Google adwords, Bing ads, yahoo ads can be good options for you. They can send you high quality traffic and can give the full value of your money.

Make sure to test different parts of your landing page and have all the attention focused on the prospect taking your most desired action (opt-in, sale, etc.)

I would recommend to try Facebook PPC and target people who have liked other travel companies pages, etc.

The fact that most paid traffic will provide you short term benefits, keeps me away from this option. Anyway there are many free methods (Takes your efforts and time BTW) which are equally effective to bring targeted traffic to your website.

    1. Long Term Traffic
Its been proven many times that search engines are the most powerful and steady source of quality human traffic to any sites irrespective of the niche. Although it is a long term investment, but the end results can be more than fruitful than your hard work. So invest some time daily to SEO on your site by building quality backlinks to your website after you have finished the keyword research.

    2. Instant Traffic
As SEO takes time to get your results and your website needs traffic even if its new. You need to explore those instant traffic sources which will bring traffic to your website. And there are numerous such sources ranging from Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites, Yahoo Answers, niche forum posting, Classifieds ads and some more.

Few hours research will reveal many such sources for sure.

Find sites which are related to your industry and contact them for placing ads on their websites. For example, you can contact travel related websites which feature information about your city and then place ads there.

I'm surprised for the vote of confidence in adwords/bing ppc but I take the advice on board with many thanks. I was also looking for maybe high traffic travel focused blogs that take paid ads. We are still at early stages on our marketing and trying to get content right but I wanted to look at budget allocations.

Google adwords is a double edged sword.A proper planning of the campaign is vital for its success.

A good press release is a good way of reaching people for a hospitality industry. Assuming you have onsite SEO in good place on your website, work out on unique well written content and publish it on good websites - absolutely no for article directories. Guest posting on popular blogs is a good idea, I believe.

A number of traffic generation methods are available. It needs a bit of reading and choosing the right method for your niche.

Thanks for advice. We are initially going the SEO route. At the end of our 2nd week live we have 81 urls indexed on google and position 6 for a relevant keyword (although I expect it to dance around a lot). I have learnt a lot of new stuff on hotel mktg and have some doubts as to my starting the site in the first place. But a lot of people make money in the hotel affiliate sector and I make a living in dating market which is just as competitive.

I would save my money for:

      Text ads on Trip advisor
      Paid ads on Expedia

But if you really want to make money try this:

-Contact the hotels you are advertising, and ask to affiliate with them; get their room rates
-But first, check on Trip Advisor, which hotel has not activated their business listing, and contact them and ask them to allow you to become manager of the hotel on Trip Advisor
-Add your site, email, phone etc.
-Ask from the hotel to allow you to add a discount coupon in one of their web back pages; this will allow you to add an offer on the business listing, and the offer will be visible on Trip Advisor's main page for the city or area the hotel is located, so you will get great traffic and enquiries on the hotel's Business listing page
-If you manage to pull this with one good hotel, and your pricing is right, and the hotel gives you competitive rates, you can make $100-$1000 a day. And the cost for a business listing is a monthly fee, depending on the number of rooms the hotel has. Just make sure the hotel works all the months of the year and is not seasonal.

A word of caution; if you decide to pull off the plug from the Business listing subscription, it will take time; Trip Advisor is very busy, and they do this manually, so don't leave it for the end of the monthly subscription. Start bugging them at least two weeks before the end of the subscription. And call them; don;t wait for emails.

      All the best.

And, you can find some popular blog in hotel niche and ask them if they allow banner advertisement, it would also work good.
