Switching from Constant Contact to Aweber

Has anyone has a successful switch from Constant Contact to Aweber?

A success would be a very small attrition of existing subscribers - I have a list of 6K and am worried the switch will decimate the list -
Thanks!

They will all have to confirm that they want to receive emails from you. You can lose a lot of them doing this switch. Why not just keep your Constant Contact account and start with Aweber as a second account?

You need to slowly migrate over.

Tell them what's happening. In return for switching over, make them an offer for a freebie they can't refuse. Setup the freebie on Aweber.

Whoever doesn't click at Constant Contact, email again...and again until you've truly brought over the interested subscribers.

That's the only way to really pull it off. If you simply export/import the list, Aweber will ask you to opt them in and you'll lose a good 60% or more.

Not only that, but it might bring your cost down at Constant Contact for the people who wont migrate, incase you need to keep that account open...

I actually just saw a video from one of the marketers that I follow, which made a VERY compelling argument for doing the exact opposite. You may want to look at the numbers before you decide to switch.

I'm with Aweber now and with a list of under a thousand I'm already playing about thirty bucks. When I looked at Constant Contact the same list would cost me fifteen.
And feature-wise they seem way more advanced than Aweber.

If the main goal is to move away from Constant Contact, check out iContact as an alternative. Unless they've changed their TOS, you can import existing legit lists like you have without having to do a confirmed opt-in, which won't wipe out your list like importing it into Aweber would.
