Kobo Or Members Only Site?

Hello, I have developed a really cool culinary system. Here is my conundrum:
#1. Kobo the system?
#2. Members only site?
The thought of Kobo makes me hesitant. After doing research, people are selling books for 5.00. OUCH. My user guide is 54 pages and will be about 100 when complete. Pics, videos, easy-to-use. It's a complete how to guide. One of the components will be chocolate related.
A members only site intrigues me. It would be quite simple to add new videos monthly. How are other members fairing with hackers? Charge backs from stolen CC #'s?
Both methods have their pros and cons. I am really not sure which way to go at this point. Thanks for your time.
