feature - love it. Give it a spin and it just keeps turning down that lo-o-o-o-ong page. If you do that 20 times in an hour sometimes that's a lot of time - and frustration - saved. If I lost it tomorrow, I'd immediately get another one. There's not a lot to choose between mice: except this one.

    9. A quad core chip and SSD hard drive(s). Really speeds things up. SSDs- read the comparisons at: www.fastestssd.com. My new ones are: Crucial M4s, 256GB. (Plural because I mirror to a second drive using RAID, as a total backup). [Anyone wanna make me an offer for 2 x 120GBs? LOL)

    10. FSL launcher! Programme launcher. Free. Nearly forgot that one!! It's a joy! If I want to load any one of 100 programmes I have at my fingertips I move my cursor to the top left of the left-most of my 2 x 28 inch screens, and FSL launcher appears. It has ten tabs, one for each category of progamme - utilities, video, Office, etc etc. Each tab has the launch icon for the programmes in that category. If I want a new one in there: just drag and drop a shortcut from the Desktop. I use FSL 100 times a day.

That was fun - I'll stop there at ten!

Hope there are some ideas for some people - and for you Netrover :-)

Google keywords tool (As good as most paid for options so why buy?)

Google Analytics (As good as most paid for options so why buy?)

    Apple Pages for e-books

Audacity for podcasts and recording guided visualisations.

    VideoScribe for scribble-style videos

    iMovie for videos.
