Seeking Honest Feedback For New Startup

Let me upfront, this is not a promotion.

I'm seeking some good, honest feedback on the value of the app we created to increase website visitor engagement and conversions.

Everyone hates pop-ups, and marketers don't want to have to program new calls to action, so we created SideSpur to make it easier to create any type of call to action for any blog post or webpage with out IT support.

In exchange for your feedback, I'll give you a free 1-year account and support to get you started.

Our product is at SideSpur.com

    Hi jgarvin79,

Welcome to WarriorForum. I watched the video on your page and must say I'm quite impressed! Here's my feedback with regards to the SideSpur product.

    - I absolutely love how this is a multi-purpose tool. It's not just about generating leads but you can use it for different things like getting feedback and promoting offers.
    - I love the fluidity of it. You don't need to go from one page to the next. You can get it all done with it taking up minimal space.

My question is, for services like Aweber, how would they be directed to a thank you page or something like that to encourage them to double opt-in. After all, the idea of SideSpur is that you do everything without leaving the page.

My only negative feedback, if you could call it that, is that it's not eye-catching enough. As an email marketer, I need my opt-in to be see. It needs to be huge and that's why the lightbox works so well. I like that it discourages popups by staying out of the way, but what sort of conversions can I realistically hope for with it?

I'd love to sign up and test it out. All the best.

    Cheers,
    CTL

does that roll out on its own or do you have to click on the tab? The tab is ok but not really any different then having to click on a link to open the pop up (like back in the old days) if it doesn't roll out automatically. IMHO you should make it roll out at least once. I don't see that to be offensive. But without that not so good. there was a majic button software that allowed a picture or optin to move along with the page. At first I thought that is what I will see. Glad it was not that. I'm sure some will disagree with me but I like the fact that you can add a movie and the design is nice too. Your color choices attract eyeballs as well.

      Hi Claire,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the SideSpur can slide out on its own to grab the visitor's attention. You can customize the exact timing of when it slides out either by time (e.g., 3 seconds after a visitor lands on the page) or by # of page views (e.g., show only after visitor has visited 2 web pages). You can also decide if the call to action is shown to only new visitors or to all visitors.

Hope you decide to give it a go. You can signup for your free 1-year account herehttp://my.sidespur.com/campaign.aspx?action=signup

Just seen the video, and I liked it.
I like the fact you can position it on all 4 sides of the screen, that it can popup on timing or on click, it's cool cause I was about to ask if that's possible and then I went through the possibilities. Just a few questions/suggestions - Is it possible to have more than one on a single page? like having a few bookmarks one next to another.
Honestly, I think it's a great tool, I'd love to try it out on some of my sites.

    Cheers and good luck!

For small business owners and online marketers I would say that a lightbox pop up might be the most logical fit if one would want to collect leads on their website at the highest conversion rate. I have seen higher then 30% using a lightbox and over 50% with a lead capture page. You also can program a lightbox pop up to remain on the page the visitor is on. I know those lightbox pop ups are known to be annoying but capturing 1 in 3 visitors info is incredible. What is the average conversion rate of side spur in your experiences from cold traffic?

Hi JamesRich.... Appreciate the feedback. We're just launching and currently collecting data and feedback. We've seen the most promise of being able to boost conversion rates by being able to create a specific call to action that is specific to a certain blog post. For example, if in one blog post you are writing about "Make money from email marketing", the call to action you can create specifically for that blog post could be "Learn more about how to make money from email marketing". Likewise if you are write a blog post about "how to make money as an affiliate", you can create a specific call to action title "Learn how to make more money as an affiliate".

The 1 in 3 you mention is also dependent on a lot of factors, not just the fact the lightbox is used. If you used the same call to action on the same webpage, I guarantee, the conversion rates would be 1 in 3 or higher. We'd be happy to run a controlled experiment with you if you'd like.

      Cheers,

      James

The product is something we can use, but you need to invest in a better microphone. The video is loud, scratchy and has a buzzing sound. You will definitely need to redo the video sound with a clearer mic

Ha Alex - you're spot on. We went cheap on the first demo video, but are working on a new one. Tough to get everything done when everything needs to be done, but it's in the pipeline. Appreciate the feedback.

      Cheers,
