Signature Link Creates Sales?

I have downloaded a few freebie PDF files from the war room recently and many are promoting the success they have with offering great value to other forum members and including a signature file so if anyone loves your advice and wants to know more can click it. I can't really find any amazing success stories online about forum marketing so I thought I would make an anonymous poll here to see how many sales per day warriors get from forum marketing.

Look forward to seeing the results.

Please place your poll entry above!

That's a really good question, and I've actually wondered the same. Curious to see what some other people have to say.

Mikey, the data won't be conclusive since you'd need to factor in the extensiveness of the exposure too; specifically how many forums each person is advertising across as well as their rate of activity on each.

          Hey Daniel,

I know what you mean but it will give some indication of how many sales people get in a general sense for forum marketing.

          Cheers, Mikey

        Mikey,

I have not made any concentrated efforts in forum marketing, though I have been toying with the idea.
I do have a sig with a link to my WF thread, but I have not tracked clicks or conversions. So, I can't say, definitively, whether or not it works for me.
But, forum marketing is widely touted as a viable marketing strategy because it supposedly helps get over the know-like-trust hurdle.
Personally, I do occasionally click on links in folks' sig, but I don't usually buy anything or opt into any lists.
Based on that, I think forum marketing is indeed viable for generating traffic and, perhaps, sales, if the landing pages are convincing and the visitors are willing and able to take action.

Yes Robert, this is exactly what sounds appealing about it. It's kinda like pre-sell in a different way.

This works for generating traffic of course, but the sales are really dependent on your offering, the quality of your forum responses, relevance of offer, etc.

Forum marketing is a great way to generate traffic though.

We have a super support agent who our customers love as she really loves to help them and I was thinking of setting her an account up in same niche forum and asking her to go and share and help people achieve there goals and give great value. Then use the signature link to point back to our website. I have not got time myself so i thought choosing our best customer support agent maybe a good idea for this method of traffic generation.

The forum sig doesn't EXACTLY bring sales, it brings traffic.

It's up to you how you monetize that traffic.

I mean, I don't know if this one click from my signature is the one who bought the product I promoted 2 weeks later, right?

I would be tracking any sig links to know these facts. I suggest everyone do the same. This would be the best way to know where sales are coming from I think.

      This. Exactly.

      I don't remember seeing a sig-file link directly to a payment/order page, so far.

Sig-files don't make sales - they produce visitors to whom you can make sales, given the effectiveness of all the other things that your sales process depends on. Even if you're linking in your sig-file directly to a sales page (of which there are many examples right here in the WF), you're not going to make sales unless the sales page is good, the traffic's targeted for that offer, and so on.

I was under the impression that the relationship developed on the forum kinda helped make the sale! You overcome the trust issue that is so lacking on the internet.

Of course, we all need to have a good website marketing the correct products / services. I thought this went without saying.

How about you Alexa? Do you create many sales from forums? I am sure you track all these things?

Undoubtedly. Well, in commercial terms, that's "pre-selling", isn't it? It's building credibility just like an article you might have published somewhere (as a "guest blog post", or whatever) does the same, so that your recommendations carry more weight?

Yes, some ... my problem with that is that not all my niches have good forums available for conveniently doing that. But I try (and in my biggest niche I actually own a forum: that's different, though: you'd have to call that "advertising", really, I think).

            Thanks for the clarification!

My niche is self-improvement and we have a product that helps people greatly... I think there should be many good forums where this method may work well.

Btw Alexa: I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks for Sharin so much here. I often come across your posts and always give them extra attention.

I have put some of my wso's in my sig previously and if i used to be active every day i used to generate anywhere from 1 sale per day to 5 sales per day

there are a lot of variables involved though such as how good your sales page is and if you provide good info based on what your wso's are about because then some people may click through and then buy your wso

i did this for around 5 months and just checked my stats and i made around 300 sales from just
my wf sig and that includes some upsells as well

The question is flawed..... It is all based on where you post, what you say, and the funnel you have set-up. so if you get 10 leads a day from your sig and you are catering to fresh newbies and you are offering optimize press. You sales are going to suck. They have no need for this yet as they don't even know what a squeeze page is. You will get leads. Again based on where and what.

I would agree with the other to replace sales with traffic.

It may and it may not get you some traffic, if i were you I wouldn't count on it.

If you are in a related forum to your niche, you probably will get few leads. However, you wouldn't get that much of traffic.

A classified ad in the right place will give you way better exposure

I love german shepherds. I am active in a forum there. I recommend a ebook, on how to train them with my affilate link. Its another niche, so not really knowledgeable about affialte links, so not being shutdown. I have about 5k posts there and i am making about 15-30 sales per week, but i am super active there which is 1 reason so many sales

Laurence ... you can track all the links from different forums with a google tracking link ... this will then show up in your google analytics account when you get a conversion etc.

This way you can see what works best and then work harder on that particular forum.

      Hope that helps

Even as a beginner I can see a increase in traffic (not sales as I am not selling anything)

I don't post on here all that much, i am kind of busy running my "main business". That said, i spend a couple of hours on here every now and again.

Today i have had 100 or so visitors through my sig. I also have a 20% opt in rate on my site. So i am getting 20 email opt-ins a day atm.

This obviously converts in to a few sales

My opt-in rate overall from three links is about 38%.
