I'm starting a membership site. What are my best options?

Hey,

I'm looking to create a membership site with wordpress.

And I was wondering what do you think is the best theme/script for that?

I want it to be protected and also people automatically register when they
join. I don't want to have to manually send them their passwords

Also I want to have $1 trial for a few days and then a monthly fee,
while also having affiliates get paid instantly.

Can I do that with JVZoo? Or what should I use?

So that's it.

I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks

  • Have you checked out WishList Membership Plugin yet?

    • Take a look at this membership website script cms based. It great and more secure than other script. Features you need included in this script. Try demo here: CMS Based Membership Website Script
    • I recommend Wishlist Member as well. It isn't free ($97 for one license) but it's much more robust and easier to use than s2member IMHO. It's what I use and I'm very happy with it.

  • The s2member plugin will do that for you. The plugin also integrates with Jvzoo.
  • Wishlist membership plugin is definitely the way to go!

Check it out: WishList Member | Membership Site Software
  • so there is no more options for membership plugins?...I am trying to make s2member work but is a pain in the #ss. Any better suggestions? Anyone????

  • Dear lord people, there are dozens of threads about WP membership plugins...
  • I use optimize press as the membership platform

And fast member for the membership security software

This combination works awesome for me, I just log in every day and check my conversions and stats

Once you have everything set up you can add it to places like clickbank to attract more affiliates

There is a lot of technical stuff that needs to be done for setting everything up so if you're not a techy person you will need to outsource this task

  • I have to agree with Will and Ron, Wishlist is the way to go if you are wanting to setup a membership site. As much as I like Optimize Press, I wouldn't create a membership site with it.

    • Member Rocket is another WP plugin you might want to check out.

It has tons of very useful features compared to many of the others mentioned above.

The biggest downfall is it's price, so do some research on what you have available and I'm sure you will pick out what's right for you.
  • Optimize Press & Profits themes, and my favourite OptinLite (It doesn't lock all your data into it as the previous two) - if you are looking for an integrated all-in-one wp plugin.

Wishlist, DAP, s2member - if you are looking for membership only solutions with probably better security than the above options.

    Good luck.

  • Use amember wordpress plugin, very good for membership websites...
    seacrh google for amember
  • Personally I will recommend you use amember pro 4 and use the option of wordpress add-on plugin in the amember pro admin section.
  • I use optimize press and dap and haven't had any problems at all. I hear wish list is a great plugin also.

  • 1) Amember Pro - Membership site Script

    2) Themeforest Theme like Frontline or Flashlight

    3) Doing Good Seo of sales page including High Social Signals. In my opinion outsource this step to professionals!

That's all you need. For Content use Videos , Text Post with Screenshots. Infographs and Whiteboard Drawing Videos
  • Fastmember is a great plug-in to manage all your subscriber/auto-responder/affiliate, etc. info.

Use any nice looking theme you want for presentation.

    Cheers.
  • Wishlist Member all the way.

  • I released MemberSonic in September. The WSO is closed (sold over 800 licenses), but it is available here:

  • Amember seems a good pick.
  • I completely disagree with the popular opinion on this thread.

I'm sure you guys have had great experiences with Wishlist but I've set up a LOT of membership sites and you need to go with DAP over WishList member. DAP has VASTLY superior functionality, better documentation, and better support.

Yes it takes a bit more mental exertion to figure it out AT FIRST but..

Trust me. I've used every membership plugin on the market. DAP rocks them all!

As far as what you want to do...

DAP will integrate with JVzoo but if you want recurring payments with a $1 trial, you're better off with DigiResults or Clickbank.

    • I agree

A lot of people jump on the Wishlist OP bandwagon. It's certainly a feasible way to go, especially if you are newer because it's super simple and relatively inexpensive, but I personally don't like it

      DAP works well

Kajabi is easy as heck and very professional

I have done forum based membership sites as well (Vbull and some others have CMS within it) etc

Like I said, nothing wrong with going the wordpress/wl/op route, it's just over-used and I like being a little different (and there are more flexible and better looking options out there)
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • I personally use Optimizepress + Wishlist Member, it's great and has all the features you requested.
  • Made lots with Profits Theme.. and had success!
  • I'm currently setting up one using Optimize Press and DAP. It looks good but boy... There is a lot to learn!

  • I have tried S2Members and I think it is pretty good.
  • What about member gate, anyone tried that.
  • I've used the Wordpress plugin Magic Members, based on it's integration with Magic Affiliates and it works well for our business.
