I have a friend who's into photography and finally wants to put up her own website. She is planning on writing up some ebooks to sell, along with stock photos. I told her e-junkie but im not sure if It was the best recommendation. If I could get some advice that I could tell her, that would be really nice. Something that makes everything simple and easy for her. A cart type of plugin or something I was thinking as well. So any ideas would help. Thank you

I use DLGuard for delivery of all my digital products. It's great. Delivers expiring urls for security purposes and you can use it for as many products as you have. Buy it once and that's it.

Absolutely. WooCommerce has delivery of digital products built in and you can even store them in Amazon S3 (with the Amazon S3 extension) and deliver them if you have a lot or very large digital downloads to deliver.

How is WooCommerce for selling digital SERVICES? Can you collect information from your customer before they purchase such as website URL, keywords etc without redirecting them to offsite order forms or doing anything else not too customer friendly?

I don't even think about trying to capture that kind of info. I can get that info from AWstats or from analytics. I have 4 woo commerce sites, 3 for physical products and one for digital. The reports that are built in are for sales, customers and stock. There are so many plugins that do a lot for Woo Commerce, like the ability to email all your customers from the back end of your Wordpress installation, sell gift certificates on your site to give to others, and much more.

For $29, you can buy extensions for reporting, like mixpanel and kiss metrics.

    Hi...

I used to use DLGuard to deliver my digital products, and was fairly pleased with it. My only issue was the occasion bug encountered, which led to delayed downloads and upset customers.

Currently, I am using ejunkie. It is a monthly expense, but it is low to start out with. Without checking, I believe it's like $5 a month for your first 5 or so digital products. You can upgrade to a larger plan once you get more products to sell.

They also have an affiliate option, so that you can get others to start selling your products/services for you, but I haven't used that feature yet.

One feature that I do like is the ability to email buyers that have purchased from you in the past. So whenever I lunch a new product for sale, I am able to send out an email blast to all of my past buyers to let them know. This is an additional cost, but it's much lower than you think. This is beneficial for those starting out who have gotten their mailing list set up yet, or for those that don't want to spend $15 - $20 a month for an autoresponder.

    Hope this info helps.

I mean capture that info because of needing it to fulfill an order not just for the sake of it. It would be essential information that's needed from the client otherwise the order (digital services, i.e. SEO, logo design etc) wouldn't be possible. I use BigCommerce currently and you can have the customer give you additional info before purchasing to get it, I just wondered if WooCommerce had a similar set up?

Yep. I get address, email, telephone number of the customer. It collects that and saves that information so you have your complete customer database any time you need it.

This is some really great information, and Im going to look more deeply into all of those that you recommended. Thank you and I appreciate your time answering my question. The thing about JVzoo that is making want to recommend that one is the fact that it's completely free to start.

That is exactly what I wanted to say. Since it's free and your friend is just starting out, JVzoo would be the way to go.
