I need a new hosting site

I have just received notice that my hosting company is restricting emails to 300 per day which is absolutely ridiculous.

So, I would like to know what other sites are worth considering. The one I am with right now is Hosthead.

I look forward to your replies.

TOPIC NOW CLOSED. HOSTING COMPANY CAME TO THEIR SENSES AFTER A VEILED THREAT TO LEAVE.

Hostgator is a excellent hosting company. Why are you not sending emails out with a autoresponder like Aweber? There is no limit and you can communicate through broadcast or follow up messages.

Most companies should have that set to per hour. Are you sure it's not per hour?

You might as well just go sign up at HostGator, everyone else who posts here is going to tell you that anyway.

I'd recommend, myself of course, StableHost, MDDHosting, HawkHost, Eleven2 & VidaHost.

Try Hostgator or Yahoo Web Hosting. Both very reliable.

It depends what your budget is. If you are looking for a cheap provider look at Bluehost.com or HostGator.com. There are a number of more expensive hosting companies that can help with what specifically you are looking for but they will cost significantly more.

Do autoresponder owners take email lists and use them for their own needs as well? Might sound like a dumb question but I don't know the answer and my webmaster asked me the question.

      Laurence,

Reputable companies like Aweber, GetResponse, Imnica etc do not do that. Your data is your own.

Using one of those types of services is really the way to go if you are sending out a lot of emails.

^This exactly. If you start sending out tons of mail from a shared hosting account you are more than likely going to get the IP blacklisted or have 90% of your emails go into the spam folder.

On a side note, take a look at Mandrill App if you have a program that can send using SMTP. It's a great solution for sending mail. You send the mail from your server/account, then it authenticates with Mandrill. Mandrill then signs the email and verifies your SPF/DKIM records.

We used to have a problem with our customer account information getting flagged because the subject line was "New Account Information". We've since switched all of our billing, system, alerting & marketing emails over to using Mandrill. Works flawlessly. We only send mail to customers who have signed up through us or we customers of other companies we've acquired. I wouldn't recommend just blasting some list someone sold you though..

We have our own opt in list but our hosting site says they are going to limit it. However, we threatened to move our business and they are now reconsidering too....funny about that.

 So they're flip flopping? I'd like to know why they were considering tightening up the mail limits in the first place. Usually a company does this due to IP's getting blacklisted or due to spammers. If this company is making a decision like this, but then changes their mind, I'd be a bit wary of what else they might do just "willy-nilly". Sounds a bit odd to me...

We have been with them for about 4 years.... a few months ago an idiot did make a complaint about us but it was all BS. I think that is why they are stuffing around. We have 2 sites using them and never had any trouble before. IT only takes one idiot to mess things up.

Like I mentioned above, even as direct competitors to my company, I'd recommend StableHost, MDDHosting, HawkHost, Eleven2 & VidaHost.

They are all very solid, stable & honest companies.

or use hostgator. You can use "BigGeniusCode" for 50% off.

  • Take a look at Mailchimp for your emails. You can send 12,000 emails a month to a list of up to 2,000 subscribers with MailChimp’s Forever Free plan.

The only downside to their free plan is that you don't have the use of an autoresponder.

A lot of hosting companies have restrictions when it comes to sending email. Hostgator is no exception - HostGator Mail Policy

It's always a good idea to read through the terms and conditions of any company you're doing business with. I know that can be a bit daunting, but it's a good policy to follow. The reason we see so many threads "...My account just got shut down..." is because most of those people didn't read the "Terms" first!

I would go with either Aweber or Getresponse because of deliverability and they have a good relationship with the various ISPs.

Hostgator is what I use. Believe it or not they are now improving. I was worried when they got bought up this year. OK so far I am happy with what I am seeing. Perhaps you do not like their prices. Those are not the lowest in town, but they are well worth the extra money.
