This is absolute nonsense. Fiverr is just like a classified ads site, except they figured out an angle that lets them take 20% of all transactions. It isn't some vast conspiracy to rip you off.

Many, many Warriors have reported great results from using Fiverr to find great service providers, and I have some great experiences of my own as well, including finding one great provider who has become a business partner.

Can you get ripped off? Sure, for $5, if you are careless about how you shop.

I'm not sure what the safety issue is that you refer to; I assume it has to do with something like backlinks that might get you slapped. Use common sense, and don't throw a ton of backlinks at your sites like the old days; you should be fine.

I don't know how many gigs they have, but for you to claim 95% are scams is just ridiculous. You would need to have bought at least 20, to even have a number that can be sampled by 95%, and by no means would it constitute a random sample for a site so huge.

If you bought 20 gigs, 19 of them would be bad according to your figure. That would take either spectacularly bad luck, or you'd have to be trying to find bad gigs; even then I doubt you could hit 19 out of 20.

There is a reason so many Warriors recommend fiverr for outsourcing; it is a goldmine of bargains where often a single gig will save a day or more on the part of the buyer.

My only complaint about them is that the site keeps the buyer and seller at arms length so they can keep collecting their 20% fee forever. Even 20% of the introductory gig is quite steep considering how little they actually do. I'll be damned if I am going to give them 20% for years once I find someone I really like, and hire them.

Definitely voiceovers. $5 for 60s means I can get about 10min (~1500 words) of high quality overover for $50, which is a great addition/upsell to an existing product.

As for video, if it's for a product then it's okay, but definitely not for testimonials. Most of them have done thousands of testimonial videos and their faces are plastered all over the web. They will be recognized. Easy way to lose credibility IMO.

You can use squidoo lens creation services, maybe some wheel building services as long as you have the articles for the wheel written by somebody else... maybe some manual bookmarking to social sites too. Those services are probably safer than the rest of the stuff they offer on fiverr

There are tons of high quality sellers in every service on Fiverr. The problem is that most people do not know what to look for or they have too high of an expectation and end up looking to the low quality gigs that are cheap just so they can match those expectations in their head.

I was answering the people that were saying "Avoid Fiverr for SEO". Like I said, if that's what people are saying, they don't know anything about SEO.

To answer your question, I can't. If I only had $50 and I HAD to spend it, well it would depend on what I was working on.

Some months I may spend it on videos, sometimes link building and so on.

If your asking the question because you have $50 laying around, I would advise you to save it until you actually need it. No point in spending for the sake of it.

Fiver can be a great time saver. A couple things I haven't seen mentioned, but I use are:

- research and curation
- data entry
- minor programming tasks that I don't feel like doin
- integration and validation testing

Although some of these are more suited for microworkers, but there are a lot fiverr gigs that I couldn't live without. For example, one gig will give you a screen shot of your web page in 50 different permutations of web browser and os. Now that's how you test true cross browser compatibility.

I think the trick with fiverr has already been stated, you have to know what you want, how it should be done, and how to communicate it.

I agree with this assessment. I have gotten video and voiceovers through Fiverr that I know would have cost 5 to 10 times on the market.

I used to direct people to the banjoman15 vids on my site but these days you're everywhere.

If I had to spend $50 on Fiverr I would buy blog post placements with real bloggers. You can get some for $5, you just have to search for them. For my purposes, I'll take one post with a link from an established blogger over 20,000 senuke links or silly link pyramids any day.

I would also buy transcription services so I can post a transcription of a video to my blog.

There are pretty decent web designers on Fiverr. I've personally tried a few and results were pretty impressive each time.
